Olde Kensington, also known as South Kensington, is a neighborhood located in North Philadelphia section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Olde Kensington is north of Northern Liberties, south of Norris Square, east of Ludlow, and west of Fishtown. The boundaries of the neighborhood are roughly between Cecil B Moore Ave (north), Girard Ave (south), Front St (east) and 5th St. (west).After World War II, many neighborhoods in Philadelphia experienced a long period of decline, deindustrialization, and residential abandonment. In recent years, however, Olde Kensington has been increasingly gentrified, following a similar pattern observed in adjacent Northern Liberties and Fishtown. Although some industrial activity has continued along the American Street Corridor, a historic location for heavy industry, a growing number of formerly vacant factories are being turned into lofts, condos, and artistic workspaces. Also, there are two associations that serve the neighborhood: the Kensington South Neighborhood Advisory Council (KSNAC) and Olde Kensington Neighbors Association (OKNA). KSNAC's community meeting is on every 1st Monday of each month.

The National Shrine of St. John Neumann is a Roman Catholic National shrine dedicated to St. John Neumann, the fourth Bishop of Philadelphia and the first American male to be canonized. The shrine is located in the lower church of St. Peter the Apostle Church at 1019 North 5th Street, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The construction of the main church began in 1843. Adjoining the lower church is a small museum, which displays exhibits relating to the life of the saint. The National Shrine of St. John Neumann and St. Peter's Church are under the care of the Redemptorists, the religious community of which St. John Neumann was a member.

Philadelphia Contemporary is an arts organization that commissions and presents contemporary visual art, performance art, and spoken word. It was founded in 2016 with the intention to build a new non-collecting museum in Philadelphia for contemporary art in all of its forms. Philadelphia Contemporary organizes exhibitions and events through partnerships and space-borrowing with institutions such as the Barnes Foundation, Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.In 2018, Philadelphia Contemporary announced that the architecture firm Johnston Marklee would design their new building.

Burk Brothers and Company, also known as Diskmakers, was a historic factory complex located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The complex consisted of 12 interconnected brick and reinforced concrete buildings, built between 1855 and 1913. The buildings were designed for the processing of kidskins into morocco or glazed kid leather.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. They have since been demolished.

The Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia (CTBC) is a Tibetan Buddhist temple located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The center was founded in 1991 by Geshe Losang Samten, a sand mandala artist who served as an attendant to the 14th Dalai Lama.

The Mifflin School, built in 1825, is the oldest surviving school building used in the Philadelphia public school system. It is a two-story, two-bay red brick building, which now has its side walls stuccoed over. In the first phase of the development of the public school system in Philadelphia, 1818–1850, simple school buildings were built by local authorities in a decentralized system. During this period, 49 buildings were built by 7 local school boards, with only 4 surviving.

James R. Ludlow School is a historic K-8 elementary school within the School District of Philadelphia, located in the Yorktown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school building is a Gothic Revival structure designed by architect Irwin T. Catharine (1883–1944) and built in 1926–1927. It is a heavily constructed three-story brick building, nine bays wide with projecting end bays in the Late Gothic Revival-style. Like many similarly-designed Gothic Revival schools in Philadelphia, it features rib vault, heavily tiled corridors, and a stone entrance pavilion with a Tudor-arched opening. The school was named for the Hon. James Reilly Ludlow, or “Judge Ludlow” (1825-1886), President Judge of Court of Common Pleas, No. 3, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a distinguished graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.Ludlow School is located near the National Shrine of St. John Neumann, and near Philadelphia’s up-and-coming Fishtown neighborhood. St. John Neumann was a Bishop of Philadelphia who largely organized and expanded Philadelphia's diocesan school system.

Northern Liberties is a neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to its incorporation into Philadelphia in 1854, it was among the top 10 largest cities in the U.S. in every census from 1790 to 1850.

St. Andrew's Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in Philadelphia. Established in 1897, it is the oldest Eastern Orthodox Christian Church in Philadelphia. The current rector is the Archpriest Mark Shinn. It is located at 5th Street & Fairmount Avenue. The church was built by members of the Russian Navy who were awaiting completion of two Russian warships which were being built at Cramp's Shipyard for use in the Russo Japanese War, the Variag and Retvizan. The reason for the construction was that the sailors had no Russian Orthodox church to attend in Philadelphia and also wished to leave a place of worship for local Russian Orthodox people. The land and all materials and labor were donated by the sailors and construction was completed in 1897. Adjacent to the church stands a small museum with photos, names and uniforms of the sailors who participated in the building of the church and also photos of their two ships which were both sunk by the Japanese during the war.

St. John's Church, Northern Liberties was a historic church at 220–230 Brown Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1815 and is one of architect William Strickland's oldest surviving designs. The same year he also designed the Second Bank of the United States. The church is the seventh oldest surviving church in the state of Pennsylvania, not counting earlier Quaker meetinghouses.In 1931 the church was consecrated as the Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church and was sold by the Episcopalian parish to the Romanian community in 1972. Sometime before 1931, a wooden steeple was built above the entrance. In 1983 the church was added to the National Register.

Integrity Title Insurance, Trust and Safe Deposit Company is a historic bank building located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1902, and an addition was built in 1912. The two-story building is in a German baroque style and has a limestone base with Pompeiian brick and flat stone arches.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Al-Aqsa Islamic Academy is an Islamic private day and weekend school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, established in 1996. It has a coeducational kindergarten through 12th grade. It is affiliated with the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society and is located in a common building, 1501 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19122. Coursework includes Islamic studies, the Arabic language, and Quran classes. In 2004, the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society building received murals and decorative tiling. In 2006, volunteers added more decorative work to the building.There was a December 2015 vandalism incident involving someone placing a pig's head on the property. Pig heads are especially offensive to Muslims. The school has also been a part of interfaith efforts in Philadelphia, including a Muslim/Jewish interfaith basketball game — played on the Philadelphia 76ers home court at Wells Fargo Center— organized by an area teen as part of his Bar Mitzvah project.
