St John's Church, Waberthwaite

St John the Baptist, is in Corney, Cumbria, England. It is an Anglican parish church in the deanery of Calder, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is Black Combe, Drigg, Eskdale, Irton, Muncaster and Waberthwaite. The church is not a listed building.

Originally called the nunnery of Lekeley from the name of the land it was built upon, the former nunnery of Seaton is to the north of the parish of Bootle, Cumbria, England.

Corney is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Waberthwaite, in the Cumberland district, in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, England. It is in the west of the Lake District, near the A595 road, and it is located north east of Bootle and is 10 miles north of Millom. The name is well known to travellers who take the fell road from Duddon Bridge to Ravenglass, as this route is known as the "Corney Fell Road". It is possible to see the Isle of Man, North Wales and parts of Scotland from Corney on a clear day. In 1931 the parish had a population of 185. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Waberthwaite.Corney is home to a predominantly agricultural community. Corney is also close to the ruins of a 12th-century Benedictine nunnery (no public access). St John's Church dates back to as early as the 12th century.Corney, coincidentally, is almost exactly located at the South West Corner of The British Geological Survey, 1:50,000 Geological Sheet 38 (England and Wales). Corney is underlain by Grandiorite of the Eskdale intrusion, intruded during the Ordovician period.

St Michael's Church is in the village of Bootle, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Calder, the archdeaconry of West Cumberland, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice has been united with those of St John the Baptist, Corney, St Mary, Whicham, and St Mary, Whitbeck. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Bootle (oo as in boot) is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Copeland in Cumbria, England. The parish had a population of 745 in the 2001 census, decreasing slightly to 742 at the 2011 census. Historically in Cumberland, the village is in the Lake District National Park, and is close to the Irish Sea coast. Near to Bootle is the Eskmeals Firing Range, which was a large employer but in the mid to late 1990s reduced the workforce. Also within the parish is Hycemoor, a hamlet situated 1.2 miles (1.9 km) north-west of Bootle, where Bootle railway station is located.
