East Monument Historic District

L. Greif and Bro., Inc. Manufactory is a historic factory building located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a three-story brick and steel industrial building constructed about 1914–15. It features an expanse of multi-light steel windows, a metal cornice, and sawtooth monitors. It encompasses almost an entire city block and over 60,000 square feet (5,600 m2) of interior space. It served as a clothing factory for L. Greif & Bro., Inc., makers of the men's clothing brand, 'Griffin,' and for a time the country's second-largest men's clothing company. The company was sold to a national conglomerate in 1957.L. Grief and Bro., Inc. Manufactory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Madison-Eastend is a neighborhood in the heart of East Baltimore, Maryland. Madison-Eastend occupies 66.7 acres of land north of Patterson Park and south of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. The neighborhood is bounded by the neighborhoods of Ellwood Park and McElderry Park to the south, Milton-Montford to the west, Biddle Street to the north, and Orangeville to the east. The swath of land between Johns Hopkins Hospital and Frank C Bocek Park, which includes Madison-Eastend, is often referred to as the "Down the Hill" neighborhood by local residents.

McElderry Park is a neighborhood in the northern part of the southeastern district of the City of Baltimore. Its boundaries are marked by East Fayette Street, East Monument Street, Linwood Avenue, and Patterson Park Avenue. South of McElderry Park is the neighborhood of Patterson Park; Butchers Hill is to the southwest. Ellwood Park is located to the east, and the campus of The Johns Hopkins Hospital to the west. To its north is the neighborhood of Madison-East End.In the early 1980s, McElderry Park suffered from white flight and abandonment by its working class homeowners. The closing of nearby public housing flooded the neighborhood with Section 8 tenants in individual rowhouses and apartments, with additional street crime, and illegal drug trade. Throughout the 1990s, the area became the most crime-ridden in old East Baltimore. Efforts are underway to turn things around, replacing abandoned buildings with productive uses such as public gardens. The 2000 census reported that 34.3 percent of McElderry Park's families had incomes below the poverty line. Although predominantly black, the neighborhood has significant white and Hispanic populations.

The Berea–Biddle Street Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is located in the far eastern part of the historic city bounds, and is roughly bounded by the Edison Highway, Federal Street, North Rose Street, and the railroad tracks of the Penn Central Railroad. This area was one of the last to be developed within the city's 1851 boundaries, and consists mainly of two-story rowhouses built between about 1890 and 1925. The centerpiece of the district is the St. Katherine of Sienna Roman Catholic church and school complex. Berea–Biddle Street is historically significant due to its association with the immigrant history of Baltimore, in particular the Bohemian/Czechoslovakian immigrants who began settling in the area during the 1870s and 1880s. By the early 1900s, many of the Czech immigrants had relocated northeast to access more modern and spacious housing. Many Irish and Italian immigrants also lived in the neighborhood during the late 1800s and early 1900s.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Public School No. 37, also known as Patrick Henry School and Primary School No. 37, is a historic elementary school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is an elaborately detailed 2+1⁄2-story Georgian Revival structure. The entrance portico has six freestanding columns, rustication at the base, lintels, and quoins, and a large slate-shingled hip roof. It was built in 1896 for $25,000.Public School No. 37 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church (Czech: Kostel sv. Václava) is a Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Baltimore located in the Middle East neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. It is administered by the Josephites and serves a primarily African-American congregation.

Ellwood Park is a neighborhood in the eastern part of Baltimore, Maryland. It is named for a small public park with a playground between Jefferson and Orleans Streets. The neighborhood extends from Linwood Avenue and Haven Street, between Monument Street and Fayette Street. It is contained within the 21205 and 21224 zip code. Architecturally, Ellwood Park is made up of rowhouses constructed in the early 20th century. Most have front porches and the white marble steps. It is a community of mostly middle class to low-income residents. Neighborhood groups include the Ellwood Park Improvement Association and Family of Ellwood Park Community Association.

Northeast Market was established in 1885 in Middle East, East Baltimore, United States alongside the development of the area around Johns Hopkins Hospital. The market has gone through several iterations in its history, having been enlarged in 1896, replaced from a wood to brick structure in 1955, renovated again in the 1980s, and most recently updated in 2013.
