Scotford Cogeneration Plant

The Shell Scotford Upgrader is an oilsand upgrader, a facility which processes crude bitumen from oil sands into a wide range of synthetic crude oils. The upgrader is owned by Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP), a joint venture of Shell Canada Energy (60%), Marathon Oil Sands L.P. (20%) and Chevron Canada Limited (20%). The facility is located in the industrial development of Scotford, just to the northeast of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta in the Edmonton Capital Region.

The Sturgeon River is a 260-kilometre-long (160 mi) river in central Alberta. It is a major tributary of the North Saskatchewan River. The river crosses Sturgeon County, which was named for this river. For much of its length, the Sturgeon is the northwestern-most major river in the Hudson Bay drainage basin, as the river runs close to and parallel to the Arctic Divide. At the Villeneuve station, Sturgeon River has a discharge of 0.4 to 3 m3/s.Fish species which may be found in the river include: walleye, pike, perch, burbot, goldeye, sturgeon, whitefish, and sauger.

Josephburg is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Strathcona County. It is located on Highway 830, 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) east of Fort Saskatchewan. It is near Alberta's Industrial Heartland, home to petrochemical industries. The Warren Thomas (Josephburg) Aerodrome, a local airport serving Strathcona County and Alberta's Industrial Heartland, is located near Josephburg. Josephburg was founded by German immigrants.

Hu Haven is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Sturgeon County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada. It is located on the south side of Township Road 554, 0.8 km (0.50 mi) east of Highway 825.

Alberta's Industrial Heartland (also known as Upgrader Alley or the Heartland) is the largest industrial area in Western Canada and a joint land-use planning and development initiative between five municipalities in the Edmonton Capital Region to attract investment in the chemical, petrochemical, oil, and gas industries to the region. It is "home to more than 40 petrochemical companies" and is one of Canada's largest petrochemical processing regions." By July 2015 there was $13 billion invested in new industrial projects providing employment for 25,000 in the Alberta's Industrial Heartland.

Fort Saskatchewan is a city along the North Saskatchewan River in Alberta, Canada. It is 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of Edmonton, the provincial capital. It is part of the Edmonton census metropolitan area and one of 24 municipalities that constitute the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board. Its population in the 2021 federal census was 27,088. The city was founded as a North-West Mounted Police fort and later home to a large provincial jail. The original fort was located across the river from the hamlet of Lamoureux, and Fort Saskatchewan opened a replica of the fort next to its original site in 2011. Fort Saskatchewan is bordered by Strathcona County to the south and east, Sturgeon County to the north and west, and the City of Edmonton to the southwest. Sturgeon County is across the North Saskatchewan River. The city is best known for its proximity to chemical plants, including Dow Chemical, Sherritt International, Nutrien (formerly Agrium), Linde (Praxair), and Shell Canada. It is also known for its flock of 50 sheep that roam the Fort Heritage Precinct throughout the summer months eating the grass.

Redwater is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Sturgeon County. It is located on Highway 38, approximately 52 km (32 mi) north of Edmonton. Its population was 2,053 in the 2016 census, while the town's municipal census conducted in 2012 counted a population of 2,116.

The Fort Saskatchewan Canadian Northern Railway Station is a former railway station in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. It is a designated provincial historic resource. It was built by the Canadian Northern Railway along the east-west Canadian Northern Railway line. The 1+1⁄2-storey, wood-frame building is of a modified third-class station design (100-19 plan) employed at some of the major stops along the line; it is longer than that of most third-class designs. This included a vestibule, kitchen, living room, large general waiting room, separate ladies' waiting room, office and a small freight shed and was augmented with an expansion in 1911, In 1986 an agreement was reached by Canadian National and the town to remove the tracks into town and on September 8, 1987, the last train passed by the station. In 1991, the Fort Saskatchewan Kinsmen Club and Fort Saskatchewan Historical Society restored the station building. It is now part of the Fort Heritage Precinct, the City of Fort Saskatchewan's museum and historic site, and includes a railway museum in the station agent's office, ladies waiting room, and upstairs living quarters. Rooms can be rented to community groups and as of 2020, Miller's Ice Cream shop occupies the north end of the station.The Canadian Northern Railway reached Fort Saskatchewan in 1905, placing the town on a transcontinental rail line. The first bridge across the river was also built at this time, with the railway paying for it in exchange for free land for its station in Fort Saskatchewan. Prior to the bridge, the only method to cross the river at Fort Saskatchewan was via ferry.

The Jubilee Recreation Centre is a 1,586-seat multi-purpose arena in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. It was home to the Fort Saskatchewan Traders ice hockey team. The arena is also referred to as "the JRC". Now only little league hockey, the CJHL Pyramid Corporation Hawks and Fort Chiefs senior men's AAA hockey is played at the location. The city's lacrosse team called The Fort Saskatchewan Rebels play here as well. The town has two other arenas, one in the Dow Centennial Centre and the other in the Sportsplex arena.

Fort Saskatchewan Senior High School (a.k.a. Fort High) is a public high school located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. It serves approximately 450 students in Grades 10 through 12.

The Redwater Health Centre is a 21-bed facility, 14-bed acute care including 1 palliative care bed and 7 long term care bed facility located in Redwater, 65 kilometers northeast of The City Edmonton. The health centre offers many of the main services to the community of Redwater including public health, rehabilitation, mental health, and environmental health services. The health center opened six long-term beds in 2006 due to the increasing amount of wait times in the Fort Saskatchewan health facility. All of the six beds were taken up within days of their opening. The Redwater facility is known for recruiting physicians from around the world, most recently from South Africa.
