The Augusta Civic Center is a convention center located in Augusta, Maine. It has a total of 49,000 square feet (4,600 m2) and 26 rooms. The main room is 32,000 sq ft (3,000 m2). The facility includes a main auditorium, two ballrooms, and 23 meeting rooms and full catering services. The arena can host many events such as concerts, gatherings and sporting events.

The University of Maine at Augusta (UMaine Augusta or UMA) is a public college in Augusta, Maine. It is part of the University of Maine System. UMA provides baccalaureate and select associate degrees for residents of Central Maine. The university has campuses in Augusta and Bangor, and courses offered online and across the state.

The Kennebec Journal is a six-day morning daily newspaper published in Augusta, Maine. Colloquially called KJ, it covers Augusta and the surrounding capital area and southern Kennebec County. In August 2023, the newspaper was acquired by the Maine Trust for Local News, a non-profit newspaper group that also publishes the state's largest newspaper, the Portland Press Herald.

Augusta State Airport (IATA: AUG, ICAO: KAUG, FAA LID: AUG) is a public use airport located one nautical mile (2 km) west of the central business district of the state capital of Augusta, a city in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The airport is owned by the state of Maine, but managed and operated by the city of Augusta. It is served by one commercial airline, with scheduled passenger service subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. As per the Federal Aviation Administration, this airport had 3,554 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 3,663 in 2009, and 4,300 in 2010. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a non-primary commercial service facility.

The Lot Morrill House is a historic house at 113 Winthrop Street in Augusta, Maine. Built about 1830, it is a fairly typical example of Greek Revival architecture, executed in brick. The house is notable as the home of United States Senator and Governor of Maine Lot Morrill during the period when he was at his height of power. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Edwards Dam was a hydroelectric dam on the Kennebec River in the U.S. state of Maine. It was located in Augusta, Maine, about 40 miles (64 km) upstream from the Atlantic Ocean. Built in 1837 of timber and concrete, it was 917 feet (280 m) long and 24 feet (7.3 m) high. It is most famous for its removal in 1999, the first removal of a hydroelectric dam by the government against the wishes of the dam owner.The dam originally had a fish ladder, but it was destroyed by a flood shortly after construction. It suffered catastrophic breaches in 1839, 1846 and 1855. In 1999, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) refused the renewal of the dam license due to excessive negative environmental impacts, and the dam was removed, freeing a 17-mile (27 km) stretch of the Kennebec River that had been submerged for 162 years.

The Fuller-Weston House is a historic house at 11 Summer Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1818, it is a fine local example of Federal period architecture, and is further notable for several of its occupants, who include the Chief Justice of the United States Melville Fuller. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It now serves as the rectory of St. Mark's Church.

The Winthrop Street Historic District encompasses a predominantly residential area of Augusta, Maine encapsulating about 100 years of residential home development. The area features high-quality and well-preserved examples of homes from the early 19th to early 20th centuries, as well as two churches and the Lithgow Library. The district occupies a roughly triangular area west of downtown Augusta and north of the state capitol district. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, and enlarged slightly in 2008.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church was a historic church at 9 Summer Street in Augusta, Maine, just west of downtown. The congregation, founded in 1840, occupied an 1886 Gothic Revival stone building designed by Richard M. Upjohn and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for its architecture. The congregation moved out in 2015.

The Dr. J.W. Ellis House is a historic house at 62 State Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1855 for a prominent local doctor, it is a fine example of late Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Crosby Street Historic District encompasses a collection of well-preserved high-quality early 19th-century houses on Crosby Street and Crosby Lane in Augusta, Maine. Located on a rise overlooking the city's downtown, these houses were built by leading businessmen of the period, and are either Federal or Greek Revival in their style. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The All Souls Church is a historic former church building at 70 State Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1879, it is one of Maine's finest examples of Stick style architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
