Noia is a comarca in the Galician Province of A Coruña. The overall population of this local region is 33,054 (2019).

The Serra do Barbanza (Spanish: Sierra del Barbanza) is a mountain range in north-west Spain, extending in a south-westerly direction from Noia in Galicia. The range forms the peninsula between the two rias of ría de Muros e Noia and ría de Arousa in the extreme west of Galicia. Due to the relatively large height of over 600 metres (2,000 ft) with respect to the proximity to the two rias it forms an impressive mountain range though small in length. Highest peaks in the range are Monte Iroite (685 m), Pico Murralla (658 m), Torre de Inxerto (654 m) and Monte Curota (618). Common vegetation on the mountain range is genista and pines. Wild horses are common. Other mammals include the Iberian wolf, fox and wild pig. Barbanza

O Freixo de Sabardes or O Freixo is a village and parish in the Outes Mountain range (Serra de Outes in Galician), which is in the county of Outes, which is in the province of A Coruña, Galiza. In 2012 the population was 991 residents (483 men and 508 women), which was a decrease of 31 from 2011. The local saint, St John the Evangelist (San Xoán Evanxelista in Galician) is celebrated on 27 of December.

Noia (Galician pronunciation: [ˈnɔjɐ]) is a town and municipality in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It is the capital of the comarca with the same name. It has a population of 14,947 inhabitants (2010), being situated in the Province of A Coruña, some 20 miles west of Santiago de Compostela near the mouth of the Tambre river. Noia was a thriving commercial port during the Low Middle Ages, being at that time the third most important town of the bishopric of Santiago de Compostela, after the capital and the town of Pontevedra. From that era it had preserved a notable old quarter, with a series of late Romanesque churches. The "Dia das Letras Galegas" (Day of the Galician Writers) was celebrated in honour of Antón Avilés de Taramancos in 2003 and María Mariño Carou in 2007, both born in this town.

Lousame is a municipality of northwestern Spain in the province of A Coruña, in the autonomous community of Galicia. It belongs to the comarca of Noia. It has a population of 3,657 inhabitants (INE, 2011).

Tremuzo is a summit in the mountain range that limits the Galician ria Ría de Muros e Noia to the north and the highest elevation in the municipality of Outes. If forms the highest elevation close to the sea in that range and therefore offers excellent views to the ria and the Serra da Barbanza mountain range at the other side of the ria. The summit can be reached as an easy hike or as a mountain-bike tour from Ribeira do Freixo.

The Tambre is a coastal river that crosses Galicia, in northwestern Spain. Its basin covers 1,531 square kilometres (591 sq mi). The river flows through the province of A Coruña; the municipalities along its course are Sobrado, Curtis, Vilasantar, Boimorto, Mesía, Frades, Arzúa, O Pino, Oroso, Ordes, Trazo, Tordoia, Santiago de Compostela, Val do Dubra, Ames, A Baña, Brion, Negreira, Outes, Mazaricos, Noia and Lousame. Its mouth forms the Ría de Muros e Noia estuary. It has been designated a Site of Community Importance. In ancient times it was called Támaris, its name being related to that of the River Tamar in Cornwall. It was from the lands north of this river that the Spanish County of Trastámara and the royal House of Trastámara derive their name (Tras-Támara meaning "across the Tambre"). Tamarix may derived its name from the river.

Outes is a municipality in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It has a population of 6,155 (Spanish 2020 Census) and an area of 100 km². The Cando event happened in 1994 within the boundaries of Cando, in the parish of San Tirso. The municipality has five peaks ranging over 500 m, the highest being Monte Tremuzo.

Cando (parish of San Tirso) is a village in northwestern Spain, in Outes, province of A Coruña, and the region of Galicia, with a population of around 1000. It was the location of the observation of a fireball in early 1994, and the subsequent discovery of an explosion site (crater), which has been interpreted by some as being related to UFO activity.

Boiro is a municipality in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It is located in the comarca of Barbanza. Boiro has an area of 86.58 km2. Boiro was where the controversial assisted suicide of quadriplegic Ramón Sampedro took place. The town was later used as a setting for the 2004 film Mar Adentro, chronicling Sampedro's later life. Boiro is also well known for local tourists that come from inner Spain to enjoy the milder climate and landscape, most notably the Barbanza mountain chain, Praia de Barraña (which lies close to the town center), and Carragueiros and Mañóns beaches (one in O Castro parish and the other in Abanqueiro parish).

Club Deportivo Boiro is a Spanish football team based in Boiro, in the autonomous community of Galicia. Founded in 1966 it currently plays in Preferente de Galicia – Group 1, holding home games at Campo de Barraña, which holds 1,500 spectators.

The Monastery of San Xusto (Galician: Mosteiro dos Santos Xusto e Pastor de Toxos Outos), is an old Spanish monastery, today abandoned, in San Xusto, in the municipality of Lousame.
