Ennerdale is a town in Gauteng, South Africa. Ennerdale was declared as a coloured group area under the apartheid regime. According to Crankshaw (2022), 'the coloureds-only suburb of Ennerdale, which was developed later during the 1980s, was built for homeownership by the private sector and home loans were financed by private banks (Lupton, 1991: pp.20–1; 1993).' Even though apartheid ended in 1994 people say it's a "coloured" community but it's mixed. Best known for its religious grouping, Ennerdale has more churches than business. Most young people between the age of 22 and 37 do not prefer to engage in the countries economic activities, they rather open a church.

Lenasia Muslim School is an independent high school in Lenasia, Gauteng, South Africa. It achieved a 100% pass rate in the matriculation exams in the years 2003 to 2009, and in 2010, with a 99% pass rate, was one of the five top performing independent schools in Gauteng. Orange Farm ("Farma") is a township located approximately 45 km (28 mi) from Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. It is one of the youngest townships in South Africa, with the original inhabitants, laid-off farm workers, taking up residency in 1988. Support for the population came slowly mostly from people who were tenants at the larger township of Soweto.The Orange Farm Water Crisis Committee, an offshoot of the South African Anti-Privatization Forum (AFP), has been very vocal and active against the privatization of water. Approximately 85% of the people work in Johannesburg. Most of the people use trains to get to work. 35% of the residents are unemployed.

The Protea Glen Mall is a shopping mall in Protea Glen, in Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa, which opened in September 2012Built at a cost of approximately R360-380 million, the mall is located at the intersection of R558 and Protea Boulevard in the centre of Protea Glen, and has over 90 tenants.

Avalon Cemetery is one of the largest graveyards in South Africa. It was opened in 1972, during the height of apartheid, as a graveyard exclusively for black people. The huge extension was officially opened on 9 February by Matshidiso Mfikoe, at the time a mayoral committee member for environment and corporate services. Before Avalon opened, Sowetans were buried in Nancefield (Klipspruit) Cemetery. That burial ground opened in 1912 but is now full except for second or third burials. Just beyond the entrance, to the left, there are Memorials dedicated to struggle activists Lilian Ngoyi and Helen Joseph. During Women’s Month in August 2010, the graves of Ngoyi, Joseph and Maxeke were declared National Heritage Sites. (The cemetery has memorials to other heroes as well.) To the North, near the Train Station, lies the Mendi Memorial. In the cemetery are the graves of Joe Slovo and Hector Pieterson.

Phiri is a township in the urban area of Soweto in South Africa. The township was founded in 1956, as part of the demographic reorganization started by the state that year. Phiri, along with several other areas, was created to house Sotho and Tswana-speakers. Phiri is the Sotho word for hyena. The town is also famous for the birthplace of South African international footballer Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Kliptown is a suburb of the formerly black township of Soweto in Gauteng, South Africa, located about 17 km south-west of Johannesburg. Kliptown is the oldest residential district of Soweto, and was first laid out in 1891 on land which formed part of Klipspruit farm. The farm was named after the klipspruit (rocky stream) that runs nearby. From 1903 the area was home to informal settlements (squatter camps), and the area now contains a mixture of purpose-built housing and many shacks and other informal homes which form the Chris Hani and Dlamini settlements.
