Laconia Motorcycle Week

Weirs Beach is an area within the northern part of the city of Laconia in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. The cruise ship Mount Washington terminates there. It is a popular destination of bikers during Motorcycle Week every June. Weirs Beach, or "The Weirs" as it is referred to by locals, is named for a wide, sandy, public beach on Lake Winnipesaukee. Adjacent to the beach and comprising the center of the village are a boulevard and boardwalk that run along a quarter mile stretch of Lakeside Ave. The main summer port of the Winnipesaukee Flagship Company's MS Mount Washington is located on the boulevard. A large public dock is also evident at this popular stop for boaters on Lake Winnipesaukee. On the opposite side of the street are several seasonal arcades and vendors that have been located there for many years. The Winnipesaukee Pier juts out into the lake from the main boulevard. The pier was constructed in 1925 and was a bustling spot for many years attracting many of the most famous big band groups of the time.The Weirs Beach area contains the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Funspot, Mount Washington Cruises, the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, the Weirs Drive-In Theater, several other attractions, and various motels, cottage complexes, and condominiums. There are four marinas in the village for boat rentals, sales, storage, and maintenance. Weirs Beach hosts a regular summer concert series and is the traditional focal point of Laconia Motorcycle Week.

The New Hampshire Veterans' Association Historic District encompasses a large cluster of late 19th-century summer resort properties in the Weirs Beach area of Laconia, New Hampshire, United States. The district is a nearly 8-acre (3.2 ha) area developed by the New Hampshire Veterans' Association, which was formed to support summer reunions of veterans of the American Civil War. Over the following decades the group expanded its range to encompass veterans from all of the United States' war efforts. The architecture of the resort area the association developed is distinctive, as the resort houses were built to accommodate entire regiments. The district includes 18 buildings, five of which front on Lakeside Avenue and have expansive views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Weirs Beach area. Most of the remaining buildings are located on Veterans Avenue, which runs roughly parallel to, and behind, Lakeside Avenue. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The New Hampshire Veterans' Association was founded in 1875, and began holding reunions at Weirs Beach the following year. These were held on land owned by the Concord and Montreal Railroad (later the Boston and Maine), which was only purchased by the association in 1924. From the mid-1880s into the 1890s regimental organizations built predominantly Queen Anne-styled buildings to quarter the reunion attendees and to facilitate their activities.The association's land also has archaeological importance. It encompasses a portion of what was once the Native American village of Aquadoctan, one of the largest settlements in the state with a long prehistoric and historic record. Areas adjacent to this property are also listed on the National Register for their archaeological significance.

Endicott Rock is a state park located on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in the Weirs Beach village of Laconia, New Hampshire. Its principal attraction is a large rock originally in the lake that was incised with lettering in 1652 by surveyors for the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The rock provides definitive evidence of one of the earliest incursions of Europeans into the area. For many years the rock's existence was unknown, until it was rediscovered in the 19th century when the Weirs Channel was dredged. The state then undertook to protect the rock from the elements, building a pavilion over it and stabilizing cracks in the rock with iron fittings. The markings on the rock include "IOHN ENDICUT GOV", a reference to John Endecott, who was then governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the initials of the surveyors. The colony's boundaries, according to its charter, were 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the Merrimack River, and the rock was incorrectly believed by the English party to mark the northernmost head of the river (the headwaters of the Merrimack's main tributary, the Pemigewasset River, are significantly further north, but the survey party was misled by its Indian guides). Admission to the small park is free and offers picnic facilities. (The parking fee in the immediate vicinity is $10.) Materials from the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation sometimes identify the site as a historic site, and sometimes as a state park. A rectangular area surrounding the rock and its sheltering pavilion were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Funspot is an arcade which features one of the largest collections of early-1970s to late-2000s games in the world. It is located in the village of Weirs Beach in Laconia, New Hampshire, United States. Founded in 1952 by Bob Lawton, Funspot includes over 600 video games (both retro and modern), pinball machines, and ticket redemption machines; an indoor miniature golf course; 20-lane ten-pin and candlepin bowling; cash bingo; a restaurant; a tavern; an ice cream stand; kiddie rides; and several other attractions on its grounds. Funspot was officially named the "Largest Arcade in the World" by Guinness World Records at the 10th Annual International Classic Video Game and Pinball Tournament, held from May 29 through June 1, 2008.Originally called the Weirs Sports Center, and located across the street from the Weirs Beach boardwalk, Funspot moved in 1964 to its current home on Route 3. There are 300 games from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s on the floor at any one time in the American Classic Arcade Museum section of Funspot, with the remaining 100 being scattered throughout the arcade. Funspot is home to The American Classic Arcade Museum, a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located on the arcade's third floor, which seeks to preserve the history of coin-operated arcade games.

Paugus Bay is a 1,227-acre (4.97 km2) water body located in Belknap County in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire, United States, in the city of Laconia. A short channel at its north end connects it with Lake Winnipesaukee in the village of Weirs Beach, and a dam on its southern end separates it from Opechee Bay in the village of Lakeport. The bay is named after Chief Paugus, who fought in the Battle of Pequawket during Dummer's War. The 19th-century construction of the dam in Lakeport raised the elevation of Paugus Bay to that of Lake Winnipesaukee. Water flowing out of Paugus Bay travels down the Winnipesaukee River to the Merrimack River. The bay is classified as a cold- and warmwater fishery, with observed species including brook trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, land-locked salmon, lake whitefish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, chain pickerel, white perch, black crappie, bluegill, and horned pout.

Governors Island is one of six bridged islands on Lake Winnipesaukee and is part of the town of Gilford, New Hampshire, in the United States. The island is primarily wooded and residential and has an area of 504 acres (204 ha). The island is an enclave of luxury homes, including some of the most expensive on the lake.

WWLK-FM (101.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Meredith, New Hampshire, and serving the Lakes Region. The station broadcasts a soft adult contemporary radio format and is owned by Dirk Nadon, through licensee Lakes Media, LLC. The studios and offices are on Church Street in Concord, New Hampshire.WWLK-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,000 watts. The transmitter is on Pickerel Pond Road at Parade Road in Laconia, New Hampshire.

WSCY (106.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a new country format. Licensed to Moultonborough, New Hampshire, United States, the station serves the Lakes Region. The station is owned by Northeast Communications Corporation, headed by Jeff Fisher, and features programming from Westwood One and a live morning show hosted by Joyce Danas. The station broadcasts with an ERP of 4,300 watts from Parade Road in Laconia, New Hampshire. WSCY's studios are located in Franklin, New Hampshire, along with sisters WFTN AM–FM and WPNH AM–FM. The station does not stream its signal over the internet.

Laconia Municipal Airport (IATA: LCI, ICAO: KLCI, FAA LID: LCI) is a general aviation airport located three miles (5 km) northeast of the central business district (CBD) of Laconia, a city in Belknap County, New Hampshire, USA. It covers 502 acres (203 ha) and has one runway. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a regional general aviation facility.Though it no longer supports a passenger airline, Laconia was once served by Northeast Express Regional Airlines. Northeast Express utilized an EAS (Essential Air Service) subsidy. Airline service was later provided by Skymaster Airlines, owned by Luke Smith. Smith transformed the service from piston prop Cessna 421-type planes to 15-passenger turbine Beech 99s. Skymaster expanded service from two cities (Laconia and Boston) to five, adding Keene, New Hampshire, Rutland, Vermont, and Newark, New Jersey. Skymaster was sold to three individuals who formed Atlantic North Airlines. Laconia airport sees frequent private jet travel, mainly because of its proximity to the wealthy Lake Winnipesaukee region, the Meadowbrook (Bank of New Hampshire) Pavilion, and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. KLCI has two primary fixed base operators (FBOs), Emerson Aviation and Sky Bright.

BankNH Pavilion (originally known as Meadowbrook Farm) is an outdoor amphitheatre located near Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire, United States. Opening in 1996, the venue seats nearly 9,000 guests. It seats 5,997 under a covered pavilion, 540 reserved lawn seats and 2,850 general admission lawn seats.

Robbie Mills Field is a baseball venue located in Laconia, New Hampshire, United States. It was home to the Winnipesaukee Muskrats of the collegiate summer New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). The Muskrats began play there in the 2010 season. The field was built in 2005 and is named after Robbie Mills, a Laconia boy who was killed and robbed of his bicycle in 1998.Robbie Mills Field has a seating capacity of 1,200 spectators, in uncovered bleachers beyond both the first-base and third-base dugouts. There is also a small bleacher section beyond centerfield, and fans can set up their own lawn chairs beyond the outfield and behind the backstop.

Lakes Region Facility was a state prison in Laconia, Belknap County, New Hampshire, in the United States. The facility was operated by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, and has been closed as of June 30, 2009 as a result of the late-2000s recession.The Lakes Region Facility was a minimum custody transitional facility. Its capacity is 400 inmates but averaged about 300 male inmates. The warden of the facility oversaw inmates housed there as well as inmates in the Calumet and North End Transitional Housing Units, as well as the Transitional Work Center. Lakes Region Facility minimum-security offenders provided over 30,000 hours of community service to state and county agencies and Laconia-area non-profit organizations. The Lakes Region Facility employed 153 people, including 105 corrections officers and 48 non-uniformed employees. Lakes Region was a minimum security transitional prison. In 2004, it became an entirely male facility: minimum security female prisoners were relocated to the Shea Farm Halfway House in Concord, New Hampshire.
