Glanyrafon railway station

Glanyrafon or Glanrafon is a small village and industrial estate in the community of Llanfarian, Ceredigion, Wales. It lies on the south bank of the Afon Rheidol, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east of Llanfarian village and the same distance east of the town of Aberystwyth. Glanyrafon is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.

The Thomas Parry Library at Aberystwyth was part of the library of the University of Wales Aberystwyth, it served the Department of Information Studies, Department of Law and Criminology and the School of Management & Business. It opened in June 1970 and closed 10 August 2018.

Comins Coch (officially spelt Comins-coch) is a small village in Ceredigion, Wales, to the northeast of Aberystwyth. The village is covered by Faenor community/parish council.There are approximately 300 residents living in the village, which includes a primary school, phone box and a post box. The village incorporates two main housing estates, one consisting in part of rental and leasehold properties owned and managed by housing association Barcud Cyfyngedig.Ysgol Comins Coch (Comins Coch Primary School) is currently the largest property in the village, with approximately 170 pupils and over 20 members of staff as of 2023.

Nanteos (Welsh: Plas Nanteos, Nanteos Mansion) is an 18th-century former country house in Llanbadarn-y-Creuddyn, near Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. A Grade I listed building, it is now a country house hotel. The gardens and parkland surrounding the mansion are listed on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. The current building was constructed between 1738 and 1757 for the Powell family, with the Shrewsbury architect Edward Haycock Sr. designing the stable block in the 1830s, and William Ritson Coultart designing the east wing and rear offices in 1841. The family occupied the house for some 200 years up until the last of the Powells, Margaret Powell, who died in 1951. At its peak the Nanteos estate comprised some 31,000 acres in 1800, covering most of what is today Aberystwyth, and was the major employer of the county. The name derives from the Welsh for "brook" (nant) and "nightingale" (eos).The house was once the home of the Nanteos Cup, a medieval mazer drinking bowl that has been attributed with a supernatural ability to heal those who drink from it; it was traditionally believed to be fashioned from a piece of the True Cross. A 1905 pamphlet declared it to be the Holy Grail.

Faenor is a community and electoral ward sharing a boundary with the town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion, Wales.Faenor also has two community wards which elect 12 councillors to Faenor Community Council: One covers Waun Fawr and most of the student village Pentre Jane Morgan of Aberystwyth University, while the other covers Comins Coch, Capel Dewi and Lovesgrove.Most of the houses in Faenor were built from the 1960s onwards to house the expanding population of Aberystwyth and its University. Pentre Jane Morgan is purpose-built student accommodation on land which used to be part of the University farm until the 1990s.

Llanbadarn Fawr (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˌbadarn ˈvau̯r]) is a village and community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is on the outskirts of Aberystwyth next to Penparcau and Southgate. It forms the eastern part of the continually built-up area of Aberystwyth. It holds two electoral wards, Padarn and Sulien which elect a Ceredigion County Councillor each and several Llanbadarn Fawr Community Councillors. At the 2001 census its population as a community was recorded at 2,899, increasing to 3,380 at the 2011 census.

Llanbadarn railway station is a railway station serving the ancient villages of Llanbadarn Fawr and Pwllhobi near Aberystwyth in Ceredigion in Mid-Wales. It is a request stop on the preserved Vale of Rheidol Railway. Alighting passengers are required to step down onto the grass as there is no platform. Tickets can be purchased from the guard. The station is at the end of a section of line from Aberystwyth that is right next to the Cambrian Line. It is also by a level crossing of the A4120. All trains towards Devil's Bridge pause briefly here to activate the level crossing before proceeding. Approximately 400 yards beyond the station in the direction of Devil's Bridge is a wooden trestle bridge, the only bridge over the river Rheidol on the line. Llanbadarn station saw record numbers of passengers in 1957 when the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show was held at the nearby Blaendolau Fields. The railway ran a special top-and-tailed shuttle service between Aberystwyth and Llanbadarn.

Saint Padarn's Church is a parish church of the Church in Wales, and the largest mediaeval church in mid-Wales. It is at Llanbadarn Fawr, near Aberystwyth, in Ceredigion, Wales, United Kingdom. Founded in the early sixth century, St Padarn's Church has gone through many changes, from a Welsh monastic centre (a clas), a Benedictine priory, a clas again, a royal rectory, a church controlled by Chester's Vale Royal Abbey, and since 1538 a parish church under a vicar.
