Gustine Lake

Wissahickon Creek is a tributary of the Schuylkill River in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, Pennsylvania. Wissahickon Creek rises in Montgomery County, runs approximately 23 miles (37 km) passing through and dividing Northwest Philadelphia before emptying into the Schuylkill River at Philadelphia. Its watershed covers about 64 square miles (170 km2).Much of the creek now runs through or next to parkland, with the last few miles running through a deep gorge. The beauty of this area attracted the attention of literary personages like Edgar Allan Poe and John Greenleaf Whittier. The gorge area is now part of Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia, and the Wissahickon Valley is known as one of 600 National Natural Landmarks of the United States. The name of the creek comes from the Lenape word wiessahitkonk, for "catfish creek" or "stream of yellowish color." On the earliest map of this region of Pennsylvania, by Thomas Holme, the stream is called Whitpaine's creek, after one of the original settlers Richard Whitpaine, who owned several large tracts on the creek. Whitpaine was an early land owner in the days of William Penn. Industry sprang up along the Wissahickon not long after European settlement, with America's first paper mill set up on one of the Wissahickon's tributaries. A few of the dams built for the mills remain visible today.

The Ridge Avenue Bridge in Philadelphia is a historic bridge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A triple-span stone arch bridge built in 1888, it carries Ridge Avenue over the Wissahickon Creek. It is the last crossing of the creek before it empties into the Schuylkill River. Four other stone arch bridges cross the Wissahickon. The 119.1-ft-long bridge was rehabilitated in 1954. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Wissahickon station is a passenger rail station on SEPTA's Manayunk/Norristown Line in Northwest Philadelphia. In FY 2013, Wissahickon station had a weekday average of 410 boardings and 452 alightings.The station was recently upgraded as part of a major reconstruction project that involved the integration of a former trackless trolley electrical substation and short-turn loop known as the Wissahickon Transfer Center, located across Ridge Avenue and downhill from the rail station. On a typical weekday, the transfer center sees around 7,000 riders.

The Falls Bridge is a steel Pratt truss bridge that spans the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It connects Kelly (formerly East River) Drive at Calumet Street with Martin Luther King, Jr. (formerly West River) Drive at Neill Drive. It replaced a wooden covered bridge at the same site. The 556-foot-long (169 m) bridge, with stonemasonry abutments and two stonemasonry piers, with three Pratt-type pin-connected trusses, was built in 1894–1895 at a cost of $262,000 by Filbert Porter & Co. under the direction of Chief Engineer George Smedley Webster (1855–1931) of the Philadelphia Department of Public Works and James H. Windrim, director of the Department of Public Works. The bridge was designed as a double-decker bridge, but the upper deck was never built for lack of funds. The bridge carries two lanes of vehicular traffic on a 26-foot-wide (7.9 m) roadway, with 7-foot (2.1 m) sidewalks on either side, for a total width of 40 feet (12 m). In 2007, blue LED lights were added to highlight the bridge at night.

Ravenhill is a Renaissance Revival mansion at 3480–90 School House Lane in the West Germantown section of Philadelphia. Designed by architect Willis Gaylord Hale and completed in 1887, the suburban house was built for chemical manufacturer William Weightman. Weightman was popularly known as the "Quinine King" and "the richest man in Pennsylvania."For much of the 20th century, the mansion housed Ravenhill Academy, a Catholic private school for girls. It is now part of the East Falls campus of Thomas Jefferson University.

Wynnefield Heights is a middle class neighborhood located in the greater West Philadelphia area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The neighborhood is bounded by City Avenue to the north, Belmont Avenue to the west, Fairmount Park to the south and east, and the Schuylkill Expressway to the east. The area is also known as Woodside Park or Balwynne Park. "Woodside Park" is the name of a former amusement park that was constructed in 1897 by the Fairmount Park Transportation Company, and that continued in operation until 1955. There are a number of apartment complexes and hotels in the neighborhood as the Schuylkill Expressway (Route 76) and Belmont Avenue provide quick access to Center City, Philadelphia and the near by suburbs located in Montgomery County, PA. Major business and government facilities in the neighborhood are ABC Channel 6's studios, Target, the Phila. Water Dept. Belmont Water Treatment Facility and Reservoir, the Pennsylvania State Police Troop K Barracks, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's (PCOM) main campus. Per 2010 U.S. Census data the community is racially diverse with 36.7% African-American, 48.3% Caucasian, 9.5% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 2.8% Hispanic/Latino. As of 2010 the HUD Estimated Median Family Income for the neighborhood was approximately $76,200. The neighborhood offers a variety of housing types: two-story brick town homes and row duplexes, garden apartments, and mid-rise and high-rise apartment homes. Of the 5,601 total housing units located in the area per 2010 Census data, 1,045 or 18.7% are owner-occupied units. At this time there are no public or parochial schools within the Wynnefield Heights neighborhood. The Wynnefield Heights Civic Association ("WHCA") aims to "promote civic action and interaction between the residents and businesses of Wynnefield Heights for the purposes of creating a safe, clean and responsible community." WHCA holds an annual Community Day in July at the new Woodside Park & Playground located in the neighborhood.

The City Avenue Bridges are twin bridges that span the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although the bridges carry the eastbound and westbound lanes of City Avenue, the bridges are not signed with the U.S. Route 1 designation. The bridges directly connect the Schuylkill Expressway to Lincoln Drive, Kelly Drive, and Ridge Avenue via the Gustine Lake interchange.

East Falls (also The Falls, formerly the Falls of Schuylkill) is a neighborhood in Lower Northwest, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It lies on the east bank of the "Falls of the Schuylkill," cataracts submerged in 1822 by the Schuylkill Canal and Fairmount Water Works projects. East Falls sits next to the Germantown, Roxborough, Allegheny West, and the Nicetown-Tioga neighborhoods. Wissahickon Valley Park separates it from Manayunk, Philadelphia. The neighborhood runs along a few miles of Ridge Avenue, along the banks of the Schuylkill River, then extends northeast to Wissahickon Avenue. It overlooks the multi-use recreational path of Fairmount Park along Kelly Drive, and is desirable for its central location, an easy commute to Center City with easy access to several major roadways and public transportation. The largest center of commerce in East Falls is the Falls Center, which is home for over 18 businesses and an apartment complex.

East Falls station is a station located along the Manayunk/Norristown Line in the East Falls section of Lower Northwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located at Midvale Avenue & Cresson Street and includes a 51 space parking lot. In FY 2017, East Falls station had a weekday average of 835 boardings and 752 alightings.Though little more than a pair of platforms with open shelters and a trailer, it serves as a replacement for a former Reading Railroad station which was opened in 1912, and burnt down approximately in 1982. It contains a staircase leading to Cresson Street and the station on the north side of the viaduct over Midvale Avenue, and a pedestrian crosswalk with a traffic signal exclusively for that crosswalk on the south side.

Chamounix is a historic home located in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Federal-style house was built in 1802 by George Plumsted who was a wealthy Philadelphia merchant, then enlarged to nearly double its original size by subsequent owners after 1853. Chamounix is a 2½-story stuccoed stone dwelling measuring 45 feet long and 47 feet deep, featuring a hipped roof with dormers and a porch on three sides with decorative iron supports. The house served as a country retreat until it was appropriated by the state via eminent domain in 1869 to become a part of Fairmount Park, from which time it was used in various ways including as a boarding house, a restaurant, and a refreshment stand. After years of neglect and then fire damage, the Fairmount Park Commission decided to demolish Chamounix; however, a committee of the former American Youth Hostels (AYH, now HI USA) successfully petitioned to save it and, since 1964, it has served as an international youth hostel.Chamounix was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Thomas Mifflin School is an historic, American school that is located in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of the School District of Philadelphia. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
