Warrenville Elementary School

Warrenville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Aiken County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,233 at the 2010 census. It is located just south of Graniteville and is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area. Warrenville is located in historic Horse Creek Valley.

The Warren Mill is a historic textile mill complex at South Carolina Highway 421 and Trestle Pass (County Road P-1201) in Warrenville, South Carolina. It consists of a main four-story brick building, to which a number of one and two-story additions have been made. It was built in 1896-98 to a design by William B. Smith Whaley, a regionally prominent architect of industrial properties. The Warren Manufacturing Company was incorporated in 1896, and operated on the premises until 1919, when it was acquired by the Graniteville Mill Company. It operated the plant until its closure in 1982.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. In September 2023, construction began to convert the mill into an apartment community, repurposing the existing structure and also retaining the two steel water towers and the brick chimney.

The Graniteville train crash was an American rail disaster that occurred on January 6, 2005, in Graniteville, South Carolina. At roughly 2:40 am EST, two Norfolk Southern trains collided near the Avondale Mills plant in Graniteville. Nine people were killed and over 250 people were treated for toxic chlorine exposure. The crash was determined to be caused by a misaligned railroad switch.

The Midland Valley area is a region in Aiken County, South Carolina consisting of the unincorporated communities of Gloverville, Graniteville, Langley, Vaucluse, Warrenville, Graniteville, Bath, as well as the incorporated town of Burnettown[1] The area is more formally known as the Horse Creek Valley,a large stream in the Savannah River watershed which carved the large valley in the Sandhills.

It lies along U.S. Route 1, five miles (8.0 km) west of Aiken in Horse Creek Valley, which originates in the nearby town of Vaucluse. Graniteville is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area, also known as the C.S.R.A. or Central Savannah River Area.

The Hickman Mill Historic District encompasses an early 20th-century textile mill complex in Graniteville, South Carolina. It is located just south of the older Graniteville Mill, and is bounded on the north by Marshall Street, the east by Canal Street, and the south by Hard Street. The complex includes a large brick mill building, and the Classical Revival Hickman Memorial Hall. The mill was built by Tracy Hickman, whose father had succeeded William Gregg at the helm of the Graniteville Mill. The hall was built in 1908 as a place to provide recreational and cultural opportunities to the mill workers.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Graniteville Historic District encompasses one of the first textile company towns to be established in the Southern United States. Built in the late 1840s by William Gregg near Aiken, South Carolina, and now known as Graniteville, it was modeled after New England mill towns. Gregg used the success of this enterprise to advocate for the industrialization of the South, laying the groundwork for its eventual domination of the American textile industry. The district, which includes the original canal, mill building, mill worker housing, and a period church, was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1978.

Gloverville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Aiken County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,831 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area. Gloverville is located in historic Horse Creek Valley.

Roberto Hernandez Stadium is a former minor league and current collegiate baseball stadium, located in Aiken, South Carolina. It is currently the home of the USC Aiken Pacers. Built in 2003, the stadium was named after USC Aiken alumnus and former major league pitcher, Roberto Hernández. The stadium has a capacity of 1,000 and has a fully operational concession stand. The stadium also has a dedicated Hall of Fame to Hernandez, which contains several items of baseball memorabilia and awards belonging to him. The stadium was briefly the home of the Aiken Foxhounds, of the South Coast League in 2007. The Foxhounds folded after the league went into bankruptcy and never returned.

The University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken or USCA) is a public university in Aiken, South Carolina. It is part of the University of South Carolina System and offers undergraduate degree programs as well as master's degrees. Additional graduate courses and degree programs are offered through the University of South Carolina Extended Graduate Campus program. The University of South Carolina Aiken awards baccalaureate degrees in more than 30 major areas of study including the bachelor of science in business administration online through Palmetto College.

Langley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Aiken County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,447 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by Gloverville to the northeast and Burnettown to the west. Langley is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area. Langley is located in historic Horse Creek Valley. It sits next to the Langley pond. The town was named Langley in March 1870, at a meeting of the Board of Directors for the Langley Manufacturing Company in nearby Hamburg. The name was chosen in honor of William C. Langley of Brooklyn, New York, the company's principal stockholder. The original name was Kalmia, after the Kalmia Mills, purchased by Langley and several other stockholders. This was reported in the Augusta Chronicle in March 1870. According to Who Was Who in America, William C. Langley was a shrewd and astute 19th-century businessman who amassed a fortune in the textile industry.

The Pickens House, located in Aiken, South Carolina. It is reputed to have been built around 1829 by Governor Andrew Pickens for his son. In addition, the home is also noted for its early 19th century backcountry plantation architecture. Eventually the house was abandoned, and in 1929 it was moved from its original address near Edgefield to Aiken by a leading Aiken businesswoman and strong proponent of women's rights, Eulalie Chafee Salley. Around 1990 the home was again moved, this time to the campus of the University of South Carolina at Aiken. Much renovation work was taking place in the summer of 2012. The Pickens House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 19, 1983.
