St Mary's College was a voluntary aided Catholic college situated in Saltersgill, Middlesbrough, England. Tracing its roots back to 1904, it was the only Catholic further education provision in the region of Teesside for over 50 years. In 2011, St Mary's College, along with two other Catholic schools, closed. Its buildings, staff and educational provision were merged with the other schools to form Trinity Catholic College, Middlesbrough.In 2018, much of the building previously occupied by St Mary's Sixth Form underwent an extensive renovation, becoming Postgate House, the headquarters of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust, which manages 27 schools across the Diocese of Middlesbrough. In 2019, Trinity Catholic College Sixth Form relocated from the old St Mary's site to a brand-new sixth form centre based on the school's main Lacy Road campus.

Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy trust (NPCAT) is a multi-academy trust (MAT) that operates thirty-eight schools (five secondary schools and thirty-two primary schools) across North Yorkshire and the Diocese of Middlesbrough. It is an exempt charity, regulated by the Department for Education.In 2022, NPCAT launched a football academy to cater for rising talent in Teesside, North Yorkshire and the City of York. Upon the dissolving of Saint Margaret Clitherow Catholic Academy Trust, NPCAT gained schools in the central vicariate of the diocese which had previously administered by SMCCAT. The trust was founded in 2018, its headquarters are on the site of Trinity Catholic College, Middlesbrough.

Newlands Catholic School FCJ, was a mixed 11–16 Catholic, state school in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The school was awarded Specialist Maths and Computing College status. It was owned by a religious order, the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJs) who originally came to Middlesbrough in the 19th century at the request of the Bishops. It was originally a girls school before it was amalgamated with St Mary's the local boys school. The school motto was Fortiter Et Recte, which in Latin means "Bravely and Justly". In 2009 Newlands School was officially renamed as Trinity Catholic College after amalgamating with St. David's School, Middlesbrough.

Hall Garth Community Arts College, originally Hall Garth School, was a secondary school in Acklam, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The students of the school came from areas with higher than average levels of socio-economic deprivation. The number of students from minority ethnic groups, and those with learning difficulties and disabilities, were well above average.In 2000, it became a performing arts school and, in 2007, was renamed to Hall Garth Community Arts College from Hall Garth School.

The school is designated as a National Support School - meaning that it is recognised as a high performing school able to provide support to other schools.

King's Manor School was a secondary school in Acklam, Middlesbrough, England. It merged with Hall Garth Community Arts College in 2010 to create Oakfields Community College.

Kirby College of Further Education, formerly girls-only Kirby Grammar School, is a campus in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. Founded in 1910 with the benefaction of Alderman Kirby, in its recent history it was part of Middlesbrough College, created via a merger of Kirby and Acklam Sixth Form College. This was further expanded with the inclusion of Teesside Tertiary College in 2002. In summer 2008, the various sites were consolidated onto a single site at Middlehaven.

Stanley Elton Hollis VC (21 September 1912 – 8 February 1972) was a British recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He had the distinction of receiving the only Victoria Cross awarded on D-Day (6 June 1944).
