Rog, Kočevje

Trnovec (pronounced [təɾˈnoːʋəts]; German: Tiefenreuther or Tiefenreuter) is a settlement in the hills northeast of the town of Kočevje in southern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.

The expenditure on research and development (R&D), which amounted to 5.2% of the regional GDP in 2012, highlights the importance of R&D in the region. Businesses accounted for 90% of the sources of financing. The population's age structure in this region is favourable. In mid-2013 the value of the ageing index was 105.2, which means that the ratio between the population 65 or older and the population 15 or less was 105 older people per 100 young people.

Podstenice (pronounced [pɔtstɛˈniːtsɛ]; German: Steinwand) is a settlement in the Municipality of Dolenjske Toplice in Slovenia. It was inhabited by Gottschee Germans. At the start of the Second World War its population was expelled and in 1942 the village was burned to the ground. The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
