Southwood Middle School Center for the Arts, more commonly known as Southwood Middle School, is a public secondary school located on 16301 Southwest 80th Avenue in Palmetto Bay, Florida. Its principal is Raul Garcia. The mascot for the school is the SuperStar, a cartoonish star who wears a top hat and carries a cane.

Westminster Christian School is a private PK3-12 Calvinist school in Palmetto Bay, Florida. WCS is governed by a board of directors- 13 people (mostly current parents, although some have been former faculty) elected by parents of current enrollees. It is operated by a Head of School who is hired by the Board. Though the school is Calvinist by charter, its students come from a wide variety of denominations, including Presbyterian, Southern Baptist, Catholic, and Orthodox Christian. The parents of students are required to be active members at their local church (as evidenced by a letter from their pastor), and most of the students consider themselves to be Christians. It is located on 31 acres in the Village of Palmetto Bay, near the Charles Deering Estate. WCS' mascot name is the "Warriors." The athletic booster club is called the "Chiefs." The school colors are Green and White. WCS may be most famous for its baseball program and fine arts – especially in choir and string orchestra. WCS is the home to the 1992 and 1996 USA Today National Champion baseball teams, and won several FHSAA state championships under the direction of former coach Rich Hofman. The 1996 team adorned the cover of one of the first Team Cheerios boxes, and notable baseball alumni include World Series winners Alex Rodriguez and Doug Mientkiewicz. The orchestra has taken first place in several national competitions, as well as superior ratings in district and state competitions. It was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in 2002 and 2006, and has also toured Europe. Westminster Christian School added a new Student Activities Center in 2009, a new Middle School/High School Science Building in 2011, a new Elementary School Building in 2013, and the TIDE Center, a classroom building focused on technology, innovation, design and engineering in 2017. Also, in 2017, Westminster completed the Gutierrez Family Field, which provides additional practice and competition space for the school's growing and accomplished athletic program. In 2019, the WorldWonder Nature Center was added for students in kindergarten through fifth grade convene to study, celebrate, discuss, and piece together the lessons gained in their journeys through WorldWonder. The expansive learning studio boasts glass walls to the south, which allows students to overlook majestic oaks and grounds brimming with areas to be discovered. Preschool students interact with the WorldWonder curriculum at The Discovery Barn, another feature of Westminster Elementary School's curriculum. The Lighthouse, Westminster's new performing arts center is currently under construction and is expected to be ready for the 2020-21 school year. In 2006, Westminster Christian's High School (including the enrolling freshmen) began a program called "Warrior Week." Warrior Week received the Creative Management Award for 2006–2007 from Independent School Management, a leading consulting firm for independent schools. The purpose of Warrior Week is spiritual renewal, relational development, the promotion of academic excellence, in a spirit of fun and adventure.

Palmetto Bay is a suburban incorporated village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Palmetto Bay includes two neighborhoods that were former census-designated places, Cutler and East Perrine. The village is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 24,439 as of the 2020 US census.

Cutler was a pioneer town in Miami-Dade County, Florida that existed from 1883 to 1915, when most of it was absorbed into the Charles Deering Estate. The area adjoining the western border of the estate later became the Cutler census-designated place (CDP) through the time of the 2000 census, after which it was incorporated into the Village of Palmetto Bay. The population was 17,390 at the 2000 census.

Palmer Trinity School is an independent, college-preparatory, coeducational Episcopal day school located on 55 acres (220,000 m2) in Palmetto Bay, Florida (a Miami suburb). The school currently enrolls more than 770 students in grades 6–12.Palmer Trinity is the only Episcopal middle school and secondary school in Miami-Dade County, and along with Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, is one of two secondary schools in the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Florida Council of Independent Schools.

Old Cutler Road is an off-grid plan, 14.9-mile (24.0 km) main northeast–southwest road running south of downtown Miami in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States.

Chapman Field (officially the Subtropical Horticulture Research Station) is a horticulture and agronomy research facility of the Agricultural Research Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), located in Miami, Florida. Dating from 1898, it is one of the oldest entities in South Florida. The USDA also refers to it as the Miami Station.The introduction of economically useful plants into the US is a three-step process: (1) explorers find the plants in foreign countries; (2) the plants are sent back to a USDA introduction garden where they are evaluated; (3) successful plants are distributed to farmers and nurserymen. Chapman Field is the original introduction garden for tropical plants. Over 20,000 plant introductions have been registered at the Miami station since its establishment. Emphasis has been on rubber, cacao, coffee, mango, palm, avocado, lychee, and other plants.

Chapman Field Park is a 483-acre (1.95 km2) urban park in metropolitan Miami in Miami-Dade County, Florida, in the southern part of Coral Gables, Florida on historic Old Cutler Road. Of its 493 acres (2.00 km2), 432 acres (1.75 km2) remain as mangrove forests and saltwater estuaries; 51 acres (21 ha) is developed as a park.

East Perrine was a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida at the time of the 2000 census. In the 1990 census it was part of Perrine census-designated place. It has since been incorporated into the Village of Palmetto Bay. The population was 7,079 at the 2000 census.

Palmetto Bay Academy is the premier, independent, non-traditional secondary school located in Miami, Florida. It was founded in the year 2000 by Lois Dimos M.Ed who was joined by her husband James, Dimos B.A. a few years later. It has hosted hundreds of students over the years who benefitted from a small school environment. In 2015 Mrs. Dimos and Mr. Dimos transitioned to an off-campus leadership role and a new director and associate director were hired. Margaret Eubanks, M.E.d, M.L.S., B.C.S.E., was hired as Director and John Eubanks, M.E.d. was hired as Associate Director. In 2020 Margaret Eubanks and John Eubanks became owners of the school. The school offers college preparatory academic programming in a socially and emotionally supportive setting. Electives, clubs and events make up a large part of the overall curriculum. In the latter part of 2019 and into 2020 Palmetto Bay Academy transitioned seemelessly to distance learning, due to its history of supporting on-campuys as well as homebound students. The student body returned to fully on-campus as of August 2021, however the school still serves homebound students as well. Palmetto Bay Academy is fully accredited by AdvancEd/SACS/Congia The school enrolls up to 42 students per year on campus and works with students through distance education as well.

Florida's 27th congressional district is an electoral district for the U.S. Congress and was first created in South Florida during 2012, effective January 2013, as a result of the 2010 census. The first candidates ran in the 2012 House elections, and the winner was seated for the 113th Congress on January 3, 2013. The 27th district is located entirely within Miami-Dade County. The district includes parts of Miami south of the Dolphin Expressway, including Downtown and Little Havana, Coral Gables, and Kendall. In the 2020 redistricting cycle, Miami Beach was drawn out of the district and into the 24th district, while several places in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, such as Palmetto Estates and parts of Fontainebleau and Westchester were drawn into the 27th district. The district is currently represented by Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, serving since January 12, 2021. She was first elected in 2020 after defeating Representative Donna Shalala in a rematch of the 2018 race.

Howard was a predominantly low income African-American neighborhood of Kendall, an unincorporated community and CDP located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located just west of downtown Pinecrest, and just north of The Falls, a shopping mall.
