Ballyblack is a rural area in the Ards Peninsula of County Down, Northern Ireland, approximately 4 miles southeast of the town of Newtownards. Located in the barony of Ards Lower, Ballyblack townland spans the civil parish of Greyabbey and civil parish of Newtownards. According to PlacenamesNI.org, the name Ballyblack originates from "Baile Bhleaic" meaning Black's townland.The churchyard of Ballyblack Presbyterian Church, located in the townland, dates to the mid-19th century.

It is situated in the civil parish of Newtownards and the historic barony of Ards Lower, located 2 miles east of Newtownards. It lies within the Ards and North Down Borough Council.

Greyabbey or Grey Abbey is a small village, townland (of 208 acres) and civil parish located on the eastern shores of Strangford Lough, on the Ards Peninsula in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies 7 miles (11 km) south of Newtownards. Both townland and civil parish are situated in the historic barony of Ards Lower. It is within the Ards and North Down Borough. It had a population of 939 people in the 2011 Census.Greyabbey is often associated with the antiques trade, there being several specialist antique shops in the village, as well as some interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings. Of particular note is Mount Stewart Estate (National Trust) as well as a traditional coaching inn.

Grey Abbey (Irish: An Mhainistir Liath) is a ruined Cistercian priory in Greyabbey, County Down, Northern Ireland. Currently maintained by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, it is a monument in state care in the townland of Rosemount, on the eastern edge of the village of Greyabbey in the Ards and North Down local government district.

Carrowdore (from Irish Ceathrú Dobhair, meaning 'water quarter') is a village on the Ards Peninsula in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the townland of Ballyrawer, the civil parish of Donaghadee and the historic barony of Ards Lower. It lies within the Ards and North Down Borough, 6 miles (10 km) east of Newtownards. It had a population of 1,052 people in the 2021 census.

Strangford College, also known as Strangford Integrated College, is a school in Carrowdore, Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is an integrated co-educational secondary school with a grammar stream with around 870+ students (2025/26). Mrs Clare Foster is the school's current principal.

Royal Air Force Millisle or more commonly RAF Millisle (also known as Killaughey Airfield) is a former Royal Air Force station located in Millisle, County Down, Northern Ireland. Unlike many wartime airfields which were cancelled during planning stages, RAF Millisle was abandoned in late stages of construction.

The Nendrum Monastery mill was a tide mill on an Mahee Island in Strangford Lough now in Northern Ireland. It is the earliest excavated tide mill, dating from 787 AD. Its millstones are 830mm in diameter and the horizontal wheel is estimated to have developed 7/8HP at its peak. Remains of an earlier mill dated at 619 AD were also found.

Nendrum Monastery (Irish: Naondroim) was a Christian monastery on Mahee Island in Strangford Lough, County Down, Northern Ireland. Medieval records say it was founded in the 5th century, but this is uncertain. The monastery came to an end at some time between 974 and 1178, but its church served a parish until the site was abandoned in the 15th century. Some remains of the monastery can still be seen.
