Ruimsig Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Roodepoort, South Africa. It is used mostly for football matches and was used as a training field for teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after being renovated in 2009 and brought up to FIFA standards.At the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, Iraq used Ruimsig Stadium for their training sessions.The stadium hosted an international friendly between Australia and Denmark, and one between the USA and Australia on 5 June 2010.Ruimsig Stadium was constructed in 1994 at a cost of R24 million as an international Athletics venue to the latest IAAF standards at the time. The track is an 8 lane full polyurethane track with duplicate facilities in both directions for all field events. Between 1995 and 2001 it hosted a number of international Athletics meetings including an IAAF Grand Prix Athletics Meeting in April 1995 as the opening event of the track [O'Neil Fourie, Stadium Designer and Project Manager Ruimsig Stadium]. The venue forms part of a multi-sport events complex which was designed so that sporting codes that require access to open land and open water can also be staged at this venue, and the events that have taken place include Road Running, Cross County Running, Triathlon, Duathlon, Mountain Biking, Off-road Triathlon, Road Cycling and model aeroplanes. The terrain was also designed to accommodate BMX, model cars and moto cross, although the various managers have at different times not always allowed motorised sport. The annual Urban Assault Mountain Bike Race at the stadium attracts up to 2,000 participants and has been running for ten years. The facilities for the other sporting codes planned on the site have never been completed, and there are two Cricket ovals, two Football pitches, and a Hockey pitch that are grassed and in use, but the spectator seating and clubhouses planned for these facilities have never been constructed. The master plan also includes a multi-purpose indoor hall, Tennis courts, Netball courts, and multi-purpose courts, but the platforms for these facilities are used as grassed events areas for the start and finish of mountain bike races, etc.

The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden (previously known as the Witwatersrand National Botanical Garden) is a 300 hectares (3.0 km2) botanical reserve in Roodepoort near Johannesburg. Formally established in 1982, it is one of the youngest of South Africa's National Botanical Gardens, but the site where it is located has been popular with visitors for many decades before that. The garden is home to a well known pair of Verreaux's eagles that nest in the Roodekrans ridge which intersects the reserve. The garden has a restaurant, gift shop and nursery which sells South African native plants (the nursery closed March 2015). The Garden has been recognised as one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world.

Currently Monash University is no longer affiliated with the South Africa campus. In April 2019, the campus was sold to The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), a leader in the higher education sphere, and is no longer called or affiliated with Monash University. The IIE is internationally recognised by the British Accreditation Council. IIE MSA, formerly Monash South Africa, was founded in 2001 by Monash University. Monash South Africa (MSA) was a branch campus of the Australian Monash University. It was founded in 2001 and was located on a 100 hectare site in Ruimsig, north-west of Johannesburg, in the province of Gauteng. At its height, Monash South Africa had over 4000 students with a mix from 50 African countries. As Monash South Africa was sold to The Independent Institute of Education a subsidiary of ADvTECH Group. It is now called the IIE MSA and is still offering degrees and diplomas, and is even adding more qualifications to their range.

Aloe Ridge Game Reserve is a game reserve and conservation park in central Gauteng province in north-east South Africa, lying some 15 kilometres directly north-east of the Sterkfontein caves. Located near Mulder's Drift it protects white rhino, buffalo, hippo, and many antelope and rare bird species. The reserve also has a Zulu craft centre and is open to tourists.

Zandspruit is a township in the Region C of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It has been the scene of potential opportunities with regards to development by private and public entities. Several complaints against apathy and incompetence on the part of the local municipal authority have been raised and as a result development has slowly occurred. Over the years the place has seen development in various areas. Life quality has gotten better and improved due to efforts by the members of the community. Hoërskool Noordheuwel is an Afrikaans medium co-educational high school located in the upscale neighborhood of Noordheuwel in Johannesburg, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It is one of the most expensive Afrikaans medium schools, the fee per child amounting to R 35,510 per annum (as of 2020). The Department of Education named the school as the top academic school in Gauteng West and under the top 20 schools in the country.The school is considered one of the top athletic schools in South Africa and consistently rank amongst the country's top 3 athletic schools in the South African PUKKE athletics rankings. The cultural activities offered by the school include choir, debate, public speaking, Miss/Mr Norie, orators, revue, and a community outreach program. The school also offers sports facilities for the following sports: athletics, golf, hockey, cricket (male and female), cross country, netball, rugby, chess, mountain biking, tennis and fishing.

The African Leadership Academy (ALA) is a pre-university located in the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is dedicated to 16 to 19-year-olds from Africa and the rest of the world, with alumni from 46 countries currently. Founded in 2004 by Fred Swaniker, Chris Bradford, Peter Mombaur, and Acha Leke, ALA officially opened in September 2008 with an inaugural class of 97 students. ALA seeks to transform Africa by identifying, developing, and connecting the next generation of African leaders. To achieve this goal, ALA teaches a two-year curriculum in African Studies,Writing and Rhetoric and Entrepreneurial Leadership, as well as the usual academic core subjects.

Minnaar's Cave, or simply Minnaar, is a palaeontological site located in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, Gauteng province, South Africa. Lost after its discovery in the 1930s, its location was rediscovered in 2009. It is known for its well-preserved jackal skulls, dating to the Plio-Pleistocene at least 2 million years ago.

North Riding is a suburb of Randburg, in Region C - formerly Johannesburg Region 5, South Africa. The suburb was named after one of the three historic subdivisions of Yorkshire. 'North' was favoured at the time due to North Riding's location north of the CBD of Johannesburg. The Suburb formerly fell under the jurisdiction of the Randburg Town Council before it was incorporated into the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan area. Of the original 3 farms that were joined to form Randburg, North riding was located on the Olievenhout farm. North Riding fully encloses the Suburb of Bellair Park. The area was once prominently known as a horse riding and stable stronghold in the north of Johannesburg, but gave way to other areas such as Kyalami and Honeydew extensions. This can be seen in the road and street names. Previously the area was rather rural, had Agricultural Holding status and is still referred to as Northriding A.H. by some. After 1996 North Riding developed rapidly, in both the residential and commercial sector. Surrounding suburbs include: Olivedale, Northworld, Northwold Garden, Northgate, Johannesburg North, Noordhang and Golden Harvest. Main streets in the suburb include Blandford, Bellair and Malibongwe (previously Hans Strijdom) with the original entrance roads of Windsor and Smith, Ascot and Hyperion. North Riding includes various shopping centers and bed and breakfast accommodation. Various streams flow through the area, one such flowing from west to north-east is the Olievenhoutspoort. Miriam Makeba lived in the suburb at the time of her death.

Hoërskool Monument (Afrikaans: "Monument High School"; also known by the nickname Monnas) is a parallel medium (formerly purely Afrikaans medium) high school situated in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa. The school is considered one of the top rugby schools in South Africa and consistently rank amongst the country's top 10 teams in the South African schools unofficial rugby rankings. The first team rugby squad is known as the WitBulle (which translates as the White Bulls in English). The cultural activities offered by the school include choir, debate, public speaking, Junior United Nations, Miss Monnas, orators, and revue. The school also offers sports facilities for the following sports: athletics, golf, hockey, cricket, boys and girls, cross country, netball, rugby, chess, swimming, tennis and jukskei. Notable alumni include former president and Nobel Prize laureate F. W. de Klerk along with numerous current and former Springbok and International rugby players.

Kya Sand is an industrial suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region A of the City. The suburb is bordered to the east by Kya Sands Informal Settlement.

Ticketpro Dome (originally known as the MTN Sundome) was an event venue located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The seating capacity was approximately 13,000 and covers about 11,000 square metres. The Dome opened on 8 April 1998 with a concert by Diana Ross in front of a 15,000 strong audience. Nelson Mandela made a surprise appearance on stage during the official opening. The venue closed on 7 September 2021 due to being sold; it is now a showroom with space for 1,000 cars.
