ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is an independent research institute within the National University of Singapore. The ESI's research and analyses focus on the areas of Energy Economics, Energy Security and Energy and the Environment.

Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) was established in August 2002 and as a Singapore Non Profit Philanthropic Research Organisation focusing primarily on understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie the development and physiology of plants, fungi and animals which provides foundation for biotechnology innovation. It is affiliated with the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University and is located within the campus of the National University of Singapore. TLL has 230 researchers from about 20 different nationalities to engage in biomolecular science research and applications.

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a national public research university in Singapore. Founded in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, NUS is the oldest autonomous university in the country. It offers degree programmes in a wide range of disciplines at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including in the sciences, medicine and dentistry, design and environment, law, arts and social sciences, engineering, business, computing, and music.NUS is one of the most highly ranked academic institutions in the world. It has consistently featured in the top 30 of the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and in the top 100 of the Academic Ranking of World Universities. As of 2022–2023, NUS is 11th worldwide according to QS and 19th worldwide according to THE.NUS's main campus is located in the southwestern part of Singapore, adjacent to the Kent Ridge subzone of Queenstown, accommodating an area of 170 ha (420 acres). The Duke–NUS Medical School, a postgraduate medical school jointly established with Duke University, is located at the Outram campus; and its Bukit Timah campus houses the Faculty of Law and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The Yale-NUS College, a joint liberal arts college between NUS and Yale University, is located next to the NUS University Town on the main campus.NUS includes one Nobel laureate, one Tang Prize laureate and one Vautrin Lud Laureate among its affiliated faculty members and researchers.

The Adam Park Guild House is located at Adam Park Estate is a historic house at the National University of Singapore. The estate was the site of fighting between British forces and the invading Japanese Army in February 1942, in the Battle of Singapore. On 12 February, the defending forces formed a final perimeter around the city. On that morning, British soldiers of the 1st Battalion, the Cambridge Regiment, took up positions in the Adam Park housing estate. The Battalion's headquarters was at house number 7. Since March 1987, 7 Adam Park has served as the Adam Park Guild House of the National University of Singapore Society.

Singapore Science Park is a research, development and technologies hub in Queenstown, Singapore. Managed by Ascendas, a subsidiary of Capitaland, it was set up under a government initiative in 1980 to provide the necessary infrastructure for local retail and development companies to flourish in the country. One of the most prominent local tenants headquartered within the parks is Singaporean multinational technology company Shopee.

The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, established in 1905, is the first institution of higher learning in Singapore and the genesis of the National University of Singapore. The School is one of many who offer medical programmes in the Asia Pacific region. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 by subject and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2019 list NUS Medicine as the leading medical school in Asia. Its distinguished alumni include cabinet ministers of Singapore, well-known doctors and a Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore is a Research Centre of Excellence hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications and sensing.

The National University Hospital (NUH) is a tertiary referral hospital and academic medical centre in Singapore, located in Kent Ridge. It is a 1,160-bed tertiary hospital serving more than 670,000 outpatients and 49,000 inpatients and serves as a clinical training centre and research centre for the medical and dental faculties of the National University of Singapore (NUS). NUH is the flagship hospital of the National University Health System and the principal teaching hospital for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Its campus includes three national speciality centres, namely the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) and the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS).

Kent Ridge MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle Line in Queenstown, Singapore. The station is named after the geographical feature, Kent Ridge and is near the junction of South Buona Vista Road and Lower Kent Ridge Road. Kent Ridge station is located at the eastern part of the National University of Singapore main campus, right underneath the National University Hospital.

Singapore Miniature Zoo was a former private zoo located in Singapore. It was located at 189 West Coast Road (old informally Pasir Panjang Road 7 1/4 milestone).Opened by wildlife dealer Tong Seng Mun in 1957, it was home to a multitude of bird and animal species; such as lions, sun bears, penguins, panthers, orangutans, a leopard, a tapir, a camel, a baby rhinoceros, and a baby elephant. In addition to 50 tanks of tropical fish.The size of the zoo was 2 hectares, which faced the sea. Owned a 90 kg sea lion imported from Holland in 1956 (costing $3,000) - it was featured at Singapore Aquarists Society's fish exhibition (held at the Happy World stadium). The zoo was opened daily from 9am to 7pm, charged admission fees of 50c for adults and 20c for children. The zoo closed in the early 1960s.

Haw Par Villa (Chinese: 虎豹別墅; pinyin: Hǔ Bào Biéshù) is a theme park located along Pasir Panjang Road in Singapore. The park contains over 1,000 statues and 150 giant dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese mythology, folklore, legends, history, and illustrations of various aspects of Confucianism. During the 1970s and 1980s, the park was a major local attraction; it is estimated that the park then welcomed at least 1 million annual visitors, and is considered as part of Singapore's cultural heritage. As of 2018, under the park operator, Journeys, efforts to revitalise the park are ongoing with the holding of themed events and the planning and construction of ancillary museums.

Queenstown is a planning area and satellite residential town situated on the south-westernmost fringe of the Central Region of Singapore. It borders Bukit Timah to the north, Tanglin to the northeast, Bukit Merah to the east and southeast, as well as Clementi to the northwest and west. Its southern and southwesternmost limits are bounded by the Pandan Strait.Developed by the Singapore Improvement Trust in the 1950s and subsequently by the Housing and Development Board in the 1960s, Queenstown was the first satellite town to be built in the country. Most apartments within the township consists of simple one, two, or three-room flats, typically in low-rise, walk-up blocks. Major development work was carried out during the first Five-Year Building Programme between 1960 and 1965. A total of 19,372 dwelling units were constructed between 1952 and 1968.The headquarters of Grab, Razer and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are located in Queenstown.
