Preemption Line

Border City is a hamlet on the border of the City of Geneva in Ontario County and the Town of Waterloo in Seneca County, New York, United States, near Seneca Lake. It dates back to 1788 when the Pre-Emption Line was drawn from the Pennsylvania border to Lake Ontario, thus creating Upstate New York. The "Border" referred to is the former Massachusetts and New York border. It is when Phelps & Gorham secured the purchase of 6+ million acres from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the State of New York that we now know was created. It is located just east of Geneva, at an elevation of 463 feet (141 m). The primary cross roads where the hamlet is located are East North Street (CR 4), Border City Road (CR 110) and Pre-Emption Street. U.S. Route 20 and N.Y. Route 5 (Known locally as Route 5 and 20) passes just south of Border City. Seneca Lake State Park is located just south of the hamlet.

St. Francis deSales Church is a historic Catholic church in Geneva, New York. A historic district of the church and three associated buildings, designated St. Francis de Sales Parish Complex, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

East Geneva, also called Serven, is a hamlet in the Town of Waterloo, Seneca County, New York, United States, near Seneca Lake. It is located three miles (5 km) east of the City of Geneva and five miles (8 km) west of the Village of Waterloo, at an elevation of 472 feet (144 m). The primary cross roads where the hamlet is located are U.S. Route 20/N.Y. Route 5, Border City Road (CR 110), Serven Road and Seneca Boulevard.

Geneva General Hospital is a 132-bed hospital in upstate New York with additional outpatient services via clinics. It was founded in 1898 and also operates two nursing homes and a nursing school; the latter's program offers a two-year A.S. (Associate degree in Science).

Geneva High School is a public high school located in Geneva, New York, United States. The school serves grades 9-12 and is a part of the Geneva City School District. The principal is Gregory Baker, the assistant principal is Timothy Baker, and the associate principal is Tricia Budgar.

Seneca Lake State Park is a 141-acre (0.57 km2) state park located in Seneca County, New York in the United States. The park is at the north end of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. The park is south of and between Geneva and Waterloo.

Genesee Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. The district contains 16 contributing properties including 14 contributing buildings, one contributing site, and one contributing object. The focal point is Genesee Park, an informally landscaped village green. The district includes a remarkably intact collection of mid- to late-19th century civic, domestic, and religious properties. There are two notable churches: the massive St. Peter's Episcopal Church (1868), designed by Richard Upjohn, and the former North Presbyterian Church (1875), both examples of the Gothic Revival style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Geneva is a city in Ontario and Seneca counties in the U.S. state of New York. It is at the northern end of Seneca Lake; all land portions of the city are within Ontario County; the water portions are in Seneca County. The population was 13,261 at the 2010 census. The city is supposedly named after the city and canton of Geneva in Switzerland. The main settlement of the Seneca was spelled Zoneshio by early European settlers, and was described as being two miles north of Seneca Lake.The city borders, and was once part of, the town of Geneva. The city identifies as the "Lake Trout Capital of the World."

The original St. Peter's began as an Episcopal mission established in 1853. Bishop William H. DeLancey appointed Dr. James Rankine, who conducted services in a small wooden chapel in 1861. He served as first rector of the new St. Peter's church from 1861-1896 and also served as the president of Hobart (later Hobart and William Smith Colleges) from 1869 to 1871. Another president of Hobart, Dr. Maunsell Van Rensselaer also served as an early rector of St. Peter's Church.The cornerstone of the current large gothic structure, designed by the noted American architect Richard Upjohn was laid in 1868 and the church construction completed in 1870, when it was consecrated as a memorial to Bishop DeLancey, where his remains are interred. A large bell tower was added in 1878. Most recently, in 1986, the church underwent a complete restoration and the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy was established. First Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. The church was constructed in 1893-1894 and is an example of Romanesque Revival style. Constructed of brick with limestone accents, the main block is surmounted by a profusion of tower, turrets, and cross gables. The front facade is flanked by two massive square towers.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Geneva Downtown Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Geneva, Ontario County, New York. It encompasses 83 contributing buildings in the central business district of Geneva. They were built between about 1840 and 1940, and include notable examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, Romanesque Revival, Colonial Revival, and Art Deco style commercial architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed Farmers and Merchants Bank, Smith's Opera House, and United States Post Office. Other notable buildings include the Prouty Block (1876), YMCA (1902), Wheat Building (1904), Guard Building (1917, 1924), Geneva City Hall (1913, 1940), Odd Fellows Building (1884-1890), and Kresge Building (1928).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Farmers and Merchants Bank, also known as Geneva Savings Bank, is a historic bank building located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. It was constructed in 1914–1915 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay brick building with a cast stone facade. The facade embodies a full range of Neoclassical features derived from ancient Greek architecture that were meant to convey a sense of integrity, durability, and reliability to the venerable financial institution of public banking.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is located in the Geneva Commercial Historic District.
