Greendale Secondary School (abbreviation: GDLSS; Simplified Chinese: 绿苑中学; Traditional Chinese: 綠苑中學) is a neighbourhood secondary school located in Punggol, in between the Meridian LRT station and Coral Edge LRT station, in the north-eastern part of Singapore. The school was found and started in January 2006 and in 2010, Greendale Secondary School represented the North-East district by hosting the launch site for the YOG torch relay in day 3 of the Singapore leg.

Punggol, alternatively spelled as Ponggol, is a planning area and new town situated on the Tanjong Punggol peninsula in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town directly borders Sengkang to the south and shares riverine boundaries with the planning area of Seletar to the west and Pasir Ris to the east. Bounding the town to the north and north-east is the Straits of Johor, with Coney Island included as a part of the Punggol planning area. Under the Punggol 21 initiative, plans to turn the area into a new residential town were announced in 1996 and development of the town started in 1998. Due to the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the financial troubles within the construction industry in 2003, the plan did not fully materialise. In 2007, a new initiative, the Punggol 21-plus plan, was introduced to redevelop the area into a waterfront town. Punggol is divided into 11 districts: Canal, Coney Island, Crescent, Matilda, Northshore, Punggol Central, Punggol Field East, Punggol Field West, Punggol Downtown, Punggol Point and Waterway West.

Oasis Terraces is an integrated development located in Punggol, Singapore, next to Oasis LRT station. Developed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB), the development was built as part of a new generation of neighbourhood centres, housing the Punggol Polyclinic, a retail component with restaurants and shops, a community plaza and a rooftop community garden.

Rivervale is a neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town located between Sungei Serangoon and Compassvale. The block numbers of the public apartment blocks in Rivervale begin with the number '1' (1xx). Rivervale was the first neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town to be built, and many of the existing housing estates in Rivervale were completed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) as early as 1997.

Sungei Serangoon (Malay for Serangoon River; Chinese: 实龙岗河) is a river in the north-eastern part of Singapore. The 8-kilometre river starts as a canal near Tampines Road, and flows through Hougang, where it is joined by tributary Sungei Pinang just before Sengkang, before flowing towards Lorong Halus, where it is joined by another tributary Sungei Blukar, before emptying into the Serangoon Harbour. The river is also known as the Serangoon Estuary. Since 2011, the river has been converted into a reservoir - Serangoon Reservoir.

Treelodge@Punggol (Chinese: 绿馨苑) (previously known as Treetops@Punggol) is a HDB estate located in Punggol, Singapore, located at Punggol Road, Punggol Drive and Punggol Place. It is Singapore's first experimental eco-friendly public-housing project and was awarded the Green Mark Platinum Award. The project also won international awards such as the Green Good Design Award in 2010 and the Futurac Green Leadership award in 2011 for its sustainable design.The sale of the apartments was launched in March 2007 under the Housing & Development Board's Build-To-Order (HDB) Scheme with a 99-year leasehold.

Compassvale LRT station is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line East Loop in Compassvale, Sengkang, Singapore, located at Compassvale Street between the junctions of Compassvale Crescent, Compassvale Road and Punggol Road.

The Sengkang LRT line (SKLRT) is a 10.7-kilometre (6.6 mi) elevated automated guideway transit line in Sengkang, Singapore. The driverless system consists of 14 stations on two loops, with Sengkang station connecting both loops and connecting the line to the North East MRT line. It is the second Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in Singapore, and the first LRT line operated by SBS Transit. The SKLRT was planned in tandem with the development of the Sengkang estate. Construction of the LRT stations and viaducts was completed in 2001, and the LTA transferred operations to SBS Transit in September 2002. The east loop began operations on 18 January 2003, followed by the west loop on 29 January 2005, with Kupang station being the last to open on 27 June 2015. The line operates using the Kyosan Automated People Mover (APM) fixed block signalling system and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Crystal Mover APM vehicles. Two-car operations were introduced in December 2015 to accommodate increased ridership. Between 2018 and 2022, the SKLRT underwent renewal works to improve reliability. A new fleet of 25 two-car APMs is expected to enter service in 2025, replacing 25 one-car trains and half of the 16 two-car trains in the existing fleet.

Coney Island, alternatively known as Pulau Serangoon, is a 133-hectare island located off the northeastern coast of Singapore within the town of Punggol, between Pulau Ubin to its northeast and the mainland to its southwest.Land reclamation works were carried out on the island from 1975 to the 1990s, as there were plans to build residential buildings on the southern part of the island. The works narrowed the channel between Punggol and the island to 100m. Still, in spite of this small distance, motor launches had to be specially hired to reach the island until the opening of Coney Island Park, linked to the main island by two bridges on its western and eastern ends.

Compassvale Secondary School (CVSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Sengkang, Singapore, within walking distance of Compassvale LRT station. Founded on 2 January 2000, the integrated government school offers secondary education under three academic streams, which lead up to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations.
