Halifax River

The Ponce de Leon Inlet is a natural opening in the barrier islands in central Florida that connects the north end of the Mosquito Lagoon and the south end of the Halifax River to the Atlantic Ocean. The inlet originally was named Mosquito Inlet. In 1926 the Florida Legislature changed the name from Mosquito Inlet to Ponce de Leon Inlet. There was precedent for the change. Mosquito County had long before become Orange County, and the Mosquito River had become the Halifax River. Only the Mosquito Lagoon has kept its old name. It is the site of the town of Ponce Inlet, Florida and the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light. The inlet is maintained by the Ponce de Leon Inlet & Port District, a division of the Volusia County, Florida government.

The Volusia County Marine Science Center is a marine science and natural history museum in Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, Florida.

The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light is a lighthouse and museum located at Ponce de León Inlet in Central Florida. At 175 feet (53 m) in height, it is the tallest lighthouse in the state and one of the tallest in the United States (the Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina is taller at 207 feet (63 m)). It is located between St. Augustine Light and Cape Canaveral Light. Restored by the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, the lighthouse became a National Historic Landmark in 1998.

Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet is a United States Coast Guard boat station located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and is part of the Coast Guard 7th District, Sector Jacksonville.While in the late 1980s, the crew consisted of only 4 men, the crew at Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet now is made of 31 active duty and 15 United States Coast Guard Reserve personnel. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) performs Search & Rescue, Law Enforcement and fisheries patrols, also do maintenance work at the Cape Canaveral lighthouse.

Ponce Inlet is a town in Volusia County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area, as well as the Halifax area. The population was 3,364 at the 2020 census. The town of Ponce Inlet is located on the southern tip of a barrier island, south of Daytona Beach and Daytona Beach Shores. Several marinas are located in Ponce Inlet. The community is known for its strict land use regulations.

It is owned by the City of New Smyrna Beach.This airport is assigned a three-letter location identifier of EVB by the Federal Aviation Administration, but it does not have an International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code.

The El Real Retiro (also known as the Handley House) is a Spanish Colonial Revival house in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, United States. Built in 1923 it is located at 636 North Riverside Drive and 647 Faulkner Street. On November 10, 1987, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was built for millionaire stockbroker and art collector Robert Handley; the dining room was painted with murals by artist Robert E. Locher depicting the history of the colonization of Florida.

The Coronado Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on February 21, 1997) located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The district is bounded by Columbus, Due East, and Pine Avenues, and the Indian River. It contains 83 historic buildings.

The following buildings and structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Archeological Resources of the 18th-Century Smyrnea Settlement of Dr. Andrew Turnbull MPS (or MPS).

New Smyrna Beach is a city in Volusia County, Florida, United States, located on the central east coast of the state, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The downtown section of the city is located on the west side of the Indian River and the Indian River Lagoon system. The Coronado Beach Bridge crosses the Intracoastal Waterway just south of Ponce de Leon Inlet, connecting the mainland with the beach on the coastal barrier island. Its population is 30,142 in 2020 by the United States Census Bureau. The surrounding area offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation; these include fishing, sailing, motorboating, golfing, and hiking. In July 2009, New Smyrna Beach was ranked number nine on the list of "best surf towns" in Surfer. It was recognized as "one of the world's top 20 surf towns" by National Geographic in 2012. It has also been dubbed "The Shark Bite Capital of the World."

The Old Fort Park Archeological Site is a historic site in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, United States. On July 10, 2008, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.This property is part of the Archeological Resources of the 18th-Century Smyrna Settlement of Dr. Andrew Turnbull Multiple Property Submission, a Multiple Property Submission to the National Register.

The New Smyrna Beach Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on April 26, 1990) located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The district is bounded by Riverside Drive, U.S. 1, Ronnoc Lane, and Smith Street. It contains 312 historic buildings.
