Rheingau-Taunus is a Kreis (district) in the west of Hesse, Germany. Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis is part of the Darmstadt region; its main administrative seat is Bad Schwalbach. Outposted sections of the local administration are located in Idstein and Rüdesheim am Rhein. Neighbouring districts are the Hessian districts of Limburg-Weilburg, Hochtaunuskreis, Main-Taunus-Kreis, district-free Wiesbaden and Mainz-Bingen and Rhein-Lahn which are located in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Bad Schwalbach (called Langenschwalbach until 1927) is the district seat of Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, in Hesse, Germany.

Lindschied is a village in Hesse, Germany. It is part of Bad Schwalbach, lies in the hills of the Taunus and has about 600 inhabitants. In the time of the Roman Empire, the border-wall called limes went through Lindschied's boundaries. Today, many remnants can be found, such as parts of this old wall itself and remains of Roman watchtowers. In Lindschied, the co-founder of the Anheuser-Busch brewery, Adolphus Busch, built his mansion "Villa Lilly", which is named after his wife Elisabeth Anheuser. In 1913, Adolphus Busch died in this mansion.

Schlangenbad is a municipality in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis in the Regierungsbezirk of Darmstadt in Hesse, Germany.

Fischbach (Bad Schwalbach) is a village southwest of the city of Bad Schwalbach in Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, Germany. It is separated from Bad Schwalbach by the Western Aartaunus area. The district was first documented in 1220. The name "Fischbach" derives from "Vissebach", meaning "the brook that flows through the meadows."

Hohe Wurzel, at 618 m, is the highest peak in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis mountain range and the 2nd highest mountain near Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany. A 133 m reinforced concrete telecommunications tower is located on the peak, which supplies the Rhine Main area and other locations with digital television service as well as DAB and FM sound broadcasts. In 1883, the Gustav Vietor Tower was built on the peak. It was last used for amateur radio purposes. The tower was demolished in March 2006. Hohe Wurzel is located in the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park.

Taunusstein (German: [ˈtaʊnʊsˌʃtaɪn] ) is the biggest town in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis in the Regierungsbezirk of Darmstadt in Hessen, Germany. It has 30,068 inhabitants (2020).

The Gustav Vietor Tower was one of the earliest steel lattice observation towers to be built in Germany. Constructed of stone and steel in 1882–3 on the Hohe Wurzel mountain near Wiesbaden in Hesse, the 23-metre-tall tower was demolished in 2006, having been closed to visitors 20 years earlier, although it remained in use by radio amateurs.

Aubach is a river of Hesse, Germany. It is a tributary of the Aar near Aarbergen.

Georgenborn is a village of 2000 inhabitants in the municipality of Schlangenbad, Germany. The village is located in the Taunus mountains between Schlangenbad and Wiesbaden and was founded in 1694 by Fürst Georg of Nassau-Idstein. An annual event is held on March 25 in which citizens help clean the cemetery and surrounding areas. The municipality also helps by providing equipment to the citizens.
