Secaucus Junction (signed as Secaucus) is an intermodal transit hub operated by New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) in Secaucus, New Jersey. It is one of busiest railway stations in North America. The $450 million, 321,000-square-foot (29,800 m2) station opened on December 15, 2003. It was known as Secaucus Transfer during planning stages and was dedicated as the Frank R. Lautenberg Rail Station at Secaucus Junction. U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, who died in 2013, was a transit advocate who had worked to allocate federal funds for the project.The station is on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) five miles west of New York Penn Station and five miles east of Newark Penn Station. At Secaucus, the NEC crosses above the Main Line, which originates/terminates at Hoboken Terminal; the station allows passengers to transfer between the two lines. The station is served by all NJ Transit rail lines except for the Atlantic City Line and the Princeton Branch. Amtrak trains run through Secaucus but do not stop. A bus terminal was built at the station in 2016.

High Tech High School is a full-time public magnet high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in Secaucus, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Hudson County Schools of Technology. Since its establishment in 1991, High Tech High School has been named a Top Ten High School, a Governor's School of Excellence, a New Jersey Star School (twice) and has been cited by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the state's great public high schools. The school is noted for success in the sciences and in the performing arts, winning several awards in both fields. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,008 students and 91.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.0:1. There were 238 students (23.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 90 (8.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

On February 9, 1996, two NJ Transit commuter trains collided at Bergen Junction (since removed/abandoned) in Secaucus, NJ. This accident occurred during the morning rush hour just south of the current Secaucus Junction station. It is NJ Transit's deadliest accident to date and was the first in which NJ Transit passengers and crew died. 3 people were killed and 162 others sustained injuries.

Hudson Generating Station was a power plant operated by PSEG Fossil LLC, a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). It was located in Jersey City in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The site was in operation from 1906 to 2017, but as of 2011 only one unit was in operation at the facility – Unit 2, which ran primarily on coal to generate electricity and was also capable of burning natural gas as a secondary fuel. Unit 2 was also equipped with several back-end technology emission controls. The generating station was closed permanently by PSEG Power on June 1, 2017. The 241-acre site was sold to Chicago-based Hilco Redevelopment Partners in January 2019, which plans to repurpose the site as a state-of-the-art industrial park serving growing warehouse-distribution business in region.

Snake Hill (known officially as Laurel Hill) is an igneous rock intrusion jutting up from the floor of the Meadowlands in southern Secaucus, New Jersey, at a bend in the Hackensack River. It was largely obliterated in the 1960s by quarrying that reduced the height of some sections by one-quarter and the area of its base by four fifths. The diabase rock was used as building material in growing areas like Jersey City. The remnant of the hill is the defining feature of Laurel Hill County Park. The high point, a 203-foot (62 m) graffiti-covered inselberg rock formation, is a familiar landmark to travelers on the New Jersey Turnpike's Eastern Spur, which skirts the hill's southern edge. The crest of the hill's unusual, sloping ridge is about 150 feet (46 m) high.

The Lower Hack Lift is a lift bridge carrying the New Jersey Transit Morristown Line across the Hackensack River at mile 3.4, Jersey City, New Jersey. The massive 3-track lift span was built in 1927–28 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad under the direction and design of John Alexander Low Waddell. The span was completed and opened October 2, 1928. In addition to the Morristown and Gladstone lines, Montclair-Boonton Line service and North Jersey Coast Line service (via the Waterfront Connection) also use Lower Hack to access Hoboken Terminal. According to US Coast Guard regulations, Lower Hack shall open upon signal with at least one hour notice to the bridge tender at Upper Hack Lift on the Main Line.

DB Draw is a derelict railroad swing bridge crossing the Hackensack River between Secaucus and Kearny, in New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1889 by the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad, (reorganized in 1895 as the Erie Railroad) and was used by the New York and Greenwood Lake and the Newark Branch. The bridge later carried New Jersey Transit's Boonton Line until the line was connected to the Montclair Branch via the Montclair Connection, to form the Montclair-Boonton Line. The bridge then reverted to Norfolk Southern Railway control, which has since placed it out of service. It was decommissioned in October 2002 and left in an open position for river traffic.As of 2022, the line is being converted to a rail trail.

Chelsea is the former name of the northwestern part of The Heights in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA, that is located near Transfer Station. Chelsea was once part of Hudson City and bordered the former town of West Hoboken.

Harmon Cove is an abandoned train station in the Harmon Cove section of Secaucus, New Jersey. The station was a former stop on the Bergen County Line which runs from Hoboken Terminal to Suffern. Train service was discontinued in 2003 when Secaucus Junction was opened.

The Abel I. Smith Burial Ground (also spelled Able I. Smith Burial Ground) was a family burial plot in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States.

Western Slope is a neighborhood in The Heights, Jersey City, New Jersey on the cuesta, or gradual decline, of the western side of the New Jersey Palisades between The Boulevard and Tonnele Avenue. Its southern border is generally considered to be Beach Street near The Divided Highway and ramp leading to Tonnelle Circle. Its northern border is near Transfer Station, the district of Hudson County, New Jersey where Secaucus Road, Kennedy Boulevard, and Paterson Plank Road, intersect and where the borders of Jersey City Heights, North Bergen, New Jersey, and Union City, New Jersey meet at one point. Some streets of Western Slope keep their names as they cross over the city line into North Bergen. From the Tonnelle Avenue at Route 139, Tonnelle Avenue Avenue through Western Slope is also known as U.S. Route 1/9 between the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, and is dotted with motels and gas stations, and a White Manna. Some effects from erosion resulting from continued development can be seen along the eastern side of Tonnelle Avenue Avenue. The area along Tonnelle Avenue Avenue is industrial and commercial, whereas the blocks rising to the east are residential. Leonard Gordon Park at Manhattan Avenue is a neighborhood park and site of a larger than life 1907 sculpture referred to as Buffalo and Bears by Solon Hannibal Borglum. Sparrow Hill is a neighborhood is a six block stretch of Liberty Avenue between Spruce Street and Manhattan Avenue.

The Portal North Bridge is a railroad bridge under construction to replace the original Portal Bridge, which carries the Northeast Corridor (NEC) over the Hackensack River. It is located in Kearny and Secaucus, New Jersey west of Secaucus Junction and east of the Sawtooth Bridges. The new bridge is part of the Gateway Program to rehabilitate and expand the NEC between Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station. It is fixed span with a vertical clearance of 50 feet (15 m) above mean water level and would allow train speeds of at least 90 mph (140 km/h).
