Carlisle Kingmoor TMD is a railway traction maintenance depot situated in Carlisle, England. The depot is operated by the Direct Rail Services (DRS). The depot was originally used to service diesel locomotives and diesel multiple units. The current depot code is KM. The original steam shed was called Carlisle (Kingmoor) and its shed code was originally 68A and later 12A. The current depot is located on the opposite side of the West Coast Main Line to the original steam shed and was officially opened on 1 January 1968. Under British Rail control, the depot closed in 1987 and lay derelict until 1998 when the site was taken over by DRS. Since then a number of developments have taken place with the installation of a sand tower and increased office space. Kingmoor marshalling yard is situated immediately to the north of the site. On 22 July 2017 DRS organised an open day at Carlisle Kingmoor TMD. During the open day, loco 66301 was named after the depot, receiving plates with the name 'Kingmoor TMD'. 66301 is the first DRS Class 66 to be named since the type entered traffic with the British operations.

Carlisle power stations were two electricity generating stations that supplied electricity to Carlisle and the surrounding area from 1899 until 1980. The first power station (1899–1927) was in the centre of the city near Nelson Bridge, and the second larger station was at Willow Holme North-West of the city (1923–1980).

Austin Friars is a coeducational private day school located in Carlisle, England. The Senior School provides secondary education for 350 boys and girls aged 11–18. There are 150 children aged 4–11 in the Junior School and the Nursery has places for 16 children aged 3–4. Founded by the Augustinian friars in 1951, it is one of the network of Augustinian schools in other parts of the world and welcomes pupils of all denominations.

Port Carlisle Junction was a railway junction between the lines of the former Caledonian Railway and North British Railway companies lines to the north of Carlisle Citadel station in, what is now, Cumbria, England. It opened in July 1863.Port Carlisle Junction railway station was a very short lived station that first came into use in July 1863 and there was some untimetabled use until 29 October 1863, but the station closed as early as 1 July 1864. After closure, the up (northbound) platform was retained for use by those crews requiring change and also for passing messages on to crews.

The River Caldew is a river running through Cumbria in England. The river rises high up on the northern flanks of Skiddaw, in the Northern Fells area of the English Lake District, and flows in a northerly direction until it joins the River Eden on the north side of the city of Carlisle. The Cumbria Way follows most of the course of the river, from its early stages in the Skiddaw Forest to Carrock Fell and again from Caldbeck through to the centre of Carlisle.

Carlisle Canal railway station was opened in 1854 as the Carlisle terminus of the Port Carlisle Railway Company's line from Port Carlisle in Cumbria, England. That line was largely laid along the course of the Carlisle Canal, hence the station's name.

Milecastle 67 (Stainton) is a conjectured milecastle of the Roman Hadrian's Wall. The site of the milecastle has been calculated from measurement to known milecastle sites, but no remains providing proof of its existence have been identified, though Roman coins were found in 1861, during the digging of the adjacent railway cutting.

Uxelodunum (with the alternative Roman name of Petriana and the modern name of Stanwix Fort) was a Roman fort. It was the largest fort on Hadrian's Wall, and is now buried beneath the suburb of Stanwix, in Carlisle, Cumbria, England.
