Sarria is a comarca in the Galician Province of Lugo. The overall population of this local region is 22,569 (2019).

The Monastery of San Xulián de Samos (Galician: Mosteiro de San Xulián de Samos; Spanish: Monasterio de San Julián de Samos) is an active Benedictine monastery in Samos, Galicia, Spain. It was founded in the sixth century. The monastery was the School of Theology and Philosophy. It is also an important stop on the Way of Saint James, a pilgrimage leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great.

Lugo is a province of northwestern Spain, in the northeastern part of the autonomous community of Galicia. It is bordered by the provinces of Ourense, Pontevedra, and A Coruña, the principality of Asturias, the State of León, and in the north by the Cantabrian Sea (Bay of Biscay). The population is 331,327 (2018), of whom a quarter live in the capital Lugo. The capital city was an ancient Celtic settlement named in honour of the god Lugh (see Lyon), later Latinised as Lucus Augusti, and which became one of the three main important Galician-Roman centres alongside Braccara Augusta and Asturica Augusta (modern Braga and Astorga respectively). The province has 67 municipalities.

The constituency currently elects four deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Lugo. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent.

Lugo is one of the four constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Parliament of Galicia, the regional legislature of the autonomous community of Galicia. The constituency currently elects 14 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Lugo. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of five percent.

Lugo is one of the 59 constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Senate of Spain, the upper chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency elects four senators. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Lugo. The electoral system uses an open list partial block voting, with electors voting for individual candidates instead of parties. Electors can vote for up to three candidates.

The Agricultural Biodiversity and Rural Development Institute - IBADER is a research university joint institute, created in 2001, with headquarters in the city of Lugo. This institution belongs to the University of Santiago de Compostela in its Campus from Lugo. Nowadays is formed by the University of Santiago de Compostela, Xunta de Galicia and Deputación Provincial de Lugo.

Polvorín Fútbol Club, previously Sociedad Deportiva e Cultural Polvorín, is a Spanish football team based in Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia. Founded in 1991, it plays in Tercera División RFEF – Group 1, holding home matches at Campo de Fútbol O Polvorín with a capacity of 2,500 seats. The club acts as a reserve team of CD Lugo since 2015.
