Mid-Pacific Institute

The Hamilton Library at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is the largest research library in the state of Hawaii. The Library serves as a key resource for the flagship Manoa campus (a land, sea and space grant institution) as well as the other University of Hawaiʻi system campuses. It was designed by George Hogan who designed numerous houses on the island including Plantation Estate which was used by Barack Obama as his Winter White House.

The Center for Pacific Islands Studies, in the University of Hawaii at Mānoa School of Pacific and Asian Studies, is both an academic department and a research center on the Pacific Islands and issues of concern to Pacific Islanders. Its instructional program is regional, comparative, and interdisciplinary in nature. The university's Pacific Collection is a comprehensive collections of Pacific materials. The center provides international conferences, Web-based resources, its Pacific Islands Monograph Series, and its journal, The Contemporary Pacific.

The following is a timeline of the history of the city of Honolulu, on Oahu, in the U.S. state of Hawaii.

The Fourth Sign is a public artwork by the American artist Tony Smith situated on the lawn outside the Art Building at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The large sculpture is fabricated in steel, painted black, and signifies the fourth Zodiac sign, which is Cancer (a crab). The sculpture was commissioned by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts in accordance with the Art in State Buildings Law. Since its installation, many have seen in its shape as a reference to the legs and claws of a crab.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Shidler College of Business is located in the U.S. state of Hawai‘i and is the state's only public business school with graduate, executive and PhD level programs. Established in 1949, the Shidler College of Business is named after The Shidler Group's Jay H. Shidler, founder and managing partner of The Shidler Group, a Honolulu-based company focused on commercial real estate and credit-related investments. In 2014, Mr. Shidler increased his initial gift of $25 million to $100 million, making it the largest donation at the University of Hawaii from a private donor.The Shidler College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Full-time and Part-Time), a Master of Accounting, a Master of Human Resource Management, an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration (PhD). Through partnerships with international universities, Shidler also offers a Global Master of Business Administration (MBA) with tracks in China, Japan and Vietnam, a Vietnam Executive Master of Business Administration (VEMBA). Shidler also offers a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship. For 2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked Shidler amongst the nation's top business schools. Shidler's international business program was ranked 18th best.

Saint Francis School was a private Roman Catholic school located in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii, in the United States. It was founded in 1924 by the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Neumann Communities. It had an enrollment limited to just over 500 in grades PK through 12. The school closed in 2019.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) of the United States National Weather Service is the official body responsible for tracking and issuing tropical cyclone warnings, watches, advisories, discussions, and statements for the Central Pacific region: from the equator northward, 140°W–180°W, most significantly for Hawai‘i. It is the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) for tropical cyclones in this region, and in this capacity is known as RSMC Honolulu. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the CPHC is co-located with the National Weather Service's Honolulu forecast office on the campus of the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. The Honolulu forecast office activates the CPHC when tropical cyclones form in, or move into, the Central Pacific region. The CPHC replaced the previous forecaster, the Joint Hurricane Warning Center, starting in the 1970 season.

Charles Montague Cooke Jr. House and Kūkaʻōʻō Heiau is a property in Honolulu, Hawaii. The house, also known as Kualii (also spelled Kualiʻi), was built in 1911–1912 for Charles Montague Cooke Jr., and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The listing's boundaries were increased in 2000 to include the Kūkaʻōʻō Heiau (Tax Map Keys 2-9-19:35 and 2-9-19:43, respectively).

The Hawaii Center for Volcanology was a cooperative effort between the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory of the United States Geological Survey, and the Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The loosely organized cooperative was created in 1992 to "bring together experts from around the state of Hawaii so that we might better understand these magical mountains of fire", and consists of approximately 80 scientists. Its site is maintained by members of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology staff, even though it is no longer in operation.

The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (CIMAR) is an oceanic, atmospheric, and geophysical research institute that is sponsored jointly by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) and the University of Hawaiʻi (UH). Formerly incorporated as JIMAR (Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research), it is one of 21 NOAA Cooperative Institutes (CIs).The CIMAR research themes are: Ecosystem-Based Management Ocean Monitoring & Forecasting Ecosystem Monitoring Climate Science & Impacts Ecological Forecasting Air-Sea Interactions Protection & Restoration of Resources Tsunamis (and other long period ocean waves)

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (University of Hawaii–Mānoa, UH Mānoa, Hawaiʻi, or simply UH) is a public land-grant research university in Mānoa, a neighborhood of Honolulu, Hawaii. It is the flagship campus of the University of Hawaiʻi system and houses the main offices of the system. Most of the campus occupies the eastern half of the mouth of Mānoa Valley, with the John A. Burns School of Medicine located adjacent to the Kakaʻako Waterfront Park. UH offers over 200 degree programs across 17 colleges and schools. It is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission and governed by the Hawaii State Legislature and a semi-autonomous board of regents. It also a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities. Mānoa is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity". It is a land-grant university that also participates in the sea-grant, space-grant, and sun-grant research consortia; it is one of only four such universities in the country (Oregon State University, Cornell University and Pennsylvania State University are the others). Notable UH alumni include Patsy T. Mink, Robert Ballard, Richard Parsons, and the parents of Barack Obama – Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham. Forty-four percent of Hawaii's state senators and 51 percent of its state representatives are UH graduates.

Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is the signature program of the East-West Center linking advanced and interdisciplinary analysis of emergent regional issues with experiential leadership learning. It is a certificate program for graduate-level students and mid-level professionals held at University of Hawaii at Manoa campus. Each year's 45 participants come from many countries in Asia-Pacific. The program includes field trips to different cities in United States like Washington DC and Los Angeles and different countries like Japan, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Most APLP participants reside in Hale Manoa Dormitory during their program.
