Atlantic Heights Development

The Piscataqua River Bridge is a through arch bridge that crosses the Piscataqua River, connecting Portsmouth, New Hampshire with Kittery, Maine, United States. Carrying six lanes of Interstate 95, the bridge is the third modern span and first fixed crossing of the Piscataqua between Portsmouth and Kittery. The two other spans, the Memorial Bridge and the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge, are both lift bridges, built to accommodate ship traffic along the Piscataqua. The high arch design of the Piscataqua River Bridge eliminates the need for a movable roadway.

USS Albacore (AGSS-569) is a unique research submarine that pioneered the American version of the teardrop hull form (sometimes referred to as an "Albacore hull") of modern submarines. The revolutionary design was derived from extensive hydrodynamic and wind tunnel testing, with an emphasis on underwater speed and maneuverability. She was the third vessel of the United States Navy to be named for the albacore. Her keel was laid down on 15 March 1952 by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard of Kittery, Maine. She was launched on 1 August 1953, sponsored by Mrs. J. E. Jowers, the widow of Chief Motor Machinist's Mate Arthur L. Stanton, lost with the second Albacore (SS-218), and commissioned on 6 December 1953 with Lieutenant Commander Kenneth C. Gummerson in command.The effectiveness of submarines in World War II convinced both the Soviet Navy and the United States Navy that undersea warfare would play an even more important role in coming conflicts and dictated development of superior submarines. The advent of nuclear power nourished the hope that such warships could be produced. The effort to achieve this goal involved the development of a nuclear propulsion system and the design of a streamlined submarine hull capable of optimum submerged performance.

The George Rogers House is a historic house at 76 Northwest Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Probably built about 1839, it was home to a prominent local brickmaker, and forms a significant part of the landscape around the adjacent Richard Jackson House (c. 1690, now a National Historic Landmark). The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Although it is owned by Historic New England, it is not open to the public, unlike the Jackson house, also owned by Historic New England.

The Richard Jackson House is a historic house in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built in 1664 by Richard Jackson, it is the oldest wood-frame house in New Hampshire. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1968. It is now a historic house museum owned by Historic New England, and is open two Saturdays a month between June and October.

The Dennett Garrison is a historic First Period house at 100 Dennett Road in Kittery, Maine. With an estimated construction date of 1710, it is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the state of Maine. When listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, it was still owned by descendants of its builder, John Dennett.

Old North Cemetery is a historic cemetery on Maplewood Avenue in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It is a roughly 1.5-acre (0.61 ha) parcel of land north of the city center on the shore of North Mill Pond. Its earliest burials are dated to 1751, although it was not formally established as a cemetery until 1753. It is the largest of the city's 18th century cemeteries, and is remarkable for the relatively distant locations some of the stonecarvers came from whose work appears in it. The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The James Neal House is a historic house at 74 Deer Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built about 1830, it is distinctive as the only brick house to be built in the Deer Street area, and one of the last Federal style houses to be built in the city. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Henry Sherburne House is a historic house at 62 Deer Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built about 1766, it is a well-preserved example of late Georgian architecture in the city, distinctive for its scrolled pediment entrance surrounded, the only in situ period example of its style. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Whidden-Ward House is a historic house at 411 High Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Probably built in the late 1720s, it is a well-preserved example of Georgian architecture. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Daniel Pinkham House is a historic house at 400 The Hill in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built c. 1813–15, it is one of the finest Federal period houses surviving on the city's north side. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The John Hart House is a historic house at 403 The Hill in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built in the late 18th century, this comparatively modest house exhibits stylistic changes reflective of architectural trends up to the mid 19th century. It was moved to its present location in the 1970s as part of a road widening project. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Jeremiah Hart House is a historic house at The Hill in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Probably built in the late 18th century, it is a well-preserved example of a late Georgian urban residential structure. It was originally located on Deer Street, and was moved as part of a road widening project. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
