Ocean Wave (shipwreck)

The Australasia was a wooden-hulled American Great Lakes freighter that served on the Great Lakes of North America between her construction in 1884 to her burning and sinking in 1896. On October 18, 1896, while loaded with coal, the Australasia sank in Lake Michigan near the town of Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin, United States, after burning off Cana Island. On July 3, 2013, the wreck of the Australasia was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Whitefish Dunes State Park is a 867-acre (351 ha) state park of Wisconsin on the eastern shore of the Door Peninsula. This day-use park preserves the most substantial sand dunes on the western shore of Lake Michigan. The remains of eight successive prehistoric Native American villages are on the National Register of Historic Places as Whitefish Dunes-Bay View Site. Cave Point County Park is an enclave inside the state park, allowing visitors free foot access to the state park by the shoreline trail connecting the parks.

Whitefish Bay is an unincorporated community on the Lake Michigan shoreline in the town of Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin. Native Americans, likely the Menominee, called Whitefish Bay Ah-Quas-He-Ma-Ganing ("save our lives").Glidden Drive stretches along the shore in Whitefish Bay. It is named after a banker from Michigan City, Indiana named Orrin Glidden, and is part of Rustic Road 9. Trails connecting to Glidden Drive stretch across public lands to provide access to Arbter and Schwartz lakes, and the Nature Conservancy operates a parking lot off of Glidden Drive.In 1893, Joe Mardin purchased 43 acres nearby along Shivering Sands Creek. He built a four-story structure out of wood, especially wood he had found washed ashore. Called Castle Romance, the first story housed pigs, the second, geese, and the fourth, ducks. The third story was intended to lodge summer travelers and had several beds and a piano. In 1913, the first summer cottage along what is now Glidden Drive was built out of wood scrapped from Castle Romance.Sherman Bay is a small bay about a half mile in size located south of Whitefish Bay and north of Lily Bay.

Clark Lake is the second largest lake in Door County, Wisconsin. Fish species enzootic to the lake include bluegill, brook trout, largemouth bass, northern pike, smallmouth bass and walleye. The nearest town is Jacksonport. Fish populations have been declining in the lake since 2013 and fishing now is extremely difficult.On May 16, 2021, the state live-release record for largemouth bass was set at Clark Lake at 22 inches.

Jacksonport is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 738 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Jacksonport and West Jacksonport are located in the town. Part of Clark Lake is in the Town of Jacksonport.

The SS Lakeland was an early steel-hulled Great Lakes freighter that sank on December 3, 1924, into 205 feet (62 m) of water on Lake Michigan near Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, United States, after she sprang a leak. On July 7, 2015, the wreck of the Lakeland was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Valmy is a small unincorporated community in the town of Sevastopol, where WIS 57 splits with County Highway T in Door County. The community serves as a gateway to the nearby Whitefish Dunes State Park as well as Cave Point County Park.

Institute is an unincorporated community on Highway 57 in the town of Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin. Institute was named for a Roman Catholic boarding school that once stood there.

The Door Peninsula is a peninsula in eastern Wisconsin, separating the southern part of the Green Bay from Lake Michigan. The peninsula includes northern Kewaunee County, northeastern Brown County, and the mainland portion of Door County. It is on the western side of the Niagara Escarpment. Well known for its cherry and apple orchards, the Door Peninsula is a popular tourism destination. With the 1881 completion of the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, the northern half of the peninsula became an island.Limestone outcroppings of the Niagara Escarpment are visible on both shores of the peninsula, but are larger and more prominent on the Green Bay side as seen at the Bayshore Blufflands. Progressions of dunes have created much of the rest of the shoreline, especially on the east side. Flora along the shore demonstrate plant succession during periods of low lake levels. The middle of the peninsula is mostly flat. Beyond the peninsula's northern tip is a series of islands, the largest of which is Washington Island. The partially submerged ridge extends farther north, becoming the Garden Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Peninsula Center is an unincorporated community in the town of Baileys Harbor in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. Peninsula Center is located at the junction of County Trunk Highway A (CTH-A) and CTH-E, which is 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Egg Harbor.
