Haddon Township High School

Westmont is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Haddon Township in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08108. The downtown portion of the township is known as Westmont, a name probably derived from a noted harness racing horse.

The Haddon Township School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Haddon Township, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprised of seven schools, had an enrollment of 2,060 students and 165.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.4:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.A lobbying effort by students at Strawbridge Elementary school led John A. Rocco and Thomas J. Shusted to introduce a bill to name the hadrosaurus foulkii as the official state dinosaur; the legislation was signed into law by Governor James Florio with students from the school in attendance at the signing ceremony.

Saddler's Woods is a 25 acres (10 ha) forest in Haddon Township, Camden County, New Jersey that includes the headwater spring of Newton Creek. Despite its location just 5 miles (8.0 km) from Philadelphia, Saddler's Woods includes wetlands, young woodlands, and old-growth forest. The Arowmen and Erinwonek tribes of the Lenape people once lived in the area. Beginning in the 17th century, the surrounding forests were cleared for farms, timber, and fuel by European settlers. The woods are named for a nineteenth-century owner, Joshua Saddler, who in 1868 he wrote in his will that none of his heirs "shall cut the timber thereon." When threatened by development, part of the Woods was purchased by the Township in 1999. The remaining area was protected by a conservation easement in 2003. The Saddler's Woods Conservation Association currently works to restore and maintain the Woods. Tree species in the Woods include Eastern Black Oak, White Oak, Northern Red Oak, American Beech, Tulip Poplar, and Red Maple. Some trees measure 13 feet (4.0 m) in diameter and are 300 years old. There are American Chestnut and Spicebush in the understory.

As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 15,407, an increase of 700 (+4.8%) from the 2010 census count of 14,707, which in turn reflected an increase of 56 (+0.4%) from the 14,651 counted in the 2000 census.Under the terms of an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 23, 1865, Haddon Township was incorporated from portions of Newton Township. The following communities were subsequently created from the Haddon Township: Haddonfield (April 6, 1875), Collingswood (May 22, 1888), Woodlynne (March 19, 1901), Haddon Heights (March 2, 1904), Audubon (March 13, 1905) and Oaklyn (also March 13, 1905). The township was named for early settler Elizabeth Haddon.Haddon Township allows the sale of alcohol, and has several bars and restaurants which serve alcoholic beverages, unlike the neighboring boroughs of Collingswood, Haddonfield and Haddon Heights which prohibit the sale of alcohol.

The school, founded in 1966, is named in honor of Pope Paul VI and is overseen by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden. Westmont station was built in a manner similar to that of nearby Collingswood station, with a single island platform. East of the station, the line descends from an elevated structure to an open cut.
