Woodman Point

HNLMS K VIII was one of the three K VIII-class submarines of the Royal Netherlands Navy, built to serve as patrol vessel for the Dutch colonies. Launched in 1922 the boat saw service at the start of World War II, before being decommissioned in 1942.

Henderson Naval Base was a proposed and partially built naval base of the Royal Australian Navy south of Fremantle, Western Australia in what is now the suburbs of Naval Base and Henderson. Planned in 1911, construction of the base commenced in 1913 but was abandoned during World War I and cancelled in 1920. Temporary naval facilities subsequently existed in the state during World War II but a permanent facility was not established until 1978, when HMAS Stirling was commissioned.

SS Alacrity was a tug built in Graville, France in 1893 as Jean Bart and was operated by the Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce. She was sold in 1902 to Howard Smith and renamed Alacrity for tug service in Port Phillip, Australia. During the First World War, she was purchased by the Royal Australian Navy in 1917 for use as a patrol vessel, inspection vessel, and minesweeper based at Fremantle. She was never commissioned. After being sold in 1925, she was slated for breaking up and was moored in Jervoise Bay, Western Australia, until a fierce gale in Cockburn Sound wrecked her in 1931.

Coogee is a southern coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn.

The Coogee Hotel is a historic former hotel and orphanage located in Coogee, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south of Fremantle in the City of Cockburn. After the Second World War, it was used as an orphanage by the Anglican Diocese of Perth. The building still stands on Cockburn Road, and is heritage listed by the State Government of Western Australia. In 2020, it was being redeveloped as a restaurant.

The Australian Marine Complex (AMC) is a marine industry precinct located at Henderson, Western Australia, 23km south of the Perth CBD. It is located on Cockburn Sound.

Lake Coogee is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn, and named after Lake Coogee, located within the suburb.

Cockburn Sound (Nyungar Aboriginal Australian name: Derbal Nara) is an inlet of the Indian Ocean on the coast of Western Australia. It extends from the south of the mouth of the Swan River at Fremantle for about 25 km to Point Peron near Rockingham. The total area of the sound is about 100 km2. It is bounded on the east by the mainland council areas of Cockburn and Kwinana, on the west by Garden Island and Carnac Island, and includes several rocky outcrops and reefs. The Gage Roads shipping channel lies to the north. The sound was named in 1827 by Captain James Stirling, probably after Admiral Sir George Cockburn.The Perth Seawater Desalination Plant can be found here.

The South Fremantle Power Station is a former oil- and coal-fired power station located in North Coogee, Western Australia. The now disused building is listed on the Western Australian State Register of Heritage Places. The building is of Art Deco industrial design. It was the first major power generating equipment in Western Australia designed to operate on 50 Hz.

North Coogee is a coastal, western suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn. The suburb is immediately to the north of Coogee, which takes its name from the lake, Lake Coogee, in the area, which translates to "Body of water" in the native Aboriginal Nyoongar language. Originally this lake was named Lake Munster after Prince William, the Earl of Munster, and later King William IV. The Aboriginal name Kou-gee was recorded in 1841 by Thomas Watson and has been variously spelt Koojee, Coojee and Coogee. North Coogee was created on 19 December 2005 and incorporated portions of the surrounding suburbs of Hamilton Hill, Spearwood and Coogee.

C.Y. O'Connor Beach is a beach in the suburb of North Coogee, south of Fremantle, Western Australia. It extends from McTaggart Cove in the south to Catherine Point in the north and is also known as the CY O'Connor reserve. The C.Y. O'Connor sculpture is one of the features of the beach; the statue is situated in the ocean about 30 meters off the shoreline. The statute acknowledges that this is where Charles Yelverton O'Connor rode his horse into the surf and committed suicide. Also on the beach is the hulk of SS Wyola, which was dismantled there for scrap; alongside it is the remnants of the timber barge that was used. Previously the beach and adjoining land was part of Robb's Jetty Abattoir. The jetty pylons can still be seen in the surf; they stretch out approximately 120 metres (390 ft) from the shore, making a popular shore dive site. The jetty was built in 1870s and closed down in 1992, with the jetty and associated buildings removed in 1994.

Robbs Jetty Abattoir was an operation that was part of the Western Australia government meat export industry between 1921 and 1994. It was located in South Fremantle and it utilised the transport services provided by the Robbs Jetty railway station. It was known variously as Robb Jetty, Robbs Jetty and Robb's Jetty. The abattoir grew out of a complex of private meatworks established in the late 19th century, including Forrest, Emanuel & Company and Connor, Doherty & Durack.In 1921 the Fremantle Freezing Works began operation as one of the three State Government regulated abattoirs under the 1909 Abattoir Act. The abattoir was the destination of the Stacey's Lamb Train and annual delivery on the Western Australian Government Railway system. The Stacy train's route was from Badjaling to Robbs Jetty and it usually required changes in the locomotive being used over the route.Adjacent to abattoirs in Perth, local properties were utilised by skin drying sheds. At times the smells from the operations were objected to. The Midland Junction abattoir was operating at approximately the same time as the Robbs Jetty operation, as well as the Wyndham Meatworks 1919 to 1985. The Air Beef Scheme lasted a shorter time (between 1949 and 1965). All of these operations were linked to the Western Australia's meat industry efforts to have adequate facility to be involved in meat export.The Robbs Jetty abattoir was closed in 1994; the jetty itself had previously been dismantled in the 1960s. The chimney is the only remaining part of the large complex of buildings that included offices, holding yards, freezer and chiller facilities. The chimney is listed in the State Register of Heritage Places.
