Ostend–Bruges International Airport (IATA: OST, ICAO: EBOS), commonly known simply as Ostend Airport, is an international airport located 2.7 nautical miles (5.0 km; 3.1 mi) south southwest of Ostend, Belgium, near the coast and about 25 km (16 mi) from central Bruges. Although freight transport is the focus of a large proportion of its activities, the airport is increasingly used for passenger flights, mainly charter and holiday flights organised by tour operators. It is also often used for private business flights. The airport covers about 350 hectares (860 acres) of land and has one 3,200-metre (10,500 ft) runway.

Mariakerke (Dutch pronunciation: [maːˈrijaːˌkɛrkə]) is a seaside resort in the West Flanders province of Belgium. Previously a village of its own just to the west of Ostend, it now forms part of that town. It has 11,305 inhabitants.

Walraversijde is an abandoned medieval fishing village on the Belgian coast, near Ostend. It was rediscovered in 1992 in a dune area, near a medieval dyke. Archeological research showed that it had been occupied, in two phases, between 1200 and 1600. Walraversijde has been studied more thoroughly and more systematically than any other medieval fishing community in Europe. The village has been partially reconstructed and has a museum, Walraversijde Museum, dedicated to the site.

Diaz Arena is a multi-use stadium in Ostend, Belgium. It is mostly used for football matches and is the home ground of K.V. Oostende. The stadium holds a capacity of 8,432. Before, it was called Albertpark but after the last renovation in 2016 the name was changed in the current name. Previous names include Albertparkstadion (until 2016) and Versluys Arena (2016-2020).

COREtec Dôme, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Ostend, Belgium. COREtec Dôme has a seating capacity of 5,000 people for basketball games.

On 16 November 1937 a Junkers Ju 52/3m owned by Belgian airline SABENA, operating as a scheduled international passenger flight from Munich, Germany, to London, England, crashed near Ostend, Belgium. The aircraft hit a tall factory chimney while attempting to land at Stene aerodrome near Ostend, Belgium. The accident killed prominent members of the Hesse royal family on the way to London for the wedding of Louis, Prince of Hesse and by Rhine.

Leffinge, sometimes Leffingen in English, is a historic village in Belgium, now part of the municipality of Middelkerke, province of West Flanders.

Wilskerke is a small rural village in Belgium, situated in de Polder region, about 1.5 km from the coastline. In 1977, it became a part (deelgemeente) of the municipality of Middelkerke.

The Hippodrome Wellington (also Wellingtonrenbaan) is a horse racing track in Ostend in the Flemish Region of Belgium built in 1883, renovated in 2011 and named after Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. The facility hosts both harness and flat racing events. Starting at the end of June, there's a race day every Monday (until September). Notable among its flat races for Thoroughbred horses was the Grand Prix Prince Rose held annually in July on the Nationale feestdag. Formerly known as the Grand International d'Ostende, it was renamed to honor the great Belgian horse, Prince Rose. The venue hosted concerts by artists like Michael Jackson (1997), David Bowie (2002) and Bon Jovi (2003) and the 2001 IAAF World Cross Country Championships In 2004 the center of the race track was converted into a golf course named Wellington Golf Oostende.. It holds 4 golf holes of the total of 9. The golf course is closed on race days. The Royal Galleries of Ostend were built to link the track to King Leopold II of Belgium's villa, allowing the king and his guests to travel between the two without being inconvenienced by rain or wind. On September 3, 1997 American pop-star Michael Jackson gave here a concert as part of his HIStory World Tour. It was dedicated to Princess Diana, who died 4 days earlier on August 31, 1997. The racecourse and part of the nearby beach have occasionally been used for cyclo-cross races, including the 2021 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships.

Testerep (or Ter Streep) once comprised an island along the Belgian coast. It existed as early as the 10th century. Fishing villages were scattered about, including Ostend and Westende, with Ostend on the far east (Oost-ende: east-end), Westende on the far west (West-ende: west-end), and Middelkerke (literally "middle-church") the middle of the island. Later, canals and dikes were built and the island became connected to the West Flanders mainland.
