Jones Futures Academy, previously Jesse H. Jones High School, is a public high school in South Park, Houston, Texas, United States. It has Dual Credit Magnet Program with emphasis in Health Sciences and Petroleum Engineering. Students who maintain the course of the entire program would graduate high school in May/June of their Sr. year and will have the ability to receive an associate degree in August following their graduation in one of their offered degree programs. Jones, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Houston Independent School District. Jones was named after Jesse Holman Jones. As of 2010 Empowerment South Early College High School is located on the Jones campus. As of 2014 Milby High School students in grades 10-12 were housed in this campus.

South Early College High School (SECHS), formerly Empowerment South Early College High School and Empowerment College Preparatory High School, is a college-preparatory high school in Houston, Texas, US. It is a part of the Houston Independent School District. It was previously located on the campus of Albert Thomas Middle School and then at Jones High School The school opened in August 2005. Empowerment merged with South Early College High School in 2010.Its current location, at 1930 Airport Boulevard, is on the South Campus of Houston Community College began construction in 2014 and opened in August 2016.The school offers its students the opportunity to earn an associate degree while concurrently achieving a high school degree.

Southcrest is a community in southeastern Houston, Texas. It is bordered by the 610 Loop, Martin Luther King Boulevard, Bellfort Boulevard, and Mykawa Road.Dana Milbank of The Washington Post said in 2001 that a portion of Southcrest has "dilapidated houses, empty lots and pocked streets."In 2006, prices of houses ranged from $30,000 to $84,000. Carissa D. Lamkahouan of the Houston Chronicle said in 2007 that "prices have remained reasonable" because Southcrest is south of the 610 Loop. In 2006 20 homes sold in Southcrest. Of them, 20% were foreclosures. Matt Swift, owner of Swift & Co. Realty, said that many foreclosures occurred because many of Southcrest's residents were lower-middle and middle income households who were unable to afford home ownership and/or ancillary expenses that came with home ownership.In 2007, Lamkahouan said that a surge in homebuilding in the community occurred due to its proximity to major freeways such as the 610 Loop and Texas State Highway 288 and an abundance of vacant lots. LaRence Snowden, a realtor at Womack Development Investments, said "Carissa D. Lamkahouan of the Houston Chronicle said that the community "is hot right now. There is a lot of new home building going on, and if you drive the neighborhood there are still [6,000-square-foot (560 m2), 7,000-square-foot (650 m2)] lots available."

Sunnyside is a community in southern Houston, Texas, United States, south of Downtown Houston. Sunnyside is outside the 610 Loop and inside Beltway 8 off State Highway 288 south of Downtown Houston and is predominantly African American. The community's slogan is "Sunnyside Pride." Sunnyside included a landfill, an adjacent garbage incinerator, and several salvage yards; the incinerator has closed. The city of Houston describes Sunnyside's housing as "suburban-style." As of 2007 Sandra Massie-Hines is the Mayor of Sunnyside.

The Palm Center Business and Technology Center, commonly known as Palm Center, is a municipally-owned services complex in southeast Houston, Texas. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) from NRG Stadium and is in proximity to the Third Ward area.As of 2011 the 26-acre (11 ha) complex includes a 268,000 square feet (24,900 m2) former shopping center, which is one story tall, and the Park at Palm Center (PAPC). The complex is at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Griggs Road. Tenants include small businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits.

Palm Center Transit Center is a light rail station in Houston, Texas on the METRORail system. It is the terminus of the Purple Line and is located on Griggs Road near Beekman Road in the Palm Center neighborhood. Palm Center Transit Center opened to light rail service on May 23, 2015.

Mount Carmel High School was a private, Roman Catholic high school in Houston, Texas, United States. Founded in 1956 by the Carmelite order, Mount Carmel was the first Houston area Catholic high school established east of downtown and the first to serve greater Southeast Houston. From 1986 to 2008, it was administered by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

The Baylor Teen Health Clinic, also known as the Baylor College of Medicine Teen Health Clinic, is a network of nine clinics located in Houston, Texas. Established in 1968, initially as a maternity program for teens, the Baylor Teen Health Clinic now offers comprehensive reproductive health and family planning care at free or low-cost to males and females ages 13–25. The clinic also provides general health counseling as well as prenatal care and postpartum training to teen-age boys and girls. Today the clinics welcome over 26,000 patient visits per year.Primarily affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine, Baylor Teen Health clinic is a non-profit clinic and research institute. The mission of the clinic is to provide health care equal to or better in quality than the private sector; to offer comprehensive care to the underserved population; and to educate both professionals and young people within the community to prevent risky behavior practices.

Ross Shaw Sterling High School, also known as Sterling Aviation High School, is a secondary school located in Houston, Texas. Sterling, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Houston Independent School District. The school was named after Ross S. Sterling. Sterling has Houston ISD's magnet program for Aviation Sciences.

MacGregor Park-Neagle Field is a park and baseball venue in the Third Ward, Houston, Texas, and the home field of the Texas Southern Tigers baseball team. The Tigers are a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.A 42-acre section of the park is owned by the University of Houston.Riverside Terrace is adjacent to the park.

Mount Carmel Academy (MCA) is a secondary school located at 7155 Ashburn Street in the Garden Villas area of Houston, Texas, United States. Mount Carmel is a contract charter school of the Houston Independent School District. Mount Carmel Academy was established in 2008 to serve students formerly attending Mount Carmel High School, a Catholic school of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston that closed in 2008.
