Herzl Museum

Homage to Jerusalem is a 1977 sculpture by Alexander Calder in Holland Square, near Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. It is at the corner of Kiryat Yovel Street and Ein Karem at a view point overlooking the Jerusalem Forest.

Asaf Simhoni (Also spelled Asaf Simchoni; Hebrew: אסף שמחוני; October 9, 1922 - November 6, 1956) was a major general in the IDF, served as head of Northern Command, Assistant Head of Operations Directorate, and later as the Head of Southern Command. Simhoni headed Israel's main effort during the Suez Crisis. He died on the night the war ended in a plane crash on the way to Haifa.

Max Donald Steinberg (November 27, 1989 – July 20, 2014) was an American-Israeli soldier in the Israel Defense Forces killed in the Gaza Strip during the 2014 Gaza War. A lone soldier, his funeral in Israel was attended by over 30,000 people, including the U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

Mount Herzl (Hebrew: הַר הֶרְצְל Har Hertsl), also Har ha-Zikaron (הַר הַזִּכָּרוֹן‎ lit. "Mount of Remembrance"), is the site of Israel's national cemetery and other memorial and educational facilities, found on the west side of Jerusalem beside the Jerusalem Forest. It is named after Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism. Herzl's tomb lies at the top of the hill. Yad Vashem, which commemorates the Holocaust, lies to the west of Mt. Herzl. Israel's war dead are also buried there. Mount Herzl is 834 meters above sea level.

The National Memorial Hall for Israel's Fallen (Hebrew: היכל הזיכרון הממלכתי לחללי מערכות ישראל) is a national memorial for all soldiers who gave their lives establishing and defending the State of Israel. The memorial was commissioned by the Israeli Ministry of Defense to provide a central place of pilgrimage for all bereaved families to commemorate their lost loved ones. Daily memorial services are held to honor the anniversary of each soldier's death.The memorial is located on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.

The Shaare Zedek Medical Center (Hebrew: מרכז רפואי שערי צדק, romanized: Merkaz Refu'i Sha'arei Tzedek, lit. 'Gates of Justice') is a large teaching hospital in Jerusalem. It was established in 1902 and is affiliated with Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The Schlesinger Institute for Medical-Halachic Research was founded in Israel in 1966 under the funding of Shaare Zedek Medical Center. It is named after the hospital's second Director General. The institute is dedicated to the halachic (Jewish law) approach to medical ethics, and has the purpose of researching and resolving the halachic issues that emerge as medicine progresses, to consider their medical, halachic, legal, and ethical ramifications, and to present practical responses. Leading rabbis, physicians. and others contribute to initiatives in line with the teachings of Torah.

The Garden of the Missing in Action (Hebrew: גן הנעדרים, romanized: Gan HaNe'edarim, lit. 'Garden of the Missing') is a commemorative garden on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem dedicated to Israeli MIAs.

Bayit VeGan (Hebrew: בית וגן, lit. House and Garden, also Bayit Vagan) is a neighborhood in southwest Jerusalem. It is located to the east of Mount Herzl, and borders the neighborhoods of Kiryat HaYovel and Givat Mordechai.

Kol Torah is a yeshiva in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Yad Vashem (Hebrew: יָד וַשֵׁם; lit. 'a memorial and a name') is Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. It is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Jews who were murdered; echoing the stories of the survivors; honoring Jews who fought against their Nazi oppressors and gentiles who selflessly aided Jews in need; and researching the phenomenon of the Holocaust in particular and genocide in general, with the aim of avoiding such events in the future. Yad Vashem's vision, as stated on its website, is: "To lead the documentation, research, education and commemoration of the Holocaust, and to convey the chronicles of this singular Jewish and human event to every person in Israel, to the Jewish people, and to every significant and relevant audience worldwide."Established in 1953, Yad Vashem is located on the Mount of Remembrance, on the western slope of Mount Herzl, a height in western Jerusalem, 804 meters (2,638 ft) above sea level and adjacent to the Jerusalem Forest. The memorial consists of a 180-dunam (18.0 ha; 44.5-acre) complex containing two types of facilities: some dedicated to the scientific study of the Holocaust, and memorials and museums catering to the needs of the larger public. Among the former there are an International Research Institute for Holocaust Research, an archives, a library, a publishing house and the International School for Holocaust Studies; the latter include the Holocaust History Museum, memorial sites such as the Children's Memorial and the Hall of Remembrance, the Museum of Holocaust Art, sculptures, outdoor commemorative sites such as the Valley of the Communities, as well as a synagogue. A core goal of Yad Vashem's founders was to recognize non-Jews who, at personal risk and without financial or evangelistic motives, chose to save Jews from the ongoing genocide during the Holocaust. Those recognized by Israel as Righteous Among the Nations are honored in a section of Yad Vashem known as the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations. Yad Vashem is the second-most-visited Israeli tourist site, after the Western Wall, with approximately one million visitors each year. It charges no admission fee.

Highway 16 (or Ariel Sharon Blvd) is a highway at the western entrance to Jerusalem providing direct access to the southern and central sections of the city from the west. Most of the road is located inside newly built tunnels. The project cost approximately 1.5 billion shekels, and was inaugurated a year ahead of schedule on August 31, 2022.
