The E.B. Mallett Office Building is a historic commercial building on Mill Street in Freeport, Maine. Now part of the Freeport Village Station shopping complex, it is an 1888 Italianate brick building designed by Portland architect Francis Fassett for Freeport's leading businessman of the period. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Freeport station is a passenger rail station in Freeport, Maine, which is located on Amtrak's Downeaster line. The Downeaster operates from North Station in Boston to Brunswick Maine Street Station in Brunswick, Maine, via the Portland Transportation Center in Portland, Maine. Freeport was part of a $38.3 million project to rehabilitate 30 miles (48 km) of track between Portland and Brunswick. Most of the money came from the federal government with an additional $500,000 of state money spent on platforms on Freeport and Brunswick. The first official service to the station was on November 1, 2012.

Jameson Tavern is an historic building on Main Street in Freeport, Maine, United States. It was completed in 1779, as a home for local physician Dr. John Anglier Hyde, a decade before the town was incorporated and when it was part of North Yarmouth, then in Massachusetts. It stands across the side street Justin's Way from L.L.Bean's flagship store.It became an important meeting place during the discussions regarding the District of Maine's secession from Massachusetts in the early 19th century. It is believed representatives of the Joint Commission of Massachusetts and Maine met on the second floor of the building ("in its northeastern corner") in 1820 to sign the final papers giving Maine its independence, thus giving it the claim that it is the "birthplace of Maine." The Daughters of the American Revolution installed a plaque, describing these events, on the property in 1914. The Freeport Historical Society, meanwhile, has said it has found no record that the commissioners ever met in town.Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and John Greenleaf Whittier, as well as United States president Franklin Pierce, are understood to have visited the tavern.The property was built by Dr. John Anglier Hyde, a local physician. (Hyde's daughter, Mary, married Ebenezer Wells, professor of obstetrics at the Medical School of Maine.) Shortly after the home's completion, it was sold to Captain Samuel Jameson (1766–1814). It was run as a tavern between 1801 and 1828, when Jameson's widow sold it.The tavern became Codman's Tavern, owned by Richard Codman, in 1828. He was the proprietor for 28 years, at which point it was purchased by John Cushing, a local shipbuilder.Today, it is known as Jameson Tavern once again, and it is operated as such, albeit only in the building's rear wing; the main building is now a tourist-information office for visitors to the town. The tavern closed in 2013, but has since reopened. It was put on the market in 2019.As of 2023, Double Barrel, a specialty beer and wine store, occupies the Jameson Tavern formal dining room.

The Harraseeket Inn is a historic inn on Main Street, U.S. Route 1, in Freeport, Maine, United States. Although today's business was established in 1984, the building it occupies was built in 1854.

Freeport High School is a public high school in Freeport, Maine, United States for students in grades 9–12 residing in the towns of Freeport, Durham, and Pownal. Freeport High School is one of four schools in the Freeport School District; the others being Mast Landing School, Morse Street School, and Freeport Middle School.

L.L.Bean is an American privately held retail company that was founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean. The company, headquartered in the place in which it was founded, in Freeport, Maine, specializes in clothing and outdoor recreation equipment.

Freeport is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. Freeport is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan New England City and town area. The population was 8,737 at the 2020 census. Once home to a prominent shipbuilding industry, timber operations, and farming, it is now known for its numerous outlet stores; Freeport is home to L.L. Bean, Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, and the Desert of Maine. Freeport is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. The Harraseeket Historic District is in Freeport.

Pine Tree Academy (also known as Pine Tree or PTA) is a Seventh-day Adventist, co-educational University preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades K–12. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system. The school is located in Freeport, Maine, north of Portland. Pine Tree Academy was founded in 1921 on a farm near Auburn, Maine. The school closed in 1933 because of The Depression. In 1961, the academy reopened as Pine Tree Memorial School in Freeport. In 1973, the school began offering all four years of the high school grades. Today, the academy is the oldest academy in the Northern New England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Adventist Accrediting Association. The academy has two sports programs—basketball and soccer. The basketball teams are members of the Maine Principals' Association. The soccer teams are members of the Maine Christian School Sports League. In 2018, Derek Michael Boyce, a high school math and science teacher at the school, was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students, a fifteen-year-old girl.

Randall Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Freeport, Maine, United States. Located at the corner of Lower Main Street (U.S. Route 1) and Desert Road, it contains seventeen headstones, the earliest dating to 1831. The small plot contains pine trees both in and around its low dry stone wall.The cemetery was part of the Randall family farm, run by Isaac (1770–1850) and Mercy Randall (1776–1840), a site now occupied by a Shaw's grocery store. The farm house and buildings were on the Shaw's side of the street, then a dirt track, while a barn stood on the opposite side of today's Lower Main Street. All the buildings were demolished when construction on the ramps to and from Interstate 295 began.

The Pettengill House and Farm is a historic conservation property in Freeport, Maine, United States. Now owned by the Freeport Historical Society, this farm was in active use from at least 1831 until 1960. More than 140 acres (57 ha) of its original 180 acres (73 ha) have been preserved, as has the c. 1800 saltbox farmhouse. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and is part of the 1974 Harraseeket Historic District. The farm is located at the southern end of Pettengill Road in Freeport's Mast Landing area. (The name is erroneously spelled Pettengil on the street sign and, subsequently, on some maps.) The house faces south, looking down the Harraseeket River. The property's trails are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.

The Captain Greenfield Pote House is an historic house located on Wolfe's Neck Road in Freeport, Maine, United States. Built c. 1750 and supposedly moved to this location in 1765, it is Freeport's oldest surviving building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and is part of the Harraseeket Historic District. The property is owned by the Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment.

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park is a public recreation area located on Casco Bay on the southeastern side of Freeport, Maine. The state park occupies 244 acres (99 ha) on a narrow peninsula, Wolfe's Neck, that runs between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River. It includes white pine and hemlock forests, salt marsh estuary, and rocky shore. The park is managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.
