University Park Historic District (Buffalo, New York)

The University Heights District is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.

University (formerly South Campus until September 1, 2003) is a Buffalo Metro Rail station located near the intersection of Main Street and Niagara Falls Boulevard on the University at Buffalo South Campus. It is a major transfer point between Metro Rail and many city and suburban bus routes and offers a unique "Kiss and Ride" facility on the top level, above the mezzanine. This allows drivers of automobiles a separate area to drop off passengers, so they do not add to the traffic congestion from buses at the station during rush-hour periods and a large park-and-ride facility directly to the east of the station. Since University station serves as a terminal, immediately south is a double crossover. From May 20, 1985 to November 10, 1986, due to construction issues at LaSalle station, Amherst Street station served as the northern terminus. Since November 10, 1986, University station has served as the northern terminus.

Edmund B. Hayes Hall is a historic landmark on the South Campus of the University at Buffalo. It is a Georgian Revival style building with an attached bell tower. It is named after engineer and businessman Edmund B. Hayes whose bequest funded the remodeling of the facility for university use.

Parkside Candy Shoppe and Factory is a historic commercial and industrial complex located in the University Heights neighborhood of Buffalo, Erie County, New York. It consists of a two-story brick and stone commercial Candy Shoppe building (1925-1927), with an attached two-story brick and tile daylight factory building, erected in two stages (1925-1927; 1928). Also on the property is a contributing one-story, three-bay frame garage (1928).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine is a school of dentistry located on the campus of the University at Buffalo in the United States city of Buffalo. The school is one of only two public dental schools in the state of New York along with the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.

Edward A. Diebolt House is a historic home located at Buffalo in Erie County, New York. It is a Colonial Revival style frame house built in 1922–1923. It is representative of the standardized floor plan home constructed in the immediate post-World War I period and retains complete integrity.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. It is located in the University Park Historic District.

Public School No. 63, also known as Campus North School, is a historic school building located in the Kensington-Bailey neighborhood of Buffalo, Erie County, New York. The original section was built in 1917, and is two stories above a ground floor, giving the appearance of a three-story red brick building with Classical Revival detailing. The original "H"-shaped plan consisted of classrooms located in the wings, with gymnasium, swimming pool and auditorium located centrally. Northeast and northwest corner additions were built in 1925. The building is an example of a typical standardized public school plan developed by city architect Howard L. Beck. The school has been redeveloped as an apartment building known as The Lofts at University Heights. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Jewish Center of Atlantic Beach (JCAB) is an Orthodox Synagogue located on Nassau Avenue in Atlantic Beach, New York. The Synagogue was founded in 1953. JCAB is the only Synagogue in Atlantic Beach. The Congregations includes approximately 250 families. Rabbi Samuel Klibanoff served as the Rabbi of the Congregation for 11 years (2004–2015). After Rabbi Klibanoff left, Rabbi Ari Perl Served as rabbi for 3 years. Currently, the congregation has a temporary Rabbi, Rabbi Prus. During the summer months, Rabbi Simcha Willig, son of Rabbi Mordechai Willig, serves as a rabbi.

University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, also known as Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is a public medical school in the city of Buffalo, New York at the University at Buffalo. Founded in 1846, it is one of the oldest medical schools in the United States and is the only medical school in Buffalo. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. It offers degrees in various field such as Biomedical Sciences undergraduate majors, Biotechnical and Clinical, Laboratory Sciences, Master's programs in Biomedical Sciences, PhD programs in Biomedical Sciences, MD program, Graduate Medical Education residency program, Continuing Medical Education, postdoctoral programs, as well as dual-degree programs.

LaSalle is a Buffalo Metro Rail underground station located at the corner of Main Street and LaSalle Avenue and is one stop from the northern terminus. Original drafting plans had the station used as a turnout between the current Metro Rail line and three proposed extensions; the Tonawanda Line, which would extend service into the cities of Tonawanda and Niagara Falls; the North Buffalo Line, which would extend service to Elmwood Avenue on an abandoned railroad right-of-way between Hertel and Kenmore Avenues; and the East Buffalo line, to connect the Main Street line with the proposed Airport Line, carrying passengers to the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport. The only visible sign of the turnout is located below ground by way of partially finished tunnel just west of the LaSalle station platforms. WUFO (1080 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Amherst, New York, and serving the Buffalo metropolitan area. It is owned by the Visions Multi Media Group headed by Sheila. L. Brown and it broadcasts a hybrid Urban AC and Classic Hip Hop radio format. Its studios are on Broadway Avenue in Buffalo. WUFO is powered at 1,000 watts non-directional. But it is a daytimer station because 1080 AM is a clear-channel frequency reserved for Class A stations WTIC Hartford and KRLD Dallas. So WUFO must sign off at sunset to avoid interference. The transmitter is on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga. Programming is heard around the clock on 35 watt FM translator W243DX at 96.5 MHz. It uses the FM dial position in its moniker, "Power 96.5."

Rotary Field is a field and former athletics stadium in Buffalo, New York, on the South Campus of the University at Buffalo. It was the home field for the Buffalo Bulls football teams from 1920 to 1942, and again from 1955 to 1984. The field at Bailey Avenue and Winspear Avenue, on the southeastern corner of UB's South Campus, opened with UB's season opener against Thiel College on October 9, 1920.The field was initially known simply as University of Buffalo Field, until the Buffalo chapter of Rotary International donated $250,000 "for the creation of a proper athletic field or stadium, and that the same shall be known as Rotary Field." Construction of bleachers with a capacity of 7,500 at Rotary Field was completed in time for the next year's season opener, another Buffalo-Thiel game, on October 8, 1921.Rotary Field continued to serve as the Bulls' home field until 1942, when the program was suspended because of World War II. When the University of Buffalo resumed intercollegiate athletics in 1946, home games were played at Civic Stadium, the home of the NCAA's Canisius Golden Griffins and future home of the NFL's Buffalo Bills.After drawing lackluster crowds at the 40,000-capacity NFL-sized stadium – "at some recent games, fewer than 1,000 persons have rattled around in Civic Stadium as Buffalo's team lost repeatedly", the Associated Press reported in 1954 – the University of Buffalo decided to move its football team back to the campus grounds for 1955, though for the next few years, a few home games were held at Civic Stadium. Rotary Field served as the principal home of the Bulls until 1970, as the university dropped its football team after the end of that season. The college president noted at the time that the 12,000-person capacity stadium "had never been filled for a home game in the past decade." The sport was reinstated in 1977, again with Rotary Field as the Bulls' home turf.The Bulls enjoyed five consecutive winning seasons at Rotary Field, 1980 to 1984, before moving to the university's North Campus in Amherst, New York, to play their home games in UB Stadium, now known as Kunz Stadium. This field, in turn, was succeeded by the present-day University at Buffalo Stadium in 1993.The site of Rotary Field is now an open field and parking lot on the UB South Campus, across the street from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo.
