Bihor County (Romanian pronunciation: [biˈhor] , Hungarian: Bihar megye) is a county (județ) in western Romania. With a total area of 7,544 km2 (2,913 sq mi), Bihor is Romania's 6th largest county geographically and the main county in the historical region of Crișana. Its capital city is Oradea.

Oradea (UK: , US: , Romanian: [oˈrade̯a]; German: Großwardein [ˌɡʁoːsvaʁˈdaɪn]; Hungarian: Nagyvárad [ˈnɒɟvaːrɒd]) is a city in Romania, located in Crișana. The seat of Bihor County, Oradea is one of the most important economic, social and cultural centers in the western part of Romania. The city is located in the north-west of the country, nestled between hills on the Crișana plain, on the banks of the river Crișul Repede, that divides the city into almost equal halves. Located about 10 km (6.2 mi) from Borș, one of the most important crossing points on Romania's border with Hungary, Oradea ranks ninth among most populated Romanian cities (as of 2021 census). It covers an area of 11,556 hectares (28,560 acres), in an area of contact between the extensions of the Apuseni Mountains and the Crișana-Banat extended plain. Oradea enjoys a high standard of living and ranks among the most livable cities in the country. The city is also a strong industrial center in the region, hosting some of Romania's largest companies. Besides its status as an economic hub, Oradea boasts a rich Art Nouveau architectural heritage and is a member of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network and the Art Nouveau European Route.

Partium Christian University (Hungarian: Partiumi Keresztény Egyetem; Romanian: Universitatea Creștină Partium) was founded in 1995 in Oradea, the capital and university city of the historical region of Partium, in Transylvania. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary (Romanian: Catedrala romano-catolică Adormirea Maicii Domnului; Hungarian: nagyváradi Nagyboldogasszony székesegyház) also called the Catholic Cathedral of the Assumption, is the cathedral church of the Latin Diocese of Oradea Mare. It is located in the city of Oradea, northwest Romania.The basilica was built between 1752 and 1780, and was designed by Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca (1691-1757). After the death of the first architect, construction was completed by the Viennese Franz Anton Hillebrandt and the church was adorned with baroque decorations of Austria.

With 15 faculties, the university has a total of 123 fields of study for undergraduates and 151 post-graduate specialisation degrees. The university employs 1600 people, of which 935 are teaching personnel, and over 19,000 students (including all forms of studies).

Holy Trinity Church (Romanian: Biserica Sfânta Treime) is a Romanian Orthodox church located at 13 Parcul Traian Street, Oradea, Romania. It is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The church was begun in 1692, after the loss of Ottoman control over the city during the Great Turkish War, in favor of the Habsburg monarchy. Originally a Roman Catholic church, it was initiated by Bishop Ágoston Benkovich and dedicated to Saint Bridget of Sweden. It was the first Catholic church outside the Oradea Citadel, located in the Olosig district. It burned in 1703 and was rebuilt in 1722.Ship-shaped, it has a pentagonal altar; the exterior features a small wooden tower. Initially Baroque in style, as seen in the pediment decorations, it is now Eclectic. The interior frescoes date to 1982–1985. After its Roman Catholic period, the church passed to the Ruthenian Greek Catholic community, who dedicated it to the Holy Spirit. Administered by the Oradea Mare Eparchy from 1786, it was controlled by the Hajdúdorog Eparchy between 1912 and 1919. The church was Greek-Catholic until 1948, when the new communist regime outlawed the denomination.The church is listed as a historic monument by Romania's Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs.
