Higgins Beach

The Spurwink River is a 4.6-mile-long (7.4 km) primarily tidal river in Cumberland County, Maine. It rises in the town of Cape Elizabeth and flows west, then southwest, through salt marshes to its mouth at the Atlantic Ocean. It is bridged by Maine State Route 77 at the river's approximate halfway point. From a point shortly above the bridge to the river's mouth, it forms the boundary between Cape Elizabeth to the east and the town of Scarborough to the west. The river's mouth is at the Scarborough village of Higgins Beach.

Spurwink Congregational Church is a historic church at 533 Spurwink Avenue in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Built in 1802 and significantly renovated in 1830, it is the town's oldest public building. Home to an active congregation until 1957, it is now owned by the town, serving as a community function space. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Scarborough is a town in Cumberland County on the southern coast of the U.S. state of Maine. Located about 7 miles (11 km) south of Portland, Scarborough is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. The population was 22,135 at the 2020 census, making it the most populous town (not city) in Maine.

The Dyer–Hutchinson Farm is a historic farm property at 1148 Sawyer Road in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Established about 1790, it is one of the few surviving 18th-century farms in the town, and was in the hands of two families for about 200 years. It is now operated as the Old Farm Christmas Place, with some of its land devoted to the cultivation of Christmas trees. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Nonesuch River is a 24.9-mile-long (40.1 km) river in southern Maine in the United States. It rises in Saco and travels northeast, then east, then southwest through the town of Scarborough, becoming the primary source of fresh water to the Scarborough Marsh and the Scarborough River. It has several brooks as tributaries.It is a small, winding river, tidal over its lower reaches, which large boats could not navigate. At one point a canal was constructed to follow its course. The work was constructed by the expedient of digging a shallow ditch along the planned course and letting the tidal action carry the loose soil out to sea.Nonesuch River Golf Course is located nearby.

Prouts Neck is a coastal peninsula, located within the town of Scarborough, in southern Maine.

The Libby River is a 5.2-mile-long (8.4 km) river in the town of Scarborough, Maine, in the United States. It is tidal in its lower reaches, and it is a tributary of the Scarborough River, joining it just above that river's mouth at the Atlantic Ocean.

The Hunnewell House is one of the oldest surviving structures in the United States state of Maine. Located on Old County Road near Black Point Road in Scarborough, Maine, this modest single-story building was probably built in 1702-03 by Richard Hunnewell, who had first settled Scarborough in 1684. Although, the exact year of construction is in doubt, with some accounts listing it as 1673. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is now owned and maintained by the town.

The Winslow Homer Studio is the historic studio and home of the artist Winslow Homer, which is located on what is now Winslow Homer Road on Prouts Neck in Scarborough, Maine. Maine architect John Calvin Stevens altered and expanded an existing carriage house to suit Homer's needs in 1884, even moving the building 100 feet for added privacy from his brother's neighboring summer home. The most dramatic element is a balcony the width of the building, from which the artist often painted in winter. The building is 44 by 53 feet (13 m × 16 m) and two stories high, for a total of 2,200 square feet (200 m2). Homer lived and painted in the studio from 1884 until his death there in 1910.The studio was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965. The Portland Museum of Art acquired the building and surrounding grounds on January 31, 2006, closing both to the public during restoration projects. It was opened to the public in 2012, but may only be visited on a guided tour. The Portland Museum of Art undertook significant restoration of the building. Changes and additions made by members of the Homer family in 1938–39 were undone in order to preserve the studio as Winslow Homer left it in 1910. Some updates were also made to the property to enable it to function as a museum exhibit. The additions included plumbing and a restroom for visitors, electricity, security, and hidden steel reinforcements for the balcony (or piazza).

Richmond Island, or Richmond's Island, is an island off the coast of Cape Elizabeth in Cumberland County, Maine, in the United States. The island is named for Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox and 1st Duke of Richmond. Privately owned and unoccupied, it is notable as the site of a permanent fishing post in the 17th century, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 for the significance of that post's archaeological remains.

WZAN (970 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a classic country radio format. Licensed to Portland, it is owned by Saga Communications. The studios and offices are on Western Avenue in South Portland, Maine.WZAN operates with 5,000 watts. By day, the station uses a non-directional antenna but at night the signal is directional to protect other radio stations on AM 970. The transmitter is located off Ellwood Avenue in Scarborough, Maine. WZAN's programming is also broadcast on FM translator W268CS at 101.5 MHz in Portland.
