Meerbrook

Leekfrith is a civil parish in the Staffordshire Moorlands, in Staffordshire, England, north of the town of Leek. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 363.It is an area between the River Churnet which is near Leek, and the River Dane (the boundary with Cheshire) and its tributary Black Brook. The civil parishes of Heaton and Tittesworth are to the west and east. The civil parish includes the village of Meerbrook, the Roaches (a rocky ridge in the north-east) and most of Tittesworth Reservoir. A chasm known as Lud's Church is near the River Dane. A hill named Gun is at the western boundary, and the village of Upper Hulme is near the eastern boundary.The ground is of boulder clay, and the underlying rock is millstone grit. The soil is loam and clay. The land is used mostly as pasture.

Tittesworth Reservoir is a water storage reservoir near Leek, Staffordshire, England, fed by the River Churnet. The reservoir and associated water treatment works are owned and operated by Severn Trent Water. The reservoir was built in 1858 and extended in 1963. Tittesworth is the second largest reservoir by volume in the county of Staffordshire. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs past the reservoir.

Tittesworth is a civil parish in the Staffordshire Moorlands, in Staffordshire, England. It extends from the edge of the town of Leek in the south-west to Blackshaw Moor in the north-east. In the east is the village of Thorncliffe. To the west is the civil parish of Leekfrith, where the boundary is the River Churnet.To the east is the civil parish of Onecote. Tittesworth Brook runs westwards through the area from Thorncliffe, and flows into the Churnet. The name Tittesworth is Old English: a personal name thought to be Tet, and the word for an enclosed settlement.

Gun is a hill at the southern end of the Peak District, overlooking the town of Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands. The hill is mainly moorland with some small wooded areas. Neighbouring peaks to the east are The Roaches, Hen Cloud and Ramshaw Rocks. It is a nature reserve of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Dieulacres Abbey was a Cistercian monastery established by Ranulf, Earl of Chester at Poulton in Cheshire. It moved to the present site at Abbey Green near Leek, Staffordshire in 1214, possibly in part as a result from raids at the former site by the Welsh.

Abbey Green is a village near Leek in the English county of Staffordshire. The village is close to the site of Dieulacres Abbey. The abbey was founded in 1214 by Ranulph de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester for Cistercian monks, who moved from Poulton, Cheshire because of attacks from the Welsh. The Earl gave the monks the manor of nearby Leek, where a Wednesday market had recently been established. The abbey remained in existence until the Dissolution of the Monasteries, when it was surrendered in 1538.There are some scanty remains of the abbey, which are Grade II listed. Much of the material was used for the building erected on the site.The building on the site of the abbey, built by 1614, was the home of Thomas Rudyard, lord of the manor of Leek, and later of his descendants. It was once known as Abbey Dieulacres, and later as Dieulacres Abbey Farm. It is now known as Abbey Farm.The Abbey Inn, a feature of the village, is a Grade II* listed building and is dated 1702.

The Roaches (from the French les roches - the rocks) is a prominent rocky ridge above Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir in the Staffordshire Peak District of England. The ridge with its rock formations rises steeply to 505 m (1,657 ft).Along with Ramshaw Rocks and Hen Cloud, from Old English Henge Clud, meaning "steep rock", they form a gritstone escarpment, which is popular with hikers, rock climbers and freerunners. It is often very busy especially at weekends. The Roaches Estate was purchased by the Peak District National Park Authority in the 1980s to safeguard the area from adverse development. From May 2013 Staffordshire Wildlife Trust took on the management of the Roaches Estate. In clear conditions, it is possible to see much of Cheshire and views stretching as far as Snowdon in Wales and Winter Hill in Lancashire. The Roaches are the most prominent part of a curving ridge which extends for several miles from Hen Cloud in the south to Back Forest and Hangingstone in the northwest. At the top there is a small pool called Doxey Pool that is, according to legend, inhabited by a water spirit. Nearby are the broad hills of Gun and Morridge.

Ball Haye Green is an area of Leek in Staffordshire, England. The area was historically an estate in the township of Tittesworth. It was developed as a suburb of Leek from the 1820s, when the Leek Building Society erected 42 houses between 1824 and 1829. The suburb was extended in the 20th century by the building of housing estates.

Upper Hulme is a hamlet situated in North Staffordshire, between the historical market town of Leek and the spa town of Buxton. It is clustered around a redundant mill and is located within the upper reaches of the River Churnet. The Mill was recently restored, complete with a working water wheel, but no further information on its future is known. It can be accessed by one of the many footpaths through the hamlet. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs through the village.The hamlet is at the edge of the Peak District and is home to The Roaches and is therefore very popular with ramblers, climbers and hikers alike. The A53 road offers access to Tittesworth reservoir in the south and Ramshaw Rocks in the North, making the hamlet a popular base for walking holidays. There is a camp site, bunkhouse accommodation and holiday cottages available. The hamlet is popular with wildlife enthusiasts due to Wallaby having been sighted on the Roaches, and the successful annual breeding of peregrine falcons. In Peregrine breeding season, a 'bird watching post' is set up at the foot of Hen Cloud and park rangers are on hand to offer advice and information on the bird. At this time of year, some access is restricted. The hamlet has two local pubs; Ye Olde Rock Inn and The Winking Man. It is also home to a popular Tea Rooms. The main industry of the hamlet is agricultural. Upon entrance to the hamlet there is an old Dye Works, which has now been transformed into offices and workshops. Until 2005 the area was used by the British Army as a training area. That space has now been vacated by the Ministry of Defence and is currently for sale.

Leek is a market town and civil parish in the county of Staffordshire, England, on the River Churnet. It is situated about 10 miles (16 km) north east of Stoke-on-Trent. It is an ancient borough and was granted its royal charter in 1214. It is the administrative centre for the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. King John granted Ranulph de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, the right to hold a weekly Wednesday market and an annual seven-day fair in Leek in 1207. Leek's coat of arms is made up of a saltire shield. On the top is the Stafford knot, either side is the Leek double sunset and below a gold garb. The crest is a mural crown with three mulberry leaves on a mount of heather on top of which a moorcock is resting his claw on a small-weave shuttle. The motto Arte favente nil desperandum translates to: Our skill assisting us, we have no cause for despair.

Leek High School is a mixed upper school (termed 'high school') located in Leek, Staffordshire, England. As of 2021, the number of students at the school is 373, including the sixth form, but capacity is 665.Previously a foundation school administered by Staffordshire County Council, the school converted to academy status in April 2016, joining The Talentum Learning Trust. The school continues to coordinate with Staffordshire County Council for admissions. The school is colocated with The Meadows School, a mixed special school. The school operates a joint sixth form with Westwood College, the Leek Federation Sixth Form, with a shuttle bus operating between the two sites.
