St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Cathedral is a cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Church in the Dowanhill district of Glasgow, Scotland.

Notre Dame High School is a local, catchment based state funded secondary school for girls, located on Observatory Road in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded in 1897 as a fee paying school for girls. Notre Dame High was the last remaining single sex council school in Scotland until November 2019.

The Scottish School of Primary Care (SSPC) is an organisation that co-ordinates a programme of research and training of primary care in Scotland. The School was launched in 2000. In common with many areas of the West End, continual development causes concern for many residents who fear the area becoming overdeveloped; this concern was highlighted in the bitter dispute over the proposed redevelopment of Dowanhill Tennis Club.In 2005–2006 due to increased traffic levels and to discourage rat running Glasgow City Council introduced traffic calming measures and converted a number of streets into one-way traffic systems.In 1869 Jefferson Davis, the only president of the Confederate States of America, stayed in Dowanhill while visiting the Glasgow merchant James Smith.The earliest known registered scout troop in the world, the 1st Glasgow Scout Troop, is still active in Dowanhill. Captain 'Boss' Young established the troop in 1907 and the group was registered with Scout HQ, London on 16 January 1908.35 Saltoun Street, the building depicted in the 1993 painting Windows in the West, is located in Dowanhill.

Kelvinside Academy is an independent day school in Glasgow, Scotland, founded in 1878. It has a capacity of over 600 pupils and spans two years of Nursery, six years of Junior School (primary school), a transition year of Senior Preparatory, and six years of Senior School (secondary school), comprising fifteen years in all. Kelvinside was founded as a private school and remained so until the late 1940s when, like many similar schools, it became 'grant-aided' until 1985 when it reverted to its fully independent roots once more. Formerly for boys only, the school became fully co-educational in 1998.

Kelvinside is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde and is bounded by Broomhill, Dowanhill and Hyndland to the south with Kelvindale and the River Kelvin to the north. It is an affluent area of Glasgow, with large Victorian villas and terraces. As with Morningside, Edinburgh, residents are sometimes said to have a "pan loaf" accent, i.e. an affected one. This often leads to jokes about a "Kelvinsaide" accent. Both of these areas were featured in an advert for ScotRail.Kelvinside railway station was on the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway, but is now closed. Kelvinside is home to Kelvinside Academy, a private school situated on the corner of Kirklee Road and Bellshaugh Road. At the corner of Kirklee Road and Great Western Road is a shop called Churchill's. Churchill's began life as a green hut just a little bigger than an average-sized garage. It was known by locals as the "Greenie". In the 1990s it was replaced by a new two-storey stone building, with a flat in the upper floor and a shop on the ground floor. Although clad with brown stained wood, it is still referred to as the Greenie. The local Church of Scotland parish churches (serving Kelvinside and parts of adjacent areas) are Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church and St. John's Renfield Church. The local Roman Catholic church is St. Gregory's.
