Ljubljana Marsh

Lipe (pronounced [ˈliːpɛ]) is a settlement in the marshland south of Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It belongs to the City Municipality of Ljubljana. The area is part of the traditional Lower Carniola region. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Podkraj (pronounced [pɔtˈkɾai̯]) is a village in the Municipality of Ig in central Slovenia, on the edge of the marshland south of the capital Ljubljana. The municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. It includes the hamlet of Šent Janž (German: Sankt Johann).

The Iška (pronounced [ˈiːʃka]) is a river of central Slovenia. Part of the river valley—the Iška Gorge or Iška Canyon (Slovene: Iški vintgar)—separates Lower Carniola from Inner Carniola.: 82  The river is 31 km (19 mi) long. After flowing past Strahomer, the river follows an almost straight line and joins the Ljubljanica River, and therefore belongs to the Sava and Black Sea basins. The part of the river between Iška Vas and Strahomer disappeared underground during the 2010 Slovenia floods, on the night of 20 September 2010.

Jezero (pronounced [ˈjeːzɛɾɔ]; German: Seedorf) is a village in the Municipality of Brezovica in central Slovenia. It lies on the edge of the marshlands south of the capital Ljubljana. The municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. It includes the hamlets of Zaledine, Virje, and Zaobloka.

Podpeč (pronounced [pɔtˈpeːtʃ]) is a village on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River in the Municipality of Brezovica in central Slovenia. The municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.Numerous artefacts dating from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman period, and the Middle Ages have been recovered from the river bed of the Ljubljanica. Until the 19th century, Podpeč was an important river port, particularly for the movement of building materials from nearby quarries for use in Ljubljana. The area has been declared an archaeological site of national importance by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture.

Vnanje Gorice (pronounced [ˈwnaːnjɛ ɡɔˈɾiːtsɛ]; German: Außergoritz) is a settlement 5 km (3 mi) south of the capital Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It is located in the Ljubljana Marsh landscape park. The entire Municipality of Brezovica is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Preserje (pronounced [ˈpɾeːsɛɾjɛ]; in older sources Presar, German: Presser) is a village in the Municipality of Brezovica in central Slovenia. It lies immediately east of Kamnik pod Krimom. The entire municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. It includes the hamlet of Učne to the east on the slope of Špilj Hill (525 m).
