Santa Maria Donnaromita is a former church located on via Paladino in Naples. A church at the site was first founded by nuns putatively fleeing in 1025 from iconoclasm in Constantinople, and thus initially gave the monastery the title: Monasterium Monialum Santa Mariae de Percejo de Constantinopoli ordini Cisterciensium regulae San Bernardi. In time this became the church of Santa Mariae dominarum de Romania de Neapolitanum ordinis Cisterciensis.By 14th century a church on the present plan was built, and refurbished in the 16th century by Giovanni Francesco di Palma along with construction of the convent and cloisters by Giovanni Vincenzo Della Monica. Further reconstructions in the 16th and 17th centuries gave the complex its Baroque imprint. In the 19th century, the church was suppressed and became an engineering school. It was damaged during the Second World War. The interior ceiling (1587-1590) was decorated by Giovanni Andrea Magliuolo and painted by Teodoro d'Errico; on the counterfacade is an Epiphany (1728), while the cupola was frescoed by Luca Giordano. In the apse are the remains of the main altar sculpted by the brothers Bartolomeo and Pietro Ghetti; The pavement was designed by Donato Massa. In the chapel, Duke Theodore's remains are housed in a reused ancient Roman sarcophagus.

The Tomb of Cardinal Rainaldo Brancacci (or Brancaccio) is a sculptural work in the church of Sant'Angelo a Nilo in Naples, southern Italy, executed by Donatello and Michelozzo around 1426-1428. Built in marble, partly gilt and polychrome, it has a height of 11.60 meters and a width of 4.60.

Sant'Angelo a Nilo is a Roman Catholic church located on the Decumano Inferiore (Spaccanapoli street) in Naples, Italy. It stands diagonally across from San Domenico Maggiore in Naples. It is known for containing the monumental Renaissance-style tomb of Cardinal Rainaldo Brancacci (Italian: Sepolcro del Cardinale Brancacci) by Donatello and Michelozzo, one of the major sculptural works in the city.

Palazzo di Sangro, also known as either Palazzo de Sangro di Sansevero or Palazzo Sansevero, is a late-Renaissance-style aristocratic palace facing the church of San Domenico Maggiore, separated by the via named after the church, in the city center of Naples, Italy. Part of the palace facade faces the piazza in front of the church, which is also bordered to the south by the Palazzo di Sangro di Casacalenda.

The Zoological Museum of Naples, located in Naples, south Italy, was founded by Gioacchino Murat in 1811. The first curator was Luigi Petagna. The founding collections were those of the Royal Bourbon Museum and the private collection of Giuseppe Saverio Poli. Later curators were: Giosuè Sangiovanni, Achille Costa (from 1860), Francesco Saverio Monticelli (from 1900). the museum was badly damaged in the Second World War but with Mario Salfi as Curator, it was restored between 1948 and 1970. The church of Santi Marco e Andrea a Nilo is a former Roman Catholic church, located on via Paladino #50 in central Naples, Italy. It is less than a block east of the Santa Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli church.

The University of Naples Federico II (Italian: Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II) is a public university in Naples, Italy. Founded in 1224, it is the oldest public non-sectarian university in the world, and is now organized into 26 departments. It was Europe's first university dedicated to training secular administrative staff, and is one of the oldest academic institutions in continuous operation. Federico II is the third University in Italy by number of students enrolled, but despite its size it is still one of the best universities in Italy and the world, being particularly notable for research; in 2015 it was ranked among the top 100 universities in the world by citations per paper. The university is named after its founder Frederick II. In October 2016 the university hosted the first ever Apple IOS Developer Academy and in 2018 the Cisco Digital Transformation Lab.

The Palazzo Carafa della Spina is a historic palace located on Via Benedetto Croce number 45, (part of Via Spaccanapoli) in the quartiere San Giuseppe of Naples, Italy. It is located between the Piazza of the Gesu Nuovo and the Piazza of San Domenico Maggiore. The Palace once belonged to a branch of the Carafa family. The building was also known as the Palace of Fabrizio Carafa, Prince of Butera and Roccella, which later was inherited by Carlo Maria Carafa, famous being part of the cavalcade that brought the Chinea or tribute of Naples to Pope Innocent XI, and patron of the Carafa Chapel in San Domenico Maggiore.In the 16th century, a member of the Carafa della Spina family acquired the palace at this site, and it was rebuilt in the first half of the 17th century, likely using the architect Domenico Fontana. The palace was reconstructed in the 18th century by the architect Martino Buonocore. The elaborate Baroque portal made of piperno rock, create a grand entrance to the courtyard. Atop the portal, two satyrs serve as telamons to support the balcony and hold the heraldic shield of the Carafa family. Further below are two flanking masks and pylons with lion heads. The portal and internal stairwell have been attributed to Ferdinando Sanfelice.

Santa Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli is a deconsecrated Roman Catholic church located at the end of Via Nilo (where it intersects Piazzeta Nilo, and runs into via Giovanni Paladino) in Naples, region of Campania, Italy. In the small piazza in front of the church is an ancient Roman statue of the Nile God.

Santa Maria di Monteverginella is a Roman Catholic church in Naples, Italy. To the right of the facade, is the separate Chapel of Santa Maria della Concezione (Chapel of Holy Mary of the Conception).

The Statue of the Nile God (Italian: Statua del dio Nilo) is an Ancient Roman, likely Hellenistic, marble statue dating from the 2nd to 3rd century AD. It is located at Piazzetta Nilo, at the start of via Nilo, in the quarter of the same name, and it is this statue that gives all their name. The church of Santa Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli faces the statue, and the Palazzo Panormita is on the north flank. Two blocks east, along Via Benedetto Croce (part of the Decumano Inferiore commonly called Spaccanapoli) rises the church of San Domenico.

The Palazzo del Panormita is a Renaissance style palace in central Naples. It rises alongside the narrow via Nilo, near via Spaccanapoli, where it is called San Biagio dei Librai, diagonally from Santa Maria Assunta dei Pignatelli, adjacent to the Piazza del Nilo with the Nile God statue. It is south of Palazzo d’Afflitto and the Palazzo Spinelli di Laurino. The palace was initially commissioned prior to 1450 by Antonio Beccadelli, (1394–1471), called Il Panormita (poetic form meaning "The Palermitan"), who was a prominent Italian poet, canon lawyer, scholar, diplomat, and chronicler. It has since gone through many owners, including Giacomo Capece Galeota, a regent in the Tribunal of the Vicariate. The initial architect was Giovanni Fillippo De Adinolfo, followed by Giovanni Francesco Mormando and Giovanni Francesco Di Palma who completed the work in the 16th century. The base of the structure has rough piperno rock. The piano nobile has the largest windows, while the third floor has arched windows. In the 1700s, a fourth story was added.
