Iksan Mireuksaji Stone Pagoda (Korean: 익산 미륵사지 석탑, Hanja: 益山 彌勒寺址 石塔) is located in Mireuksaji (Mireuksa temple site), Geumma-myeon, Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do, and is the oldest stone pagoda remaining in Korea. It is designated as the 11th national treasure.This stone pagoda, built in 639 during the reign of King Mu, is called the primitive style(始原形式) of Baekje pagoda, and in many ways it is the starting point of the entire pagoda in Korea. At the time of dismantling, the height was 14.2m, which is the largest stone pagoda in Korea, and is estimated to be 9 stories originally based on extant materials. This stone pagoda realized the wooden pagoda architecture in stone and reflects the appearance and style of Baekje wooden pagoda.

The Iksan National Museum, formerly the Mireuksaji Museum is located in the city of Iksan, in the North Jeolla Province, South Korea. Iksan was the capital of the Baekje kingdom. The museum displays and preserves the relics excavated from the Mireuksa site, a Buddhist temple, and location of the Mireuksaji Stone Pagoda. It holds different cultural events and summer school for students. Through this, it puts a lot of effort to be a national museum. It also runs various exhibitions and seminars. It opens from 9am to 6pm on weekdays, and it closes on every Monday and the first of January of every year.

Mireuksa (Korean: 미륵사) was the largest Buddhist temple in the ancient Korean kingdom of Baekje. The temple was established in 602 by King Mu and is located 36.012083 N, 127.031028 E, modern Iksan, North Jeolla Province, South Korea. The site was excavated in 1980, disclosing many hitherto unknown facts about Baekje architecture. Mireuksaji Stone Pagoda is one of two extant Baekje pagodas. It is also the largest as well as being among the oldest of all Korean pagodas. The legend of the creation of Mireuksa is told in the Samguk yusa. King Mu and his queen were said to have seen a vision of Maitreya at a pond on Yonghwasan. The King promptly had the pond drained to establish the Mireuksa temple complex. The nine-storey wooden pagoda that once stood in the center of the complex is said to have been the work of Baekje master craftsman Abiji. Designated South Korean Historic Site No. 150, Mireuksa has been partially restored and now includes a museum. On June 20, 2018 the second restoration of the Mireuksa pagoda was completed.

Wonkwang University is a university located in Iksan, South Korea. Founded as Youilhakrim (유일학림) in 1946, it is one of the few academies affiliated with Won Buddhism. Yuilhakrim was succeeded by Wonkwang Junior College (원광초급대학) on 5 November 1951, and gained college status on 29 January 1953. The Postgraduate School was opened in 1967, and in 1971 it gained university status.The university is known for its diverse medical courses: western medicine, dentistry, Korean medicine and pharmacy. Beside medical courses, the school is well known for its specialised courses such as police administration, fire service administration, and law school.Wonkwang University is one of the two only schools in South Korea that have courses for antiques restoration.

Wonkwang Law School is one of the professional graduate schools of Wonkwang University, located in Iksan, South Korea. Founded in 2009, it is one of the founding law schools in South Korea and is one of the smaller schools with each class in the three-year J.D. program having approximately 60 students.

Iksan (Korean: 익산; Korean pronunciation: [ik̚.s͈an]) is a city and major railway junction in North Jeolla Province, (commonly transliterated as Jeollabuk-do or Chollabuk-do) South Korea. The city center and railway junction was formerly called "Iri" (Korean: 이리시; Hanja: 裡里市; RR: Iri-si), but merged with Iksan County (Iksan-gun) in 1995. The railway junction is located at the point where Jeolla and Janghangs meet the Honam Line and the Honam HSR and is served by frequent train service to/from Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, Mokpo, Jeonju, Suncheon, and Yeosu. This city is called “The City of Jewelry." The Iksan Jewelry Museum opened in May 2002 next to a Dinosaur museum. In late November 2006, Korean authorities quarantined a farm in Iksan and began culling poultry and livestock within a 3-kilometer radius to contain an outbreak of the H5N1 bird flu virus.Local tradition includes the story of Seodong and Seonhwa, which was broadcast in 2005~2006 as "Sedongyo" and is also dramatized in the 'Paradise in Autumn Festival.' Festivals with various themes are held in Iksan, all reflecting local history and culture. Iksan station is on South Korea's high-speed KTX railway network, 243 km south of Yongsan station.

The Iri station explosion was a disaster that occurred in Iri, North Jeolla, South Korea on November 11, 1977, at 9:15 p.m. About 40 tons of dynamite carried in a freight train Gwangju exploded at Iri station. The town and train station have both been rechristened as Iksan. At least 56 people were killed.

Jeonju World Cup Stadium is a football stadium in the South Korean city of Jeonju. It is the home of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. The stadium's capacity is 42,477. The final of 2011 AFC Champions League was held at this stadium.

Jeonju Mill is a pulp mill and paper mill situated in Jeonju, South Korea. Owned by Jeonju Paper, the mill produces 850,000 tonnes of newsprint and magazine paper annually. The mill sources fibers both from virgin wood, including sawmill residue, as well as from deinking. The mill has four paper machines. The mill has the third-largest production capacity for newsprint in the world and the largest deinking mill in the world.
