On 19 August 2022, a school attack took place at the Municipal School of Fundamental Teaching Éber Louzada Zippinotti (in Portuguese, Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Eber Louzada Zippinotti, abbreviated as EMEF Eber Louzada Zippinotti), located in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. In the event, 18-year-old former student Henrique Lira Trad threatened and attacked teachers, coordinators and students with a variety of weapons, including crossbows, knives and Molotov cocktails before being tackled and restrained by a physical education teacher, and was later arrested.

Vitória (Portuguese pronunciation: [viˈtɔɾjɐ], Victory), spelled Victória until the 1940s, is the capital of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It is located on a small island within a bay where a number of rivers meet the sea. It was founded in 1551. The city proper is 93 square kilometres (36 square miles) and has a population of 365,855 (2020), whilst the Greater Vitória metropolitan area has a population of more than 1,857,616 (2013), the 14th largest in Brazil. Vitória is a riverine island surrounded by Vitória's Bay. In addition to Vitória, the main island, another 34 islands and a mainland portion are part of the municipality, totalling 93.381 square kilometres (36.05 square miles). Originally there were 50 islands, many of which were joined to the largest island by landfill. In 1998, the United Nations rated Vitória as the fourth best state capital in Brazil to live in, rating cities on health, education, and social improvement projects. Among the Brazilian capitals, Vitória currently maintains the second best human development index (HDI) (after Florianópolis) according to research from the Getulio Vargas Foundation. It was considered the fourth best Brazilian city to live in by the United Nations in 2013, behind São Caetano do Sul, Águas de São Pedro and Florianópolis, and it was ranked as having the highest GDP per capita. The city has two major ports: the Port of Vitória and the Port of Tubarão. These ports are part of the largest port complex of the country, which are considered the best in quality of Brazil. The city, which lies on the coast, is close to the mountains of Espírito Santo. Through the city's port authority, the city council also manages the Trindade and Martim Vaz islands, 1,100 kilometres (680 miles) off the coast, which are important meteorological bases because of their strategic position: located in an area of dispersion of air masses.

Espírito Santo (also known by its official abbreviation ES) (Portuguese: [(i)sˈpiɾitu ˈsɐ̃tu] (listen); lit. 'Holy Spirit') is a state in southeastern Brazil. Its capital is Vitória, and its largest city is Serra. With an extensive coastline, the state hosts some of the country's main ports, and its beaches are significant tourist attractions. The Captaincy of Espírito Santo was carved out of the Captaincy of Bahia in the 18th century, during the colonial rule of Brazil, and named after a 16th-century captaincy covering roughly the same area of coast. Following the elevation of Brazil to a constituent kingdom of United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves in 1815, prompted by the transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil, Espírito Santo was elevated to a province. After the independence of Brazil in 1822, it became a province of the newly established Empire of Brazil, and after Brazil became a republic in 1889, it was granted statehood. In the early 20th century, its current state symbols were adopted.

Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport (IATA: VIX, ICAO: SBVT), formerly called Goiabeiras Airport after the neighborhood where it is located, is the airport serving Vitória, Brazil. Since 9 May 2006, it is named after Eurico de Aguiar Salles (1910–1959) a local politician and law professor.It is operated by Zurich Airport Brasil.

Vitória Island is an archipelago and island in Espírito Santo state, Brazil. Vitória, the capital of Espírito Santo, is situated on the main island. The main island has an area of 89 km² and a population of 358,875, according to 2015 estimates. The central massif of the island contains the Fonte Grande State Park as well as the Gruta da Onça Park, Pedra dos Olhos Ecological Reserve and the Tabuazeiro Park.

The Solar Monjardim Museum (MSM) is a Brazilian historical public museum located in the Solar Monjardim, in Santa Cecília, neighborhood of Vitória, Espírito Santo. The museum is currently one of the federal institutions administered by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram).

The Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo (Portuguese: Assembleia Legislativa do Espírito Santo) is the unicameral legislature of the state of Espírito Santo in Brazil. It has 30 state deputies elected by proportional representation. It is located in the city of Vitória.

The Deputy Darcy Castelo de Mendonça Bridge, colloquially known as the Third Bridge (Portuguese: Terceira Ponte), is the second tallest bridge in Brazil, connecting the cities of Vila Velha and Vitória in the state of Espirito Santo. Spanning the mouth of Vitória's bay, which has many other features, including the Penha Convent, Moreno's hill, freight ships, coastline, islands and modern buildings, the bridge has become one of Espirito Santo's main landmarks.

TV Vitória is a Brazilian television station based in Vitória, capital of the state of Espírito Santo. It operates on channel 6 (UHF digital 38) and is affiliated to Record. It is owned by Rede Vitória de Comunicação, a subsidiary of the Buaiz Group, also responsible for the radio stations Jovem Pan FM Vitória and Jovem Pan News Vitória. The broadcaster maintains studios at the Buaiz Group headquarters in Parque Moscoso, in addition to commercial offices in Praia do Canto, and its transmitters are at the top of Morro da Fonte Grande.

TV Capixaba is a Brazilian television station based in Vila Velha, but licensed in Vitória, respectively the city and capital of the state of Espírito Santo. It operates on channel 10 (digital UHF 16) and is affiliated with Rede Bandeirantes. Belonging to Rede Capixaba de Comunicação, the media arm of Grupo Sá Cavalcante, it generates its programming for around 80% of Espírito Santo. Its studios are located in the Centro Empresarial Shopping Praia da Costa Offices, in the neighborhood of the same name, while its transmission antenna is in Morro da Fonte Grande, in Vitória.
