KFPH-CD

KTVW-DT (channel 33) is a television station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, airing programming from the Spanish-language Univision network. It is owned and operated by TelevisaUnivision alongside Flagstaff-licensed UniMás outlet KFPH-DT, channel 13 (which KTVW-DT simulcasts on its second digital subchannel). Both stations share studios on 30th Street in southern Phoenix, while KTVW-DT's transmitter is located atop South Mountain on the city's south side. The station's signal is relayed on two low-power translators: Class A station KTVW-CD (channel 6) in Flagstaff, and KDOS-LD (channel 50) in Globe. KTVW is also rebroadcast on the second digital subchannel of KFPH, whose transmitter is located atop Mormon Mountain, about 20 miles (32 km) south of Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest. In addition, KUVE-DT (channel 46) in Green Valley and KUVE-CD (channel 42) in Tucson operate as semi-satellites of KTVW-DT, expanding the Univision signal into Southern Arizona. As such, they simulcast all Univision programming as provided through their parent, and share a website with KTVW. However, the Tucson stations air separate commercial inserts and legal identifications. There is also a three-hour overnight segment on Monday mornings, in which the Tucson stations broadcast locally produced English-language programming in accordance with KUVE-CD's Class A license. Local newscasts, produced by KTVW and branded as Noticias 33, are simulcast on KUVE and KUVE-CD. Although KUVE maintains its own studios on Forbes Boulevard in Tucson, master control and most internal operations are based at KTVW's facilities.

KPNX (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Mesa, Arizona, United States, serving the Phoenix area as an affiliate of NBC. The station is owned by Tegna Inc., and maintains studios at the Republic Media building on Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix (which also houses formerly co-owned newspaper The Arizona Republic); its transmitter is located atop South Mountain on the city's south side. KPNX is also broadcast on satellite station KNAZ-TV (channel 2) in Flagstaff, which formerly was a separate NBC affiliate, and a network of low-power translators across northern and central Arizona. Channel 12 was the second TV station on the air in the Phoenix area, starting in 1953. Originally established in Mesa itself, it was acquired by Phoenix radio station KTAR (620 AM) in 1954 in a maneuver that ended a contest over channel 3 in Phoenix and was co-owned with that outlet for 25 years. It has been owned by Tegna and its predecessor, Gannett, since 1979, when it became KPNX.

KAET (channel 8), known as Arizona PBS, is a PBS member television station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, owned by Arizona State University and operated by ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. KAET's studios are located at the Cronkite School's facility at ASU Downtown Phoenix, and its transmitter is located on South Mountain on the south side of Phoenix. Its signal is relayed across Arizona on a network of 13 translator stations.

KESZ (99.9 FM) is an AC radio station based in Phoenix, Arizona. The station is owned and operated by iHeartMedia. Its studios are located in Phoenix near Sky Harbor Airport and its transmitter is in South Mountain Park.

The South Mountains (O'odham: Muhaḍagĭ Doʼag, Yavapai: Wi:ki'tiyeda, Maricopa: Vii Kwxas), known locally as simply South Mountain, is a mountain range in central Arizona in south Phoenix, Arizona. It is on public land managed by the city of Phoenix as South Mountain Park. Geologically, the South Mountains are thought to be a metamorphic core complex: evidence of movement of the North American tectonic plates from southwest to northeast and northeast to southwest, pushing up a series of mountain ranges including South Mountain. Other ridges with parallel orientation lie within the basin covered by basin fill sediments. The structural basin forms the current Phoenix metro area, which appears flat like a lake around mountains that rise over it like islands. The buried ridges are in the same orientation as the South Mountains, about one km high, and about one km apart from peak to peak, perhaps about 15 of them underneath the basin fill.The mountain, along with the nearby Sierra Estrella, is considered sacred by the Akimel O'odham and the Kwevkepaya band of Yavapai.The South Mountain Preserve is part of the Phoenix Parks System and is the second largest municipal park in the world. The preserve features recreational facilities such as ramadas, hiking and mountain biking trails, and equestrian facilities. The mountains overlook downtown Phoenix, AZ.

KUPD (97.9 MHz, "98 KUPD") is a commercial active rock FM radio station. Licensed to Tempe, Arizona, the station serves the Phoenix metropolitan area. The station is owned by Hubbard Radio, a division of Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota. The radio station's studios are located on North 52nd Street west of Papago Park and its transmitter is on South Mountain Park. KUPD has been nominated as the "Major Market Radio Station of the Year" for the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Award in 2011 and 2012. KUPD was inducted into the Rock Radio Hall of Fame in 2014.

KBAQ (89.5 FM, "K Bach") is a Phoenix metro area FM radio station that plays classical music twenty-four hours per day. It is co-owned by the Maricopa County Community College District and Arizona State University. A member of National Public Radio, its main transmitter was moved from the White Tank Mountains to South Mountain Park in 2006. An additional Translator is located on 89.7 and a live Internet audio stream is available. It is also simulcast on local PBS station KAET (owned by ASU) on digital channel 8.5, where it broadcasts in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The main office and studio complex is located in Tempe (east suburban Phoenix) at the flagship location of Rio Salado College. KBAQ's slogan is "Your classical companion". The station's nickname is a play on the name of composer Johann Sebastian Bach. KBAQ is a sister to the area's flagship NPR station, KJZZ.

KNIX-FM (102.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Phoenix, Arizona, owned and operated by iHeartMedia, Inc. The station airs a country music radio format. The studios and offices are located on East Van Buren Street in Phoenix near Sky Harbor Airport. The transmitter is in South Mountain Park, off Road B, amid other towers for Phoenix-area FM and TV stations.

KPAZ-TV (channel 21) is a religious television station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, owned and operated by the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). The station's transmitter is located atop South Mountain on the city's south side.

KFLR-FM is the Phoenix area affiliate of Tucson-based Family Life Radio, not to be confused with Family Radio. The station airs a contemporary Christian music format with some talk and teaching programs airing as well.

KDPH-LD (channel 48) is a low-power religious television station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, owned and operated by the Daystar Television Network. The station's transmitter is located atop South Mountain on the city's south side.Daystar's presence in Phoenix dates to 2000, but the low-power license began in 1989 as the first Telemundo affiliate for Phoenix, originally on channel 64. Despite being a low-power station, the station, later known as KDRX-LP and KDRX-CA, produced local news programming. In 2002, Telemundo itself acquired KDRX and the co-owned Telemundo station in Tucson, KHRR. Telemundo and Daystar agreed in 2005 to an unusual license and facility swap; Telemundo traded a full-power station in Holbrook, Arizona, KPHZ, and the low-power channel 48 for its full-power KDTP (channel 39), which was accompanied by the redesignation of channel 39 for commercial use. This allowed Telemundo to compete more effectively with Univision in Phoenix.

KUTP (channel 45), branded on-air as Fox 10 Xtra, is a television station in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, broadcasting the MyNetworkTV programming service. It is owned and operated by Fox Television Stations alongside Fox outlet KSAZ-TV (channel 10). Both stations share studios on West Adams Street in Downtown Phoenix, while KUTP's transmitter is located atop South Mountain.
