Rhandirmwyn

The Pwllpriddog Oak (Welsh: Derwen Pwllpriddog), also known as the Rhandirmwyn Oak, is a 600–700-year-old tree located in farmland near Rhandirmwyn in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Recently it has served as a duck roost and a music venue. In 2018 the tree was named Welsh Tree of the Year in a public vote.

The Cilycwm television relay station is sited on high ground to the east of the village of Cilycwm to the north of Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. It was originally built in 1987 as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue colour television covering the communities of Cilycwm and Rhandirmwyn. It consists of a 17 m self-standing lattice steel mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 190 m above sea level. The transmissions are broadly beamed west and east (through north) to cover the targets. The Cilycwm transmission station is owned and operated by NTL. Cilycwm transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Carmel about 40 km to the southwest. When it came, the digital switchover process for Cilycwm duplicated the timing at Carmel with the first stage taking place on 26 August 2009 and with the second stage being completed on 23 September 2009. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 2 W each.

Cynghordy railway station () serves the rural community of Cynghordy near Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The station is on the Heart of Wales Line 46+3⁄4 miles (75 km) north east of Swansea and is located at street level at the end of a gravel track off a lane that is just off the main A483 road. After departing this station heading northbound, the train crosses the Cynghordy Viaduct where panoramic views of the surrounding countryside can be seen. The grade II* listed 18-arch viaduct carries the route across the Afon Bran valley on a gentle curve - it is 102 feet (31 m) high and 850 feet (260 m) long and was built from sandstone and brick between 1867 and 1868. The viaduct is visible, using good binoculars, from the highest Black Mountain ridges.

Cynghordy () is a village in the rural community of Llanfair-ar-y-bryn in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It lies on the A483 road northeast of the town of Llandovery, and is served by Cynghordy railway station on the Heart of Wales Line.

Llanfair-y-bryn is a community and Church in Wales parish in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Covering an area of some 95 km², it lies along and to the northwest and southeast of the A483 Swansea to Chester road immediately north of the town of Llandovery. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 624. The term also referred to a church located outside the parish.

Fforest is a small upland area adjoining the Vale of Towy, some 4 km north of the town of Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Stretching for a distance of 4 km from southwest to northeast the area rises to two separate summits either side of a broad saddle; one at 297m in the south and a second one to the northeast crowned by a triangulation pillar which attains a height of 341m. The ridge is privately owned hence there is no public access to any part of it though it is encircled by public roads and paths. The hills are formed from silty grey mudstones of uppermost/latest Ordovician age ascribed to the Yr Allt Formation.

The Church of St Michael, Cilycwm is the Church in Wales parish church for the parish of Cilycwm, near Llandovery, Wales. The rubble building with pink stone dressings dates to the 14th and 15th century, with restoration work being undertaken between 1905 and 1909. The church is located in the centre of the village of Cilycwm.

Cilycwm (Welsh: Cil-y-cwm, IPA: [ˈkiːl ə ˈkʊm]) is a village, parish and community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The community population taken at the 2011 census was 487. Cilycwm lies on the west bank of Afon Gwenlais, a tributary of the River Towy (Tywi), north of the town of Llandovery. Pont Dolauhirion, a bridge that crosses the Towy at the south of the community was designed by William Edwards and is a copy of his famous bridge at Pontypridd. The bridge is a grade I listed structure. The parish church of St Michael's is also a grade I listed building.

Abercrychan is a small village in the north-east of Carmarthenshire. It is located on the A483, 4 miles to the north of the town of Llandovery. The village is named after the River Crychan, a small stream that flows into the River Brân, near the village. Crychan Forest is on the slopes to the east of Abercrychan.

Mynydd Mallaen (Welsh: [ˈmənɨð ˈmaɬai̯n]) is an expansive plateau to the northwest of Cilycwm in northeast Carmarthenshire, Wales. It forms part of the Cambrian Mountains massif, and is north-west of the Black Mountain (range) in the Brecon Beacons. It takes the form of an undulating plateau with steep slopes dropping away to the Towy valley to the east and those of the Gwenffrwd, Nant Melyn and Afon Cothi to the north and west. Its highest point of 1516 feet or 462m at OS grid reference SN 723455 is surmounted by two Bronze Age cairns known as Crugiau Merched (which translates from Welsh as ladies' barrows). Caeo Forest covers much of the southern flanks of the hill and smaller forests also cover its eastern slopes. Much of the native woodland consists of sessile oak groves, especially on the valley sides. The human population is very low, being restricted to hill farms engaged in sheep farming, and some holiday cottages.

The Llandovery transmitting station is a telecommunications facility located to the north of Llandovery and east of Cynghordy, in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It has a self-supporting 40 m lattice mast erected on land that is itself about 312 m above sea level. The site was originally built by the IBA, entering service in 1968 transmitting the now-defunct 405-line VHF television system. As well as providing an ITV service to the town of Llandovery some 8 km to the south west the site also transmitted to the north east, primarily to provide a link-signal for the ITV transmitter at Llandrindod Wells. The north easterly transmission also provided the ITV service to the villages of Llanwrtyd Wells and Llangammarch Wells. When UHF 625-line colour TV came to mid Wales in the 1970s the Llandovery locality was covered by the main transmitter at Carmel and so this site was not needed as a repeater. The villages of Llanwrtyd Wells and Llangammarch Wells were subsequently covered by a UHF relay station at Llanwrtyd Wells which came into service in the early 1980s. The nearest UHF relay to the Llandovery site is at Cilycwm 5.4 km to the west. 405-line television from Llandovery was shut down in January 1985.

Dolauhirion Bridge (Welsh: Pont Dolauhirion) is a single arch stone bridge which carries road traffic from Llandovery to Cilycwm over the River Towy (Welsh: Afon Tywi) in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is a grade I listed structure. At the time the bridge was built the road was the main coach road from Llandovery to Lampeter. Various wooden bridges had stood at the site until the present stone bridge was built in 1773 by the minister and bridge builder William Edwards. He had built several single arch stone bridges in Wales, particularly at Pontypridd, where he had constructed what was then the biggest single arch (140 feet (43 metres)) in the world. The Dolauhirion bridge has a span of 83 feet (25 metres) and a carriageway width of 12 feet (3.7 metres) with parapets. Typical of Edward's designs the bridge has circular openings in the spandrels, which relieve stress on the main structure in times of flood, and reduce weight and thus pressure on the arch.
