Waupacksee

The Feisnecksee or Feisneck is a lake on the southeastern perimeter of the town of Waren in Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It lies at an elevation of 62.1 metres and its surface area is 1.94 km². The Feisnecksee is joined to the Binnenmüritz to the northwest by a very narrow, shallow and unnavigable ditch. The road runs over a small bridge here that is only wide enough for large vehicles to pass in one direction at a time. The land bridge is about 150 metres wide at this point. The lake is a typical, glacial tunnel valley lake and is divided by a neck and the larger Burgwall Island into a north and south basins. It is about 3,100 metres long and 600 metres wide. Near the southern half is the Waren quarter of Damerow. The lakeshore is completely surrounded by a belt of reed and is also wooded in the south. In the north half of the lake is a bathing area. Fishing is only allowed by special permit because the lake lies in the national park.

Burgwall Island (German: Burgwallinsel) is an island in the Feisneck lake in the southeast part of the town of Waren (Müritz) in the German district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. The name means "castle mound" or "motte". Burgwall Island lies in a small lake, which has an area of 1.94 km². Its name is derived from a castle on the island, only remnants of which remain. It was a typical island castle from the Slavic era. As finds of pottery have shown, the site was already settled during the Old Slavic period of the 7th and 8th centuries and continued to exist until the 12th century. Finds of early German pottery indicated that the island continued to be used after Christianity had been introduced in the Middle Ages. Whether the castle still existed then is not known. The castle site lay in the territory of the Müritz tribe that, during the 10th century, periodically belonged to the Lutici federation. Today the remains of a rampart may still be made out in the southern part of the wooded island. It looks as if most of it was carried away in the preceding centuries.

The Melzer See or Melzersee is a lake at Waren in Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The Melzer See lies on the northeastern perimeter of the town of Waren (Müritz). It has an area of 12.9 hectares and lies at an elevation of 63 m above sea level (NHN). Its maximum dimensions are 670 by 260 metres. It is fed from the ditches of the nearby Lehmkuhlenbruch and its waters exit through a short ditch into the Tiefwarensee, from which it is only separated by a narrow isthmus and small road. The location between two lakes was the occasion for the origin of the name of the Waren quarter of Werdersiedlung. Whilst small gardens are ranged along its southern shore, the Melzer See is bordered to the northwest by meadowland. It lies entirely within the protected area of the Torgelower See. Visitors can walk around the lake on a two-kilometre-long footpath. The Ice Age Trail along theTiefwarensee also runs past the Melzer See.

Wolfskuhlsee is a lake in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. At an elevation of 63.8 m, its surface area is 0.039 km².

The New Town Hall in Waren was inaugurated in 1862. It is located in the town centre of Waren in Mecklenburg, Germany, on the market square (Marktplatz) near Sain Mary's Church.

The Müritzeum is a visitor centre and nature discovery centre for the Müritz National Park, located on Lake Müritz, near the town of Waren in the north German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The concept of the visitor centre is to have an "enjoyable and interactive science-based approach" to the themes of nature and regional history. The exhibition and aquarium area is devoted to the presentation of the flora and fauna and history of the Mecklenburg Lake District. Its centrepiece is the largest aquarium for native freshwater fish in Germany, with a capacity of 100,000 litres. More than 40 aquatic species may be seen in the 25 aquaria, with almost all of Mecklenburg's native species, including rare crustacea and turtles. Thematic exhibition areas cover the underwater world, birds, forests, the region's history and the moor. The 1000-year-old oaks at Ivenack, the fieldstone church and estate villages form other topics in the exhibition. There is also an adventure garden and adventure playground. The film in the site's multi-vision cinema gives overview on the checkered history of Mecklenburg.The foundation stone of the 13 million euro and 2,000-square-metre building was laid on 14 December 2005. The first phase was completed in June 2006 and it was opened on 2 August 2007. The building is entirely covered with charred (angekohlt) larch wood. Just as the Mecklenburg Lake District is known as the "Land of a Thousand Lakes", the Müritzeum describes itself as the "House of a Thousand Lakes". As a visitor centre, the Müritzeum provides information for visitors and tourists about the cultural and tourist attractions of the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Müritz National Park. The Müritzeum is supported by the collections of the Müritz Museum, with its 140-year history, the Natural History Collection of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Müritz Aquarium. The Müritz Museum was the precursor of the Müritzeum. In 1866, the first collection was created when Hermann von Maltzan founded as the Maltzan Natural History Museum for Mecklenburg (Maltzan`sches Naturhistorisches Museums für Mecklenburg) or Maltzaneum for short.At the Müritzeum, as part of the Natural History State Collection of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, are about 275,000 exhibits, especially molluscs, insects, eggs, bird specimens, antlers and a geological collection. The library of approximately 16,000 volumes, mainly focuses on "Mecklenburgica" and scientific literature on botany, zoology, geology and natural history.

Moorsee is a lake in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. At an elevation of 62.5 m, its surface area is 0.164 km².

The Tiefwarensee is a lake on the northeastern perimeter of the town of Waren (Müritz) in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The lake is separated from the Binnenmüritz to the southwest by a 300 metre wide isthmus. The lake is a glacial tunnel valley lake nestling in an ice-age formed meltwater channel, that runs into Lake Müritz from the north. It has one sizeable bay on its southern shore. It is roughly 2,600 metres long and 780 metres wide. Waren's town centre lies on the southern shore of the lake. The lake thus plays a central role as a recreation area for Waren. For example, there is a canoe and boat hire service on the lake and fishing is also allowed. The Tiefwarensee belongs to the Torgelower See nature reserve, and its northeastern shore is part of the Ostufer Tiefwaren – Falkenhäger Bruch Nature Reserve. Power boats and windsurfing are not permitted. The ten-kilometre-long Tiefwarensee Ice Age Trail runs around the lake. It may be negotiated on foot or by bicycle..

The Herrensee is a small lake on the northwestern edge of the old town (Altstadt) of Waren (Müritz) in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The originally almost-circular lake was slightly enlarged on its southern shore during the construction of the Information and Nature Experience Centre of Müritzeum. It has an approximate area of 1.5 hectares and a diameter of 130 metres. The lake is filled from the east by the Beke that carries water from the Tiefwarensee, 230 metres away, and is also drained by the Beke to the southwest into the Binnenmüritz just 70 metres away. The lake contains several small bush-covered islets that are used as nesting sites by water fowl. The Herrensee lies on the edge of a small park and there is a nature trail running around it. It gives its name to the bridge that divides the park, the Herrensee Bridge (Herrenseebrücke), which runs over the B 192 federal road and the Lloyd Railway and links the Old Town to the quarter of Waren-Nord.

Waren (Müritz) (also Waren an der Müritz) is a town and climatic spa in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It was the capital of the former district of Müritz (Kreis Müritz) until the district reform of 2011. It is situated at the northern end of Lake Müritz, approximately 40 kilometres west of Neubrandenburg. Waren is home to the offices of the sub-district (Amt) of Seenlandschaft Waren, although the town itself is independent of any Amt. Its borough is the second largest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by area.

Weinberg House is a historicist villa at Bahnhofstraße 26 in the town of Waren (Müritz) in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Despite subsequent modifications the house is one of the sights of the town. It is known in German as Schloss Weinberg, or colloquially as the Weinbergschloss.

Warnker See is a lake in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Its elevation is 62.5 m (205 ft) and surface area is 0.456 km (0.283 mi).
