Pleasure Beach

WICC (600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Bridgeport, Connecticut, owned by Connoisseur Media. It airs as a talk radio format featuring local shows with Melissa Sheketoff, Lisa Wexler and Paul Pacelli. Nationally syndicated programs include Dave Ramsey, Ben Shapiro and Red Eye Radio. Weekends feature shows on safe money, Italian music, and oldies. Most hours begin with world and national news from NBC News Radio. WICC is a member of the New York Yankees Radio Network and also airs Sacred Heart University athletics. The WICC studios are located on Wheelers Farms Road in Milford; the station's transmitter is on Pleasure Beach in Bridgeport on a peninsula extending into Long Island Sound. WICC's signal is heard in much of Southern Connecticut and reaches into Long Island, New York. Programming is also heard on FM translator 107.3 W297CP, and using an HD Radio, on sister stations 107.9 WEBE-HD2 and 99.1 WPLR-HD2.

The Pleasure Beach Bridge is a movable Warren through-truss bridge in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Completed in 1927, it functioned as a toll bridge until the Great Depression, when it was transferred to the city of Bridgeport. Its service life came to an end after it was badly damaged by fire in 1996, cutting off access to Pleasure Beach. In the decade following the fire, several bonds to fund a new bridge were proposed, but ultimately fell through. Pleasure Beach has become the subject of debate, whether it will become an undisturbed protected salt marsh or be revitalized. An alternate method of access via water taxi service, first made possible by a grant in 2009, was not realized until 2013.

Tongue Point Light Lighthouse, also known as Bridgeport Breakwater or Bug Light, is a lighthouse on the west side of the Bridgeport Harbor entrance, in the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut in the United States. Built in 1891 and moved to its present location in 1919, it was instrumental in the development of the city's inner harbor as a transshipment point connecticut rail and water freight transport systems. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Newfield Park is an outdoor park located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It is located in the east end of the city at 698 Seaview Avenue.

The Pequonnock River is a 16.7-mile-long (26.9 km) waterway in eastern Fairfield County, Connecticut. Its watershed is located in five communities, with the majority of it located within Monroe, Trumbull, and Bridgeport. The river has a penchant for flooding, particularly in spring since the removal of a retention dam in Trumbull in the 1950s. There seems to be a sharp difference of opinion among historians as to just what the Indian word Pequonnock signifies. Some insist it meant cleared field or open ground; others are sure it meant broken ground; while a third group is certain it meant place of slaughter or place of destruction.

Bridgeport Harbor is an inlet on the north side of Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was carved by the retreat of the glaciers during the last ice age approximately 13,000 years ago. Bridgeport Harbor is a federal shipping port and a terminus of the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, one of the oldest ferry companies in the nation. It is due east of the smaller Black Rock Harbor which is also in the city of Bridgeport.

The Barnum–Palliser Historic District is a 5.9-acre (2.4 ha) residential historic district in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The area, bounded roughly by Austin Street, Myrtle Avenue, Atlantic Street, and Park Avenue, was developed by P.T. Barnum to provide worker housing in the 1880s. Many of the houses were designed by Palliser, Palliser & Co., and are interesting examples of Italianate, Queen Anne, and Stick/Eastlake architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Eagle's Nest, also once known as the Johnson-DeRivera House, was a house at 282-284 Logan St. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Probably built in the early 1830s, it was the centerpiece of a large farm prior to the area's subdivision and residential development, and was home to what is believed to be Connecticut's first Puerto Rican immigrant. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The house was subsequently damaged by an arsonist and demolished; on its site is the Jettie Tisdale School.

The William D. Bishop Cottage Development Historic District, also known as the Cottage Park Historic District, encompasses a historic planned working-class residential community in the South End of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The district most prominently includes 35 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame cottages with Carpenter Gothic styling, developed in 1880 and 1881 by the Bishop Realty Company and probably designed by Palliser, Palliser & Company. It was one of the first such planned developments in the city, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Ein Jacob (Ayn Yacob) Synagogue (also known previously as the Swedish (East End) Lutheran Church and currently as The Church of God and Saints-Christ) is a historic religious building at 748 Connecticut Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Built in 1918, it is notable for its relatively sophisticated architectural appearance, despite a use of relatively low-cost materials for the period. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The Mary and Eliza Freeman Houses are historic residences in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The simple, clapboard-covered dwellings were built in 1848 in what became known as Little Liberia, a neighborhood settled by free blacks starting in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. As the last surviving houses of this neighborhood on their original foundations, these were added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 22, 1999. The houses are the oldest remaining houses in Connecticut built by free blacks, before the state completed its gradual abolition of slavery in 1848. The homes and nearby Walter's Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church are also listed sites on the Connecticut Freedom Trail.
