Hobart City Council (or City of Hobart) is a local government body in Tasmania, covering the central metropolitan area of the state capital, Hobart. The Hobart local government area has a population of 53,684 and includes the suburbs of West Hobart, Lenah Valley, Mount Stuart, South Hobart, New Town, Sandy Bay and most of Fern Tree, North Hobart and Mount Nelson .

Cascades is a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is immediately west of the city centre, in the foothills of Mount Wellington. It is the location of the Cascade Brewery. The suburb is between South Hobart and Fern Tree; and incorporates residential areas on Strickland Avenue and Huon Road.

Cascade Brewery is a brewery established in 1824 in South Hobart, Tasmania and is the oldest continually operating brewery in Australia.As well as beer, the site also produces a range of non-alcoholic products. It is home to a function centre, as well as operating tourism related ventures including guided tours and a retail outlet.

The Cascades Female Factory, a former Australian workhouse for female convicts in the penal colony of Van Diemen's Land, is located in Hobart, Tasmania. Operational between 1828 and 1856, the factory is now one of the 11 sites that collectively compose the Australian Convict Sites, listed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO.Collectively the Australian Convict Sites represent an exceptional example of the forced migration of convicts and an extraordinary example of global developments associated with punishment and reform. Representing the female experience, the Cascades Female Factory demonstrates how penal transportation was used to expand Britain's spheres of influence, as well as to punish and reform female convicts. Now operational as a museum and tourist attraction, the site is managed by the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority. The Cascades Female Factory Historic Site consists of three of the original five yards. It is open every day (except Christmas) and offers a range of tours.

Kelly's Steps is an architectural landmark in Hobart, Tasmania. The steps, named after early Australian explorer and whaler James Kelly, connect the suburb of Battery Point to Salamanca Place. At the time Kelly constructed the steps in 1839, Battery Point was on a cliff that overlooked wharfs of Sullivans Cove. The steps were cut into the stone of the cliffs. The warehouses that lined the wharfs on what is now Salamanca Place were built with stone quarried from the cliffs. The steps lead up to Kelly Street, Battery Point. At the foot of the steps, Kelly's Lane leads to Salamanca Place.

The Lady Franklin Gallery and Ancanthe Park is a historic sandstone museum and 2.96-hectare (7.3-acre) parkland in Lenah Valley, Tasmania, Australia. When it opened on 26 October 1843, it became the first privately funded museum in Australia.

Lenah Valley is a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania. It is situated in the foothills of Mount Wellington, north of the CBD between Mount Stuart, New Town and the City of Glenorchy. Lenah Valley was originally known as Kangaroo Bottom, later Kangaroo Valley and Sassafras Valley. The suburb was amalgamated as Lenah Valley in 1922. Lenah is the Mouheneenner word for kangaroo.

Darcy Street, officially the South Hobart Oval, is a multi-use stadium in Hobart, Australia. It is mainly used for soccer and is the home ground for South Hobart FC. The stadium has a capacity of 1,500 people.

Mount Stuart is a suburb of Hobart that lies on a ridge that extends from a foothill of Mount Wellington, known as Knocklofty.

Fern Tree is a rural / residential locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Hobart (64%) and Kingborough (36%) in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) south-west of the town of Hobart. The 2016 census recorded a population of 726 for the state suburb of Fern Tree.It is an outlying suburb of Hobart. The name Fern Tree is adapted from the common name of the plant Dicksonia antarctica (Tasmanian tree fern), which grows abundantly in the area. Set beneath Mount Wellington, whose summit is at 1270 metres above sea level, Fern Tree is 9 km by road from Hobart's central business district.

The Division of Denison was an Australian electoral division in Tasmania, before being replaced by the Division of Clark as part of a 2016–17 redistribution.
