Aberffrwd railway station

Aberffrwd is a village in the Welsh principal area of Ceredigion. It has a railway station on the narrow-gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway, which was operated by British Rail as part of the island wide rail network until 1980.

Ceredigion is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of eight constituencies in the Mid and West Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. It has been represented since its creation in 1999 by Plaid Cymru's Elin Jones, who has also been the Llywydd (Presiding Officer) of the Senedd since 2016.

Melindwr is a community in the county of Ceredigion, Wales, to the east of Aberystwyth and is 71.6 miles (115.1 km) from Cardiff and 173.8 miles (279.7 km) from London. In 2011 the population of Melindwr was 1070 with 54.7% of them able to speak Welsh.Villages within this community include: Capel Bangor, Goginan, Pisgah, Cwmbrwyno, Pant-y-crug, Maes-bangor, Dollwen, Dol-y-pandy, Blaen-geuffordd and Pen-llwyn. The Afon Rheidol runs through the community. Buwch a'r Llo Standing Stones (litr. "Cow and Calf") is a standing stone within the community; 52.4329°N 3.8815°W. Goginan mine, is a pre-Roan (Celtic) lead and zinc mine which is also situated in Melindwr community.

Nantyronen railway station is a railway station serving Nantyronen in Ceredigion in Mid-Wales. It is an intermediate station and request stop on the preserved Vale of Rheidol Railway. It is accessible by road from the village of Nantyronen, and also from the Devil's Bridge road (above), by descending the hillside on a steep winding lane.

Pisgah, Ceredigion is a hamlet in the community of Melindwr, Ceredigion, Wales, which is 70.2 miles (113 km) from Cardiff and 173.3 miles (278.8 km) from London. Pisgah is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and the Member of Parliament is Ben Lake (Plaid Cymru).

Afon Rheidol (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈr̥ei̯dɔl]; also known as the River Rheidol) is a river in Ceredigion, Wales, 19 miles (31 km) in length. The source is Plynlimon. Receiving an average annual rainfall of 40 inches (1.02 m), Plynlimon is also the source of both the Wye and the Severn.

Goginan is a small village in Ceredigion, about 7 miles outside Aberystwyth on the A44 between Ponterwyd and Capel Bangor. The Afon Melindwr runs through the village, and is a tributary of the Afon Rheidol. The village originally grew around farms in the area, but increased with the development of local mines. To the east of the villages lies a Grade II Listed 19th century house thought to be associated with the lead mines in the area; it is probably the Goginan mine manager's house. Rheidol Falls railway station is a railway station serving Rheidol Falls in Ceredigion in Mid-Wales. It is an intermediate station and request stop on the preserved narrow gauge 1 ft 11¾ in (603 mm) Vale of Rheidol Railway.

Rheidol power station is a 56 MW hydroelectric scheme near Aberystwyth, Wales. It was built between 1957 and 1962 and was officially opened on 3 July 1964. It has been operated by Statkraft since 2009 after it was transferred from E.ON UK as part of a swap for shares. In 1964/65 Rheidol Power Station was awarded the Christopher Hinton trophy in recognition of good housekeeping. The power plant is the largest of its kind in England and Wales. The plant has generated renewable energy by using rainwater that falls on the surrounding mountains since 1962. The plant covers a total area of 162 square kilometres (63 sq mi) and is made up of an interconnected group of reservoirs, dams, pipelines, aqueducts, and power stations. The upper reaches of the scheme are over 750 metres (2,460 ft) above sea level in the Plynlimon mountains. A series of aqueducts collects the water and channels it into the Nant-y-Moch reservoir. Water flows from this reservoir to a power station at Dinas where it drives a 13 MW generator. From the power station, the water flows into Dinas reservoir. Dinas reservoir supplies water to the largest power station at Cwm Rheidol where there are two 20.5 MW generators. At Cwm Rheidol a further reservoir has been created to avoid large variations in the flow of water. This reservoir collects water that flows through the power station and releases it slowly through a 1 MW generator.

Cwmbrwyno is a hamlet in the community of Melindwr, Ceredigion, Wales, which is 71.2 miles (114.7 km) from Cardiff and 172.3 miles (277.3 km) from London. Cwmbrwyno is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.There are former mines nearby.

Creuddyn was a medieval commote (cwmwd) and, later, a lordship in Ceredigion, Wales. It was located between the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol, and was one of the three commotes of Cantref Penweddig. The name, of Old Welsh origin, probably refers to the Pen Dinas hill fort, anciently known as Dinas Maelor. The natural centre of the commote was Llanfihangel y Creuddyn where five roads meet at the village. The name survives in the name of a rural community and church of the same name; however the modern community is much smaller than the medieval commote.
