Seminole Heights

Seminole Heights United Methodist Church, also referred to as Seminole Heights Methodist or Seminole Heights UMC, is an active Methodist congregation and a historic, Gothic Revival style church building constructed in 1927 in the Old Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa, Florida. The building is one of the contributing structures within the Seminole Heights Residential District, a U.S. National and Local Historic District. Seminole Heights United Methodist Church is located at 6111 Central Avenue, at the southeast corner of the intersection of Central and Hanna Avenues.

Old Seminole Heights is a neighborhood within the city limits of Tampa, in the U.S. state of Florida. The neighborhood is one of three which comprise the greater Seminole Heights district within the city. As of the 2010 census the neighborhood had a population of 14,729. The district is roughly bounded by Hanna Avenue to the north, Cherokee Avenue and I-275 to the east, Florida Avenue to the west, and Osborne Avenue to the south.

Captain William Parker Jackson House is a historic residence in the Seminole Heights area of Tampa, Florida. An 1870s farmhouse, it was once owned by prominent Tampa pioneers. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Jackson was born November 11, 1847, to "first Anglo-American family to settle in the Tampa Wilderness."According to the Tampa Bay Times, the house design is known as an I-house: a symmetrical structure popular from Colonial times through the 1800s. The property once included 152 acres along Nebraska Avenue (Tampa) up to the Hillsborough River, according to an 1852 survey plat.Jackson's parents were Tampa pioneers Nancy Coller Jackson (born January 22, 1815, in St Mary's, Florida and died March 24, 1907, in Tampa) and Robert Andrew Jackson Jr. (born on 2 May 1802 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania or New York and died on March 2, 1865, in Tampa), whose 1836 marriage is believed to have been the first recorded marriage on Florida's west coast, according to the Times. The farmland included cattle and orange groves; and Jackson piloted passenger and mail ships from Cedar Key to New Orleans and from Tampa to Cuba. The farmhouse's mantel may have been salvaged from the Hiram Cool, an iron-hulled steamship that ran aground. The house is located at 800 East Lambright Street. It has been toured as part of the Old Seminole Heights annual home tour. The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association assisted with the documentation for the designation.

The Hampton Terrace Historic District, originally called the Lakewood Manor Subdivision, is a U.S. historic district located in the Old Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa, Florida. The district is roughly bounded by Hanna Avenue to the north, 15th Street to the east, Nebraska Avenue to the west, and Hillsborough Avenue to the south. Hampton Terrace Historic District was so designated by its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places on January 27, 1999. The Hampton Terrace district encompasses 1,150 acres (4.7 km2), and the neighborhood's boundaries are Hanna Ave, 15th St, Hillsborough Ave, and Nebraska, and includes Lake Roberta. The area contains about 470 contributing structures, all of which are private residences. The structures are considered historically significant examples of residential styles like the bungalow, and architectural influences including American Craftsman Style.

Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe is a restaurant and bar in the Seminole Heights section of Tampa, Florida. Ernie Locke and Melissa Deming opened it in 2009. It is decorated with artwork from regional artists, hosts live music on the weekends, and serves Soul Food on Sundays. It is also known for its chocolate bacon bars. It is part of a group of notable restaurants in Seminole Heights that includes The Refinery (twice nominated for a James Beard Award) and the Independent (restaurant). It is located at 5119 North Nebraska Avenue.

The Tampa United Korean School (TUKS) was formed on March 5, 1995, when local Korean schools in the Tampa area were merged to make in improved centre for Korean language and cultural education. TUKS is a registered non-profit organization in Florida.TUKS offers classes on Korean language, culture and history, by teaching the various levels of Korean language (Hangul) courses and having events on Korean traditional holidays: Chuseok-Korean (Thanksgiving Day), Solnal-Korean (New Year's Day), and Korean Alphabet (Hangul) Day. Other special events are offered throughout the semester such as 'Word contest', 'Storytelling contest', 'Singing contest', 'Drawing contest'. Extracurricular activities include Learning Hangul though Korean children's songs, and Korean traditional dances. TUKS is a member of "The National Association for Korean Schools" and "The Florida Association for Korean Schools".

The Refinery was a restaurant in Seminole Heights, Florida in the United States. It was owned by Michelle and Greg Baker, who offer a weekly menu that includes molecular gastronomy and regional fare using ingredients such as tangerine juice, fennel, fish, acorn squash with bacon and beurre blanc. It received a nomination for the James Beard Award in February 2012. It closed on August 3, 2019.

Hillsborough High School is a public high school located at 5000 N. Central Ave, in the heart of the historic Seminole Heights neighborhood, in Tampa, Florida. Hillsborough High is the oldest public high school in Hillsborough County, Florida. Hillsborough High is one of four Hillsborough county public high schools with an International Baccalaureate program.

Rivercrest is a neighborhood in the northern area of Tampa, Florida, which represents District 6 of the Tampa City Council. The 2000 census numbers were unavailable, however, the latest estimated population was 616.

The Seminole Heights Branch Library is a member of the Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System. The Seminole Heights Branch Library is located on Central Avenue in Tampa and serves the Seminole Heights and Hampton Terrace communities. The library has a very active Friends of the Library group and works closely with the surrounding community, including the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association (OSHNA).

Jean Street Shipyard (established 1843) is a shipyard in the United States, located on the Hillsborough River in Tampa, Florida. It is located approximately 5 miles from the mouth of the Hillsborough River, about 1 mile above the Hillsborough Avenue bridge in what is now the neighborhood of Seminole Heights. It is a full service shipyard with wet slips and a Travelift for hauling vessels from the water.
