Mount Wellington (Tasmania)

The Division of Denison was an Australian electoral division in Tasmania, before being replaced by the Division of Clark as part of a 2016–17 redistribution.

The Division of Clark is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Tasmania, first contested at the 2019 federal election.

The electoral division of Clark is one of the five electorates in the Tasmanian House of Assembly, it is located in Hobart on the western shore of the River Derwent and includes the suburbs below Mount Wellington. Clark is named after Andrew Inglis Clark, a Tasmanian jurist who was the principal author of the Australian Constitution. The electorate shares its name and boundaries with the federal division of Clark. The electorate was renamed from the electoral division of Denison in September 2018. Denison was named after Sir William Denison, who was Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land (1847–55), and Governor of New South Wales (1855–61). The renaming of the electorate to Clark was in line with the renaming of the federal division of Denison to Clark. Clark and the other House of Assembly electoral divisions are each represented by five members elected under the Hare-Clark electoral system (also named after Andrew Inglis Clark).

Wellington Park is a rural locality in the local government areas of Derwent Valley, Hobart, Glenorchy, Huon Valley, and Kingborough in the South-east and Hobart regions of Tasmania. It is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) west of the Hobart CBD. The 2016 census determined a population of nil for the state suburb of Wellington Park.

Fern Tree is a rural / residential locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Hobart (64%) and Kingborough (36%) in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) south-west of the town of Hobart. The 2016 census recorded a population of 726 for the state suburb of Fern Tree.It is an outlying suburb of Hobart. The name Fern Tree is adapted from the common name of the plant Dicksonia antarctica (Tasmanian tree fern), which grows abundantly in the area. Set beneath Mount Wellington, whose summit is at 1270 metres above sea level, Fern Tree is 9 km by road from Hobart's central business district.

The electoral division of Hobart is one of the 15 electoral divisions in the Tasmanian Legislative Council. It was originally created in 1856 when the Council became the upper house of the Parliament of Tasmania. The seat was abolished in 1999 and re-created in 2008 after a redistribution saw the former division of Wellington returned to its former name. The total area of the division is 62.29 square kilometres (24.05 sq mi), which covers the Hobart city centre and the suburbs of Battery Point, Dynnyrne, Fern Tree, Glebe, Lenah Valley, Mount Stuart, New Town, North Hobart, Ridgeway, South Hobart, and West Hobart. As of 31 January 2019, there were 24,007 enrolled electors in the division.Since 2012, the member in the Legislative Council has been Independent MLC Rob Valentine, who was the Lord Mayor of Hobart from 1999 to 2011. The next election in the division is due in May 2018.

Tolosa Park is a park in Glenorchy, Tasmania. It contains a dam and water reservoir which was built in the 1890s and used by TasWater until 2017.Tolosa Park also hosts outdoor concerts, and was the venue for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's Symphony Under the Stars until 2018.

The electoral division of Elwick is one of the 15 electoral divisions in the Tasmanian Legislative Council. The division covers most of the municipality of Glenorchy. The total area of the division is 98.37 square kilometres (37.98 sq mi).As of 31 January 2019, there were 24,010 enrolled voters in the division. The current member in the member in the Legislative Council is Josh Willie who was elected in 2016. The next election in the division of Elwick is due in May 2022.

The Lady Franklin Gallery and Ancanthe Park is a historic sandstone museum and 2.96-hectare (7.3-acre) parkland in Lenah Valley, Tasmania, Australia. When it opened on 26 October 1843, it became the first privately funded museum in Australia.

Lenah Valley is a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania. It is situated in the foothills of Mount Wellington, north of the CBD between Mount Stuart, New Town and the City of Glenorchy. Lenah Valley was originally known as Kangaroo Bottom, later Kangaroo Valley and Sassafras Valley. The suburb was amalgamated as Lenah Valley in 1922. Lenah is the Mouheneenner word for kangaroo.

Ridgeway is a rural / residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Hobart in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south-west of the town of Hobart. The 2016 census recorded a population of 175 for the state suburb of Ridgeway. It is a suburb of Hobart, located south of Dynnyrne. In Ridgeway there are two plant nurseries (Plants of Tasmania Nursery and Island Bonsai), and a small number of homes. Prior to the 1967 bushfires, Ridgeway was a market garden area with its own school and church. There also used to be another nursery next to Plants of Tasmania.

West Moonah is a residential suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is part of the City of Glenorchy local government area, with about 5% being in the Hobart LGA. At the 2016 Australian census, the suburb recorded a population of approximately 1,000. Formerly known as Springfield, the area is fast becoming acceptable because of its closeness to the city. The West Moonah Community Centre is a hub for community activities in the community. Located next to a park, the Community Centre offers a community preschool, playgroups, community garden, community computer lab, craft classes, walking and other community activities. West Moonah has two schools. Springfield Gardens Primary School is a public school and the independent Seventh-day Adventist Hilliard Christian School. There are also two parks, including the Jim Bacon Reserve with its community pathway. West Moonah is nearby shopping areas, schools, churches, government services, sporting facilities and childcare centres in the neighbouring suburbs of Glenorchy, Derwent Park and Moonah. West Moonah is serviced by one bus route. By car, West Moonah is 15 minutes from downtown Hobart and 6 minutes from New Town.
